Could We Get Free Agent WR?

56 posts in this topic

There are still some good FA WR's available.
How about Austin Collie or Randy Moss?

I wouldn't consider either of them good. Moss is done and Collie cant even get on the field. There's nothing left on the market. Brandon Lloyd is probably the best left, which says a lot about the market. It's pretty much draft or go with what we have at this point

Collie would be interesting. I would have liked Walter more, but he's off the market (at the moment). Danario Alexander is an option we should consider. There's nothing at risk when signing a restricted free agent tendered with an original tender who wasn't even drafted. I'm not too interested in one-route Moss, especially since we have players on the team now that can run that route better at this point in time. Brandon Lloyd is a better option.

I'll rather keep what we have now.

This year's WR Free Agency was very thin. I don't think any of the free agents we sign at this point will make a difference, unless Ozzie knows an underrated one.

We have Doss, Reed, Williams, Streeter, and Thompson along with a draft pick or two that will compete.

I know that group doesn't look the part, but I think spending a 1st or 2nd rounder on a WR is the plan our team is going.

Instant starters like Woods, Patton, Allen, Hopkins, or Wheaton wouldn't be a bad choice, but we could settle with the developmental types like Patterson, Hunter, Harper, or Dobson.

Austin Collie is on the wrong end of the NFL. Multiple concussion he had and is also prone to is actually career ending. If he keeps getting concussion, then it won't be pretty when he hits late 20s and have memory loss. I rather let Collie retire, then try to kick his tire and get few remaining last snaps from him.

Keep what we have, draft or trade. Been wrong before though. I didn't exactly want Jacoby and he worked out well.

We should attempt to sign Brandon Lloyd. We can add a vet and still groom what we already have.Just do what green bay does and use 4 wrs at a time for the majority of the game.I think we wasted our time trying to force Doss into our offense last year.Deonte Thompson shouldve been getting those reps.Had we played him in our offense more last year we would have our replacement for Boldin right now.But now im just ranting. To answer your question,if we sign any wr,it should be Lloyd....

Danario Alexander, if he's still available, would be an excellent option. He would come cheap, and he's still very young. We all saw what he could do with an above average qb throwing him the ball and with a full, healthy season. He's a very tall, fast receiver who would fit into our scheme perfectly. As long as he's healthy, I am very high on the guy.

I say "NO!" We had Boldin and let him go to give some of the younger receivers a chance to make an impact. Couple that with a decent draft pick and we are set at the WR position.

The thing with that is, Alexander is still a very young receiver who can come in just like a regular draft pick would. He is just now 24 years old.

his knees must be (close to) stuttered if the chargers only assigned the original-pick tender to him

What does bringing in another wr have to do with developing younger wrs?Cam Cameron has brainwashed our fan base into thinking we can only use 1 or 2 wrs at a time*smh*.....

If we were to bring in a receiver from FA's (which I don't see btw), then he'd be worth it. We wouldn't have to give him an outrageous contract, and we could give him a deal loaded with incentives. Knowing Oz's ability, he would be a huge reward/low risk type of player if we could give him a contract like that.

Ramses Barden - cheap, fast, like 6'7.

don't we have Streeter for that?

It's also the Chargers,. They haven't been making the best decisions as of late. If we could get a young guy like that in here for peanuts, why not? Competition breeds success.

Not a wr out there that seems like an instant upgrade over the committee we have.

Draft a starter in round 1-2, or a potential impact player who could start in the future round 3-4 and give someone like Doss/Streeter/Thompson a shot at no. 3 receiver.

I like what we have. I'd only add a WR or 2 in the draft. Da'Rick Rogers is an intriguing pick who could fall into the 3rd for us. I think highly of Keonte and think he will win our #2 WR spot in the preseason. Jacoby's best as the #3 and I think Keonte will man the slot. He's got good quick speed that allows him to create separation quickly. I can see him developing into a Victor Cruz type for us. I also want to see Streeter get the chance to develop. 6-5 with speed, if he can get a juggs machine like Jacoby got we can have another steal there. Doss and Reed have the best chance at getting the slot WR role on paper since they have the most game experience of our WR's not named Smith and Jones. I don't know if Doss can get the separation needed to be our possession receiver. If Joe learns to trust him like he did Boldin and Doss can make those similar plays then I can see our WR core that we have become soething like Green Bay's with multiple options. If that happens our offense will become as diverse as our defense will be.

I have Brandon Lloyd graded rather highly, always have. He runs good routes and makes spectacular catches with admirable body control. But, he's not a raven-type player.

Since the Titans signed Kevin Walter I've heard rumblings per Rotoworld that Nate Washington could get released. I think he'd fit in very well in our offense on a cheap two year deal. Plus that wouldn't stop us from drafting a WR or two either. With so much interest in Tavon Austin, almost reminiscent to our interest in Torrey a few years back, I could see him being Ozzie's target in the middle of round one by trading up.

Eh, I think that a chance at a ring can make almost anybody into a, 'Ravens' type player (Titus Young excluded). I wasn't too high on the Jacoby signing because I thought he was a quivering pile of Jell-O and didn't have that 'Ravens' mindset we fans always go on about but obviously the guy proved me and a lot of other people wrong about that. I wouldn't mind at all if Lloyd joined up.

I think his knees are shot. Pitt had brought him in for an interview and physical and he left without a contract. Not a good sign.

His only real producive years were when he was the No. 3 WR with Fitzgerald and Boldin in Arizona, he doesn't have the skills to make it as a No.2, let alone and No.1 when two better WRs aren't drawing away the coverage from him. And that doesn't even get into the injury concerns.

Pass.

Moss, really? So we just traded an aging WR, who can't get separation to get an EVEN OLDER one? The only remaining FA WRs could be good depth guys, but we bolstered our bench with UDFAs and low draft picks already, so why get another guy like that?
Tavon Austin and Keenan Allen are rumored to be slipping down the draft boards and even, if we can't get them there is solid round 2 talent still available. Patton for example. When the Ravens don't go for those guys, there still is Da'Rick, who will probably fall into the 3rd.
Either way, the Ravens need a WR from one of the first 2 rounds to improved the competition in training camp for the #2 spot behind Torrey. Alot of depth with little talent, won't get the offense anywhere.
