Lorenzo Neal

This week the phrase unsung hero seems to flying around and I just pondered if theres an unsung hero on offense, it has to be Lorenzo Neal. The man is a beast, best blitz pickup fullback I have ever seen. Also he's a lead blocker in almost 60% of the run plays. Give the man his kudos B)

Thank you! :) very true. Lorenzo Neal is definitely the unsung hero of this offense. He is a big part of our success in rushing offense, it being 4th in the league. When LeRon McClain isn't playing fullback, who is? Lorenzo. When Leron is playing halfback, who blocks for him? Lorenzo. LeRon McClain can learn alot from this guy because the dude's a warrior. I mean he's like what, in his late 30's...and he's fullback, a very tough and physical position. that's a feat.

I agree!
Lorenzo is a big part of our outstanding pass and run block.
But I think we should give credit to our whole O-Line aswell. They really suprised me this year. If you are looking at the last two games, they have only given up 1 sack against the Giants, in my opinion the best pass rush in the league, and 3 against statistically the best pass rush in th NFL, th Eagles.

Lorenzo Neal is 37 years old and been in the league for 16 years! It's amazing he can still walk, much less play at the level he does! HUGE acquisition for the Front Office!

I couldn't agree more. BTW lets send some love to Jarrett Johnson as well. He had an awesome game and he's not getting credit from us fans, although Harbs did mention him in the post game interview Go Ravens

Neal is arguably the best fullback in recent history, him and Mike Allstot. I've heard announcers describe him as a "bowling ball" and that's very accurate description, he bowls over defenders and opens up holes you can drive a Mack truck through.

I think that Neal is a better blocker than Alstott, Alstott would rush the ball alot for a fullback.

Neal is definitely a pure blocking fullback...but i think versatility would help, as we see in LeRon.

He was a real battering ram on Sunday. I played LB in college and having a hole open up to have a guy like Neal come at you through it is no fun. A few collisons with him and your about ready to go home.

Sam Gash was a comparable battering ram for us back in the early 00's. Ricard was never quite big enough to be an absolute tank, but he was a pretty solid FB overall, too. Mughelli was really fun in '06, but not nearly worth that silly contract Atlanta gave him. I always liked Ovie, from NC State I think. Big b@st@rd, just like Leron.

Ngata at Fullback with Neal at H-Back set to the left with Anderson at TE on the left side in the unbalanced line with Gaither, Grubbs, Brown, Chester pulling left, and Terry sealing at Right Tackle, with McClain carrying the ball at RB. Imagine an off-tackle run to the left with that alignment.

Also, Daryl Johnston, Mike Alstott, Tony Richardson, Bronko Nagurski, Jim Taylor, Fridge Perry, Fred Beasley, Mack Strong, and tons of others deserve some naming. Fullback is one of my favorite positions in all of professional sports. I know Perry was only FB mostly for that multi-TD Superbowl in '86 or whatever but you get me.

If you watch Lorenzo after every running play he will run over to the RB and help him up. You can also see him coaching Leron as well. Its obvious he has heart and is just happy to be here playing football. Oh and he is solid as an Abrams tank.

The dude is a tank. He plows the way for whoever is behind him.

I went to one of the training camps at the beginning of the season, back when we just signed Neal. The guy was out 15-20 mins before all of the other players warming up and Stretching. Pure heart and dedication.
