With two of the biggest stars ever to play defense leaving the ravens this year, who do you think our next defensive stud will be from the young core of guys we have? Excluding the studs we already have (Suggs, Ngata, Dumerville, Webb) who do you think can be the next pro bowler?

I have the gut feeling we get one in the draft.

yeah, I predict Elam, Cyprien, or A. Brown, but just out of our young group now im going with Upshaw

I think Upshaw has a ton of potential and could eventually be a star on this defense, but that's the safe pick.

I'm going with Omar Brown.

Of the guys on the team right now, I'd say Jimmy Smith. He has the perfect opportunity to prove his worth and earn the starting job across from Webb. I have faith in him.

I've got two votes. For some odd reason I REALLY like Asa Jackson. He's my "going on a limb" vote, he reminds me of a faster Chris McAlister.

Also, I really like Christian Thompson. I just can't fathom how someone could sit behind a FHOF and a Teacher of the game as is Reed and not become a better player. Thompson was drafted b/c we knew Reed's years were coming to an end and I'm ready for him to show why he was drafted.

Jimmy has the talent and the opportunity to be elite so he's my best bet. I think Upshaw will have another impact and another strong year but he's behind Suggs and Dumervil now and that may hinder his opportunities.

More on Upshaw...
He plays great setting the edge and plays a great physical game. I wonder if they'll teach him ilb this year and open up his versatility.

I think McPhee and Jones are very close to having breakout-type years, a la Ellerbe and Kruger last year. However, since neither one of those two made the Pro Bowl, I'll say Upshaw. He has a chance to gain some votes and notoriety if he keeps forcing turnovers like he did in the Superbowl. If he forces a bunch early in the season, his name will be tossed around enough to stick in the minds of voters.

Asa Jackson, Christian Thompson or Adrian Hamilton. Most confident in Asa for some reason, but think Christian will shock people.

It's hard to make a pro bowl by the way.

Remember Kruger had an off year too where he looked terrible. Cody might surprise you this year. Or not but if he wasn't worth the money we'd cut him too.

After Jimmy cracked Michael Softee in the Superbowl, that renewed my faith that he will one day be a World Beater. Got so hyped after that 3rd down play. GET IT OUTTA HERE! lol

Pre draft additions:

Adrian Hamilton is one to look out for with mentors like Suggs and Doom ahead of him.
[/quote]
From what I have heard, Dumervil doesn't really do a lot of mentoring.
