[News] Ravens Reach Deal With Elvis Dumervil

512 posts in this topic

I'm cautiously optimistic. Super stardom can come with a cost sometimes. I want to believe the best though and that this team can manage any appearance of ego's. I know, I know. I'm probably just being a bit careful in my thinking but remember like the post below the cost Philadelphia paid for having too many 'winners'. It will take some doing to get all they an out of this pick up. But then they have a history of doing just that. So why am I worried?

I don't know why you're worried. ;) No one knows for certain what Dumervil will look like on the Ravens. But he has exciting potential for us! :)

in ozzie we trust, despite all the the players we lost i believe we are a better football team going forward. this defense is going to be a force against the running passers that's evolving in the league. Buy the end of the day we will be a fine tuned machine ready for another run at the big prize. Go Ravens

I hope we get denver we can go back and kick there butts again everyone is gonna have a chip on their shoulder there all couting us out already i hope dummerville gets 4 sacks. The draft aint even here yet we got alot to look foward to we can move around anywhere after the first round and get value defensive players to go with our pass rush.

My wish list
Minter
Matheiu
Carridine
Elam
Future left tackle???

I don't now why we have so many with doubts about Dumervil...he can run circles around Kruger in my opinion.....especially in the Ravens defensive schemes.... Say what you want...but with the addition of Canty, Dumervil and Spears...for me it's like "Dannell Who?".

A huge pick-up, making the loss of Reed hurt a lot less. As I've stated before, a monster front will take the pressure off a not so monster secondary. Giving hopefully, Olgetree Minter or Reddick, the chance to adjust to the league (pending the draft obviously). Now lets focus on signing someone like Michael Huff or Quintin Mikell to help our, "not so monster secondary"... #Doom-er-vil!!!!

I like the signing. I jus wonder how it will affect the cap year year. Suggs, Ngata, Webb, Joe, Rice and have subtantial cap numbers next year. Wouldn't be surprised if some restructuring takes place or even cuts next year.

With Ngata, Canty, Jones, SPears, Suggs, Upshaw, Dumervil, McPhee, McClain???. Defense will be improved. This sets up for drafting LT, ILB, or Saftey in the first 2 rounds of draft.

S-o-r-r-y Ravens fandom, I thought we signed Elvis already. Got side tracked watching Illinois in the tourny. Too many beers and wings!

Our defense has greatly improved. Much better that last year. If we stat healthy we will be a top 5 defense. Some how our geriatric defense got us to the promised land. Everyone we lost was old, crippled, injury prone, or one dimensional. We will be young, physical, athletic, with a core of defense players that can't be rivaled by any team. With a little luck and a good draft our defense will be equal in quality to our offense. I see another Super Bowl on the horizon.

Could the ravens move to a 4-3 with the players they have right now

DE DT DT DE
Jones Ngata Canty Dumervil
CB Will Mike Sam CB
Webb Suggs McClain(draft) Upshaw J.Smith
SS FS
Thompson(draft) Ihedigbo

could something like this work thoughts???
I don't know why you would take Suggs from a pass rusher to a run stopper/TE covering LB.

Especially when you could have this rushing the passer.

(OLB) Dumervil (DE) Jones/McPhee (NT) Ngata (DE) Canty (OLB) Suggs

Hmmm... I was careful not to use any kind of swear words, strong phrasings, degradation, etc... I wrote something about a guy who kept wroting hateful comments here. I would love to write down once again what I wrote about him - but I guess it would get deleted again - although I'm quite sure it contained nothing tat would warrant any kind of post-editing my comment by a moderator. I ven wrote we should let the guy alone. And what I get is get called on for "insulting".

With all due respect, I think this time it was unfair. You, dear moderator, made me look like I go aroung insulting others - I'm more than sure I didn't do that.

Or, if the policy is that I can't write anything negative about others - in an acceptable manner and language - then say so - but in this case half of the comments should also be edited like this. I myself got "insults" much, much stronger than this - in indeed harsh manner and language - and those never got deleted. Not as if they should have.

Canty wears #99 there's 96-98
Maybe he can trade a year's supply of diapers for Ngata's number 92?

I wonder if the whole thing wasn't orchestrated by Dumervil's original agent? Seems funny that he had initially agreed to a pay cut with the Broncos, and now he gets more money...

I guess he didn't account for the part where he gets fired before the deal was made!

In Ozzie I Trust!!

Would you rather pay $40 million for a part-time pass rusher like Kruger or $35 million for a proven guy who has played full-time and has proven he can handle the job?

Never doubt the Oz!!

Ozzie's at it again!!! Winning takes the '5-P' formula: Planning; Practice; Performance; Patience; and Perseverance.

Once more, leaning on my favorite Harbaugh quote (from Jim, not John): "Respect the Process!"

...A happy Caw to all!

will - sizzle
DE - spears(run)/mcphee(rush)
NT - ngata
DE - canty(run)/art jones(rush)
sam- upshaw(run)/elvis(rush)

suddenly with 2 small subtle signings, and one splash signing, our biggest weakness now looks like what will carry our defense to a top 5 unit. drafting an ogletree/art brown possibly k. minter, will give us a complete defense, because losing ed reed wont hurt us as bad as many think, sure it hurts our hearts, but it wont hurt our production.
