Looks to be pretty awesome, doesn't it?
I agree, the first Bioshock was incredible, the second one......not so much.
I just got the new Gears of War, so I'll be on that for a while.
Will definitely be getting this eventually.

Wow. Easily GOTY for 2012.. nothing last year even comes close to this thrill ride. People put down your call of duty and play a real shooter. this is an amazing game

I'm completely underwhelmed by the new Gears of War. It's very tempting to go out and get this......

I dunno if I'm going to check it out. I wasn't a big fan of the original BioShock, the ending ruined the game for me.

I was going to get it but a couple of friends of mine told me the game was hyped to oblivion and not worth the $60. I'll wait on it. Still got other games to play anyway.

Really, what'd they say was wrong with it? I've read nothing but good things.

Said the story was good but underwhelming due to the hype (wasn't amazing) and the combat wasn't as good as the other games.

They did say it was a good game for what it is and you probably should play it but if they had to do it again, they wouldn't pay the full $60.

This game should be GOTY hands down. Story was amazing, great gameplay, and just an overall good experience. I definitely recommend picking this up. I just beat it yesterday.

All I've heard are good things about it. Its too bad I have a personal aversion to first person shooters, probably my least favorite game subtype, or I probably would have already picked this up.

I won't go into any massive amount of detail to detract from this thread with my completely subjective view but one of the reasons first person shooters came into existence was the "immersion" factor. To me anyway, seeing a pair of hands holding a gun does not make me believe I'm actually in the game, immersed as a character. I'm a big fan of video games as the next great medium for storytelling and trying to make me think I'm actually in the game's world doesn't work for me as far as that goes. I guess in short, I prefer third person shooters because they give the impression (though its not neccessarily true) that more work was put into your character's model and I'm more interested in following this character's journey, not seeing things from his/her actual perspective. Also from a pure gameplay standpoint, I like being able to rotate the in-game camera around and see my surroundings/assess situations more easily that trying to do so from your character's limited viewpoint in a FPS. The last FPS I played a decent amount was the original Resistance: Fall of Man when I got a PS3 in '08. I bought it used alongside new copies of GTAIV, Assassin's Creed, and Uncharted: Drakes Fortune. I still have those 3 titles to this day if that says anything, haha.

To each their own, I've heard BioShock Infinite has a solid storyline, I just won't be checking it out myself.

Bioshock Infinite is one of the best games I've ever played. The story is beyond fantastic, the ending is... just wow. If you pass up on this game, whether you're a shooter fan or not, you're doing yourself a disservice.
The ending started to click right after you walk out of Rapture and go through the lighthouse doors and find out how Elizabeth lost her pinky and what your AD brand really stands for. Even then I'm still thinking "No...there's no way you're really...." And that final scene before the credits is just amazing
If you opened that spoiler before finishing the game, shame on you.

Picked this up a few days ago after hearing all the positive reviews, and I'm annoyed again.  Another stupid ending, they really can't close a BioShock game.  So much wasted potential, it was so good up until the last minute or so.

Ended up getting it and just beat the game. This is a very good game. It has its flaws but it's a thrill ride from beginning to end and was very well made.

It's overrated from the perspective that I've seen a number of people claim it's one of the best games ever made and that it's a once-in-a-generation game. I disagree with that notion. I do agree that people should play this game whenever they get the chance to, though.
