B/c we're not opening up the season at home anymore it will most likely be a scheduled "easy win" for us also a game where we don't have to travel a great distance.

From opening up at home to traveling 2,500 miles to Denver is almost absurd and Idt that the NFL would schedule our first game in Denver.

I think it would either be the Bills or the Browns.

The past two seasons we've opened up the season against division foes (pitt-2011 & cincy-2012)
NBC wants a ratings draw. I guarantee it won't be either of those teams.

How any Ravens fans could WANT to open against Denver is ridiculous.

Do you really want Peyton Manning to have an entire offseason and preseason to prepare solely for YOUR team? Especially a team that he lost to in the playoffs the previous year? I sure wouldn't.

I'd rather play him in the mid-to-late portion of the season. The Broncos are going to dominate that division most likely, and they could have things wrapped up by Week 10 and not be nearly as sharp. There's the colder weather, which we know Flacco would be better suited for than Manning.

As a Ravens fan, who cares about a "marquee matchup?" Shoot, you should just want a win to start the season off right.

Do I agree that Denver will most likely be the pick? Yeah. But I don't have to like it. I think Chicago, Pittsburgh, and Miami(only because of their offseason acquisitions) would all be fine choices. Cincinnati doesn't deserve any primetime games if their owner is going to be stingy and not spend any of their ridiculously high cap-room.

It's just too bad... because the Ravens HOST the Patriots this year. They don't play in Foxborough this season.

It may happen in January 2014!

Hm.. can the NFL flip the home-away schedule to ensure a big ratings draw while the Ravens would remain on the road. Like say, move the Patriots game to Foxboro and the Miami Game to Baltimore.

Looking at the list, it seems Miami, Chicago, or Cincy most likely will be who we face in Week 1 if Denver opens up on Monday Night Football.
Yeah, Thursday night.

It's pretty much definitely gonna be Broncos/Steelers/Bears.

With the addition of Dumervil, Broncos is looking like even more of a lock.

I hope it's not the Steelers. I really savour the games against them so I would like to save them for later in the season.

As for it being the Broncos, when I first thought about that idea my reaction was 'No!'. That's a really tough opener to get lumbered with. The more I think about it though, the more I like the idea.

Everybody is a bit rusty in Week 1 and teams have new players who are still trying to bed themselves in to their new surroundings. I believe good preparation and good coaching are particularly important in Week 1 and I think we are better than the Broncos in both those areas. We could therefore have an edge going into that game. It might be tougher to go to Mile High later in the season when the Broncos have got themselves into a rhythm.

So yeah, Denver might not be such a bad destination in Week 1. The TV networks sure would love it too.

Wow. Does the guy who wrote this article do any actual research? First off, it states they expect to open at Home in Prime Time. That is all. I suppose this guy isn't aware that Thursday night is considered a Prime Time game? Second, we host the Patriots this year, not the other way around.

If the NFL even mentions doing something like this after already disrespecting us, it could turn way beyond ugly. It would be like cutting us deep and then throwing salt on the open and bleeding wound.

Ugh. I absolutely hate it when people talk like this. It really makes me mad. I'm not exactly directing my anger at you but I really dislike this mentality a lot.

Any team can beat any team in the NFL. Yeah, you can say some teams flat-out suck, but that's the truth. We could lose to the Browns on the opener. To say we could lose to the Broncos is simply stupid. I am sorry. Any loss would be a bummer. Losing to Denver, Chicago, Miami, Cincy, etc. would be a real bummer to open the season. The Cardinals started off hot last year to open the season. Who saw that coming? To say you wouldn't want to play Denver early is very frustrating to me.

A team like Denver I prefer to play early, because Manning does not always do well early in the season. That's when he is at his weakest IMO. Also, if you win you get major momentum. We are also very good when playing with time to prepare.

I want Denver more than anyone else. It will be the Super Bowl champs VERSUS the "Supposed to be" Super Bowl champs. Perfect. I want it bad. Really bad.

Its a double edge sword for me. I want Denver cause I think it will be a good game and extra prep work but would like to see them at full strength down the line to see how the Ravens stack up. Should be a good game regardless but how great would it be to blow em out in the opener like the team has started a trend of recently.

it will probably be the steelers. The picked us for their home coming 75th anniversary game to show us up! nawww....it has to be the steelers so we can burry their franchise for another season. NFL will advertise the back the prominence for the steelers and bring up their 6 rings.....and we can break their spirit. if not....let the steelers come to town for our first home opener and ring ceremony and what-have-you. But I see it being the patriots (we both finished 1st in our division...automatically scheduled) or steelers.

I want the Bears as well. It be interesting to open up against them. Plus the NFL can run the storyline of how both teams no longer have their star Linebackers, etc. Plus if say the Bears and Ravens draft Linebackers to replace Urlacher/Lewis, then they could really have the story of their replacements and what to expect from them, etc.

I just hope things work out better this year in terms of timing. I got tired of playing teams at their high points of the season/after a tough loss. Houston early in the season, Denver late in the season. Skins late in the season, Eagles early in the season. Houston after an embarrassing loss, New England after an embarrassing loss, Giants after an embarrassing loss, and so on.
