Boldin was also too slow if I recall, Pitta is also bigger and ran a faster 40. I was trying to go more along the path of occasional slot WR.

Don't be surprised if Harbs does this.

He's a mismatch for slot CBs.

I wouldn't mind.... That's what I'm saying, I'm not going to PROMOTE the friggin idea, but it is a thought that went through my head

We already do put him in the slot, and even out wide on rare occasions.

He'll see some time in the slot. Caldwell will take advantage of his size and physicality depending on the defense that we're playing against. But to outright move him to wide out, is not happening.

Wasnt there a gamd or 2 in 2011 where he started at WR? He also played WR in college. That said he is primarily going to be a TE although it wouldn't surprise me if he gets more snaps out of the slot.

You are right, he played WR for us when Boldin had surgery back in 2011. I think it was for like 4 games max but not sure, I remember him being average nothing spectacular

A friend of mine suggested that the Boldin trade is not such a big deal, bc we have another big physical reciever with great hands. Pitta

He suggested that we should try to move Pitta to WR.

I thought about this for a while, and it is not a bad idea.

First off, it will be very hard for corners to cover him. He is 6'4. And for a guy his size, a 4.6 40 is not bad at all. He is just as fast as Boldin.

He has reliable hands, and will go over the middle to fight for more yards.

Ozzie said that he would go TE in the draft, I think this might mean a potential move for Pitta.

Thoughts?

He would be a great possesion WR

Thats like saying, hey lets move Yanda to Center, or hey lets move Upshaw to MLB. Its not even about doubting their skills at the new position, its more like hey we now don't have a starting RG or starting OLB or in the case of your scenario...no starting TE. You remove a player from their natural position for another position where their performance is likely to be worse and then create another need instead of just addressing the original need.

I like how in the video.. the announcers.. don't even care about how LITERALLY AWESOME that catch was from Pitta, my man crush.. they just want to announce how much the team needs to destroy Flacco, WOW, that's disgusting

What do you expect from a pair of Eagles' announcers, they don't care about the other team and only see their home team's great play. They at least give Pitta a "good effort" for the catch.

I'm not going to say taht we should take Pitta out of TE, but I will throw out that back in his BYU days he played WR there so he knows how to play the position. I will also say that sometime I think we as fans get a little too caught up in a player's postion, whether Pitta is listed as TE or a WR as long and Caldwell and the rest of the staff use him to the best effect, whether that means on the ling as regular TE or splitting him out wide in the slot as a WR I'll be happy.

We need to keep Pitta as a receiving tight end. Several times last year we moved Pitta to the slot in 5 wide receiver formations. Dickson is a better run blocking tight end, but hasn't emerged in the passing game like Pitta has. I'm looking for Tandon Doss to step in for Boldin. According to players in practice he has the best hands on the team and also has the same build as Boldin. I wouldn't be surprised if he steps in and does well this year.

He doesn't have even remotely the same build as Boldin. I hope Doss takes the next step as much as anybody, and I think he will so some things this year now that he has his shot. However, Boldin is built like a fullback than a wide receiver. Doss is like 2 inches taller and probably 10 lbs lighter than Boldin. The only thing they may have in common is their hands, but Doss still has to prove that.
