Would you take the deal? You get a top 15 LT. A solid pass protector and an average run blocker. I think you need to look at the upside. He is only 28 and has shown improvement as a LT these past two seasons. The downside is he is on the franchise tag which is 9.2 million and you would need to work out a long term deal. Fortunately his long term contract won't shouldn't be very expensive as he isn't considered top 10.

I think it's a fairly good deal. Finding a quality LT in the 2nd round is difficult. It really seems to come down to dumb luck. If the 2014 pick was a 4th round then I would make the trade. Probably not a 3rd. He's not the best in the world, but even average LT are as rare as quarterbacks these days.

He's also got some back problems and will want some good money.

The league is trending away from elite tackles. Nobody really seems to be recognizing this. Elite interior OLs are now greater than elite tackles. You can get by with an average tackle if the interior is solid. See NO & even NE. The tackles are good but those interior linemen have been the foundation for Brady's success.

Anyway, I thought about this a while ago. Posted the idea in the FA thread we have in this very Ravens Talk forum. With that said, I would pass. He will want too much money.

That's partly because Brady gets the ball out so quick. Tackles for the Pats and the Saints pay more like guards. They push the rushers outside so Brady and Brees can step up (which requires a strong interior). Nate Solder is a darn good tackle though.

this could make sense the saints are interested in mckinnie if he was our fall back he may not be available. I was hoping we would trade up to get one in the draft but I don't see that happening. 9 mill with our cap issues may not work either.kinda a rock and hard place

I worry about his back. I want us to take a gamble on Armstead honestly.
