Is it April 1st? This has to be a joke! We play on Christmas, Christmas eve, Thanks Giving, and New Year lol but not on Rosh Hashanah. #justaintfair

Orioles should be ashamed. They play 162 games and they can't do a double header some other day of the season??? This is an absolute joke and all respectable Baltimoreans should boycott the Orioles that night.

Bisciotti should of made the O`s org./MLB an offer they could not refuse. Vito Corleone style.

Hmm. 8 home games vs. 81. SB winner vs. a squad with one playoff trip in its last 15 years. Where's the respect? I'm born and bred Balto. fan, pull for the Os, but this is sad.

That's too bad, it would have been a great day for Baltimore fans. Definitely one we would not have forgotten.

designermaryland- considering we have one of the better home records in the last 5 season and now looks like its going to be Denver(Denver/Cinci are our only road opponents who made playoffs) that we are going to open up at. yeah i'd rather play them at home.

the O's are playing on Rosh Hashanah. i don't get it.

I think because the O's are giving out free yamakas with the cartoon bird logo in the center :229031_rofl:

So lets look at the options.

Ravens opening home game to start the NFL Season as the defending national champs

orrrrrrrrr

One of 162 regular season games, where the O's take on the White Sox in a game no one gives a tihs about.

Tough decision.

is this really a big deal? although i think it is foolish that they couldn't just play the home game on sunday night or monday night, will it really matter? i think not. the NFL should have been more accommodating to make it work for the ravens. but of course they didnt. we'll just remember this while we kick everybody's rearend all year.

It has to do with the fans being able to celebrate their city and their team not the game itself.

My thoughts though, O's are the scapegoat here. Truth is the White Sox/MLB/Players Association all have a say and no way all 4 were going to agree to this especially in the playoff push for MLB. The real question is why aren't we playing on Rosh Hashanah? The answer because it is Wed. NFL had 4 million less viewers last seasons opener because it was on Wed. The greedy NFL and NBC don't like that because they lose a couple million. As always it come down to the almighty dollar.

The underlying issue here is this: the Orioles plan on being in contension for a playoffs spot -- perhaps a shot at going to the World Series. It's a win/win for the city.

Starting home/away, who cares, as long as we win! Then the Ravens will come back home for the opener, after destroying whom ever has the misfortune of playing us first. And I WILL be going to that Orioles game, not boycotting it, as some suggest.

A home game would have been nice.It doesn't really matter to much just as long as they are playing. There will still be other games here. The decision only make that first home game even louder and better.

I don't like this. I hate to admit it but we never play well in primetime on the road. I feel this could leave us at a disadvantage to start the season. Thanks for not being able to reschedule one of your million games Orioles. Like you will be in the playoff hunt anyways...

i know i will get negged but this is greedy goodells problem not baseballs. i am not an angelos fan but this is not his fault. even if they moved the game to 3pm there would not be enough time to tailgate while dealing with o's fans leaving the game and getting preparations done for the ravens game and celebration. thursday games stink to begin with. just move it to sunday night or monday night primetime.

So what's the issue with playing on Rosh Hashanah? We play football on Christmas, Thanksgiving, New Years. So can Dick Cass please explain why he does not want to play on Rosh Hashanah? BTW, news flash, Dick: the Orioles are playing away on Rosh Hashanah.

Just a cottin-pickin minute here. As a Christian, I miss church every home game since the NFL doesn't mind scheduling games every Sunday from September to February...... but the Jews can't make one exception???? The NFL even schedules games on Christmas Day and Thanksgiving. Wow....this is simply unbelievable!!!!

That is horrible......why can't they have the Ravens and Orioles game at the same time since no one goes to the Orioles game anyway. I suppose the decision is already made to play away, which is ridiculous.....no consideration for the fans....

What a shame.....I, for one, will not be at the O's game - hope the 5,000 White Sox fans make you enough money, Angelos (clown).

And if I was the NFL, I would make sure games are played on Thursday, Saturday, Sunday & Monday for the last week of October - goodbye World Series TV ratings
