What is wrong with all of the fans who are hating on the Orioles for not changing their schedule to accomadate the Ravens. They don't owe the Ravens or the NFL or network TV anything! I am a huge Ravens fan, but I am also a logical person. The MLB schedule was out first, and changing that schedule would impact multiple teams. And btw, the Orioles are far more entrenched in Baltimore's history than the 18 yo Ravens' franchise. Wishing the O's a loosing season or blaming the respective leagues is crazy. So we start off on the road, stop crying! Go O's!!!!! #baltimoresportsfanallday
Don't they? The NFL is careful about their game schedules come October in order not to interfere with MLB playoffs and World Series. Perhaps they should just say they don't owe them anything.

Guys Nobody needs to panic. Yes we are loosing a lot of good players, but The ravens are a franchise team with strong focus on "The next man up".

We lost Ellerbe- I personally think the ravens will replace him in the Draft, and It doesnt matter if I dont like Manti Teo, The ravens are probably going to draft him.

We lost P.Kruger-I believe he has a great technique, but nothing more. He can be replacable with Courtney Upshaw, or maybe Dumervill if he decides to join us, Or harrison, Or even Draft.

We lost Cary Williams- To be honest with yall, 80 % of the ravens fans didnt liked him, I didnt and dont like him, he's raw, And easily replacable. Webb will be our #1 CB, C. Graham our #2Cb and #3 Jimmy Smith.

We lost B.Pollard- I Think he was a great motivator and clutch hitter but, he missed alot of zones and coverages. I think the ravens will adress that one with James Ihegdibo.

THE ones that hurt the most.

Ed Reed- We all know Ed reed , Speechless.- But the ravens probably will replace him with Raiders FS M.Huff

AnQuan Boldin- Clutch Wr, and the best in the team.- But Again I think the ravens got that next man up in Torrey Smith, the kid was raw, but he kept fighting, and he is looking forward to become the best WR , he knows his goals and i believe in him. Also the ravens Have a Good depth at WR, At they Might draft a Wr.

The tank Birk, great player and person. He retire and probably Gino will take the job

RAY LEWIS- Best MLB player Ever! no more to say. He cant be replaced.

The NFL is going to send the Ravens to CHICAGO to play the Bears in the opener.
I strongly believe they might do this, just to stick it to the MLB and eat into their Chicago ratings.

The O's will survive, the Ravens will survive, us rabid fans of both teams will survive, the sun will rise in the east and set in the west, the team will win that first game away and make homecoming and SB celebration that much more enjoyable! After the younger and much faster D gets their feet wet and the O continues it's prolific output all will be right with the football world and, who knows, maybe the O's will once again be in a pennant race and double the fun for dyed in the wool B'More sports fans.

When you consider the speedy pace and ferocity of your typical MLB game, "...moving the game forward would give them less rest" is a silly excuse. Most of the game is spent sitting on a bench or standing on a field, catch up on some rest there!

Seriously, move the game forward and stop acting like anybody is gonna give a crap about the Orioles once football season begins.

Well fans after all the events that have unfolded in front of us, between players released and players leaving for more money, And now we are losing to our own baseball team. Am I selfish or wrong to think (as fans) that it seems all we are getting lately since the Superbowl, is the short end of every deal? I'm tired of hearing "rebuilding" and what not, why does the business end of this stuff seem to take the wind out of my sails. I guess I'm just venting but all of this "business" and moves by players for more money seems to take away from what they even play for. Imagine if you did that with your marriage (LOL some may have) "Well honey you were fun for a few years but I just agreed to a new wife for 7 years with a guaranteed no complaining bonus for 5". It's not like you'd look at her and say "hey, it's just business!"

I don't know why they couldn't just schedule a double-header on Fri.????

I love the O's, sure, but I don't get as excited about them as The RAVENS, esp. once Sept. comes around. (Can't wait for July to get here and we get back to camp and football).

I hope we don't open at Pitt. only because they're hated in most parts, around here. I'd rather us play in Chicago, so at least we're not giving Pitt. or Den. our NFL debut-game 'Glory', since Denver was eliminated from the playoffs last January, they might be rivals with us too. Play an NFC team 1st!!!!!

The NFL could send the game to Monday Sept 2nd.......it would build in an extra bye week in the season for the Ravens........And just let the networks deal with it.

Start on a Monday. But oh well I hope they load the schedule up with 3 or 4 home games in a row right at the end of the season.

The part about the marriage thing would obviously never happen but it sure would be nice to be able to bring in a younger female for a couple of months just for competion. Kind of the way they treat the kicker position. :lol3:

Just should have played the game on Wednesday night. All major sports leagues play on Christmas, Easter, etc. and oh by the way, there is a full slate of MLB games on Wednesday night, the first day of the Jewish Holiday. I'm guessing there will be approx. 10,000 Orioles Fans at Camden Yards on Sept. 5th at 7:00, and about 1,000 by 8:00 as they start bolting out of the park to catch the Ravens on TV.Let's open in Cleveland and bring the SB Trophy with us so the losers in Cleveland can get a good like at something they'll never put their hands on.

This proves what I always say -- baseball season is too long. End it at the end of August, so people don't have these conflicts. People want football in the fall, not baseball! And the idea that the World Champions have to move over for the Orioles, who broke .500 for the first time in fifteen years last year, is ludicrous. I blame Peter Angelos. I believe he had something to do with it.

As difficult as it’s been with the loss of some key players from our SB roster, I’m fine with it. It happens, we’re retooling, it’s a business, etc. The loss of our opening night is something I’m not fine with and can’t seeem to come to terms with. I’m beside myself to say the least.

I personally blame Angelos, Goodell and Selig, with each sharing equal amounts of the blame. Correction, Angelos gets a little more in my book just because he’s been a thorn in the side of Baltimore for more years than I care to look back upon.

Here’s the solution, especially for those that keep bringing up the whole thing about the O’s and Sox could be in a pennant race and their respective rotations would be thrown out of wack:

Play an extra game in Chicago during the series that’s scheduled in the first freaking week of July ! No pennant race then and Chicago would get an extra game as compensation. Bisciotti compensates Angelos as he’s on record stating he would do just that. We the fans get to partake in what we deserve, a SB party to open up the NFL season.

Go Ravens !!!

I am sure its going to be Broncos or Patriots. I prefer Broncos even though they are better then the NE. NE can pound sand they are irrelevant. We beat them 2 out of 3 up there in the playoffs we should be undefeated except they got lucky with Lee Evans, there is nothing left to prove up there or anywhere else for that matter. It would be nice to have Dumervil pass rushing on P Manning.
count the patriots out because they are a home game for us. most likely will be the steelers or chicago to rub it in seligs face. but i agree goodell screwed this up. could have easily played the game on wed., sun or mon night

The Orioles are going to wish they did not do this.... There are many that are going to stop supporting them for a while... Those football first type of fans... are going to hold this against the O's... it is really bad pr to upset the 1000's of folks that came out to support the super bowl champs a few months ago.. this is not going to sit well for them... this is a PR disaster for the Baltimore Orioles... they should be smarter than this...

Is all of this really worth it for the 10,000 who will be in attendance for the Sept. 5th Orioles-White Sox game ?

if anyone here has been paying attention this is not the orioles fault. the decision was made by all parties involved because there would not have been time to get the fans in and out safely and get everything else ready for tailgating and the celebration. the person to blame is goodell for not having the game on wed. or even moving it to sun or mon.. im not an angelos fan but he had no problem moving the game. he has a solid relationship with the ravens and had so many ravens players as honorary o's at the games this past season. it was the whitesox and the powers that be of mlb that were against it.

lol

Those are the PR statements put out. The Orioles organization was silent during this entire thing. They would have made it very clear they were trying to work something out. Plus, though it has since been changed (which makes me laugh) ESPN originally reported it was Angelos and Selig who wouldn't budge.

I hope they go to Cleveland, pummel the sackless and tackless? Kruger and the Browns, then come home the following Sunday, have a great celebration, then smack Carol and the Patsies right in the face! At least I can go to a Sunday game, I would have had a hard time attending on a Thursday night. Anyway, it's over, it ain't the end of the world, and the draft is right around the corner! By the way, who let Charlie Casserly out of the home?
