Baseball is one of the most boring, unathletic sports I've ever witnessed and played. Seriously, I have no clue how those "athletes" get injuries. Its ridiculous, they spend 90% of the time sitting on their butts. Sport. Right. Its one spot removed from golf as prime time for nap time. Even the players chew tobacco or gum to keep themselves from nodding off.

And besides that, there are so many games that it really doesn't even matter who wins/loses half the time they play. Garbage game.
You obviously know nothing about baseball, and by writing this comment you're coming off as ignorant.

I agree, MLB was kind of jerks about it. Who really cares about the Os vs White Sox anyway? We are world Champs!!!! Show some love.

For those who quoted me above...yes, I do know about baseball. I played it into high school. I know the strategies, I know the jargon, I know the action, I know the positioning, etc etc.
I am just naturally gifted to be good at any sport I play (except basketball, I can defend..just can't shoot for crap lol).
So to say that I'm ignorant is totally false.
I compare that to first hand experience of playing baseball, soccer, tennis (nationally ranked), football, rugby, and lacross...a couple of those all the way through the collegiate level at a division 1 school.
Baseball was a distraction for me, wasn't worth my time because I had real sports to concentrate on.
Thanks, come again.

Yeah but not everyone is Jewish or religious even, so i don't get why everything always caters to the minority. That goes for most things in society not just the nfl and this situation in particular. Im pretty anti-religion anyway, but why is one "holy day" more important than another? If that Thursday was the first day of Ramadan I'm sure they'd still play on that day. Separation of Church and Sports, its in the Constitution

yeah seriously some of these people on here smh. Members of the Os supported the Ravens this past post season and we want to basically stab them in the back.

Really, some of these comments are just pathetic. If you don't like baseball that's cool, but there's a lot of people posting on here who I feel are not fully educated on the whole situation.

It's not the orioles fault.

Agreed, its definitely not the Oriole's fault. Their schedule is set, and they try to win like any other team. They don't want double headers later in the season, or whenever they'd schedule them. Its not their fault the NFL decided, only 5 years ago, to make up a tradition.
The NFL should have had in mind cities with baseball/football teams and the conflicts that could happen...but it didn't.

Try either of them. I guarantee that you are naturally better at baseball than either of those....even if the only reason is because you may be out of shape and there isn't much action in baseball. Trust me, the other two take endurance

Agreed. So people shouldn't get mad at the O's for the NFL's screw ups.

An absolute joke and a disgrace to the Baltimore sports community.

I also played team sports from the time I was 8 through college (baseball, football, lacrosse, soccer, wrestling team and ran track). Anyone says that an MLB player is not an athlete is either ignorant or full of a huge amount of crap trying to pump up his/her own argument.

Insult to injury.
Watch the O's rain out.
Love my O's, but history over the last 2 decades says "rain out" or, more likely, "23 games out of first place".

A real Baltimore Sports fan would understand, don't blame the O's
How would you know what a real Baltimore sports fan would do? Does one live next door to you?

Anyway, the Indy fan is right. The Os are not to blame, nor are the Ravens. It is the NFL and whatever television station is showing the game. What we need to boycott is their BS concert that they are trying to placate Baltimore and ravens fan with. And boycott all the sponsors of the NFL and Thursday night football.

Why do we have to resort to this? Baseball is a beautiful game that next to football is the most popular in America. Oh and hitting a round ball with a round bat is no easy task and is widely considered to be the hardest thing to do in sports.
I play soccer and yes I know Tennis requires endurance, probably more endurance than any other sport. In fact, I'd probably put it up there with Nascar as far as entertainment goes. As for Lacrosse, it's not the actual sport per se that irritates me, it's the whole culture that surrounds it. After you've heard"Lax or Die Brah" about 4000 times; you want to gouge out your eyes with butter knife.

The difference between Rosh Hashanah and Christmas is that Christmas isn't a religious holiday, its a more traditional holiday that is based on wholly pagan rituals and customs and has nothing to do with the birth of Jesus. Rosh Hashanah is the jewish people's high holy day
That sentence describes all religions and their practices.

Uhhh no! I'm not in. This was not the Orioles problem, this was the NFL's problem, and they didn't do enough to solve it. All the NFL had to do was play on Wed, they have played on Rosh Hashanah before, they have opened on Wednesday before. I see no reason why this couldn't have been worked. out.
Baltimore has one of the highest Jewish populations in the country. There is a reason they didn't do it on Rosh Hashanah.

No I'm not in. Kevin Byrne was just on WNST and said the O's were willing to move their game, but logistics could not be worked out. I blame Roger Goodell and NBC. They moved the game last year and refuse to do it this year for Ravens fans.

I vote the fans do their famous horse manure chant next time NBC does one of our games.
No, they WEREN'T willing to move their game, they were willing to move the TIME to 4PM. How was that gonna help? It wasn't, so it was a worthless gesture. They were just as stubborn as anyone else in this entire fiasco.

They have done it before, and they do it on Christmas and Thanksgiving. I repeat absolutely no reason not to do it on Rosh Hashanah.

Yea....unless it went into extra innings, something the O's team from last year had a penchant of doing pretty often. OT is comparatively pretty rare in football compared to extra innings games in baseball or at least it seems that way. I understand if the Ravens didn't want to take that chance.

Boycott the Orioles September 5, 2013 - September 8, 2013 Home stand against the Chicago White Sox. We as Baltimore fans must not stand for this. Our city freaking wins the Super Bowl and this is how they treat us!!!! Spread the word. ARE YOU IN??
I already am boycotting the Orioles for how they handled THEIR OWN playoff games.

The entire season, those center field seats(the ones up on the deck by the bar) were general admission. First come-first serve. Then, without ANY notice or statement... fans who waited to be at the first playoff game in over a decade... were turned away and told that those seats were all of a sudden reserved?!?

I'm with you, and it's really got nothing to do with the Ravens. The Orioles are just run horribly when it comes to the fans and off the field issues. I don't blame them for the Ravens opener. Could they help? Sure. But do they have to? No. The NFL could EASILY play Wednesday and they have abolutely no good reason not to.

The bottom line is, they want to feature Peyton Manning on the NFL opener. And the only way I'll be convinced otherwise is when the schedule is set in ink and the Ravens are playing anyone other than the Broncos on Week 1.
