Wow thanks for clarifiying, now what's the arguement for not playing on Wednesday?
My guess is that NBC said no to a Wednesday game. They did it in 2012, but my understanding is that the ratings were down 15% from the Thursday 2011 opener. They won't officially say so, but it just doesn't make any sense to not play on Wednesday unless the Network was behind it. They're the only ones with a real reason for objecting to it.

Blame the guy who put the stadiums so close together !!!!!!!! If the stadiums were fifteen miles apart, this would not be an issue.

Blame the guy who laid out the the parking lots. If there were 70,000 additional parking spaces this would not be an issue.

Blame the fans. If only two or three thousand people went to the O's game and the Ravens game, this would not be an issue.

Blame modern technology. If they had that teleporting stuff down pat, this would not be an issue.

To be honest, can baseball even be considered America's national past time anymore? I'd say its football for sure. Each game is an event...baseball is more of something to have on in the background. Or when you can't fall asleep and need some help :)

You are right, they have played NFL games on this holiday. But read back through the thread, you'll find that it was the Ravens' decision not to play on Wednesday.
When the sched conflict was first adressed nearly 3 weeks ago, Goodell said in a presser that "playing on Wed nite is not an option as it is a (Jewish holiday) ". I'm guessing it never got to the point of it really being a Ravens decision.

There were a couple of articles on this site that stated it was a Ravens decision. If you look at the thread that was started around the date it was announced you'll find the links. Says something to the effect of "Dick Cass and the NFL announced" and "the Ravens organization said", etc.

Eh, it should turn out as an advantage for the success of the Team, especially if we play Denver. For me, the whole season opening celebration thing is overrated.
I think the whole "opening in Denver is an advantage for the Ravens" is overated. It's a fact that Peyton plays much better in warmer weather. I hope we play him in December. I think the extra three days between the next game is overated also. This is the first game of the season. Are we that soft that we can't play a game with seven days off after a seven month break. I don't think so. This game is being sent on the road instead of being moved to Wednesday because ot telivision. Go Ravens...Go Os.

Boycott the O's!!?? For what? MLB starts in April and the NFL starts in September and in September if the O's our making a play off run, every game is important. Do you think the NFL would move a game date for the MLB?

If you want to blame someone, please blame the NFL and roger goodell. I believe the NFL started the 2012 season on a Wednesday night, so what is the big deal in 2013?

Welcome back!

Well, I guess you could look at it that way from a win/lose perspective, but being "soft" has nothing to do with it. Fact is that flying out west is difficult, as is playing games at Mile High. And it's not only the rest afterwards, it's the recovery period prior to the game, which in this case we would be coming out of camp, not recovering from the previous week's game before the long flight there and back.

It's widely known that the beginning of our season last year(4 games, 17 days) probably contributed to the occurrence of a lot of the nagging injuries many of our players suffered with all year. Getting this difficult game out of the way at the start of the season would be huge, win or lose.

Also, we tend to do well against the first team we play since we have a long time to game plan, so maybe getting the Broncos first would give us an edge there too. Still I am firmly in the camp that we are getting screwed by the NFL...again.

Agreed. But maybe we're building bonus points to cash in later!

Why is this still up nothing we can do about it. It's whatever. Besides we get an home game later in the year perhaps when it matters more? I'd rather play on the road and we will win still. It proves we are greater. It's just another thing we gotta face. deal with it.
Agreed! And the whole hype will be how great Peyton is but y'all have me convinced this is a strategically good move -- I like getting the night games out of the way early like last year.

The difference between Rosh Hashanah and Christmas is that Christmas isn't a religious holiday, its a more traditional holiday that is based on wholly pagan rituals and customs and has nothing to do with the birth of Jesus. Rosh Hashanah is the jewish people's high holy day
You're wrong, there is no difference. You're splitting hairs, and because you're Jewish, are taking that stance.
