He can? Surprise to me. He can't tackle. Sure he gets INT's, but he gambles so much anymore without having the same speed he used to have, that he gets burnt on several passes when a good Qb throws it down the field at him. Sometimes he is expected to be in help defense, but then he's not in position which allows for an easy deep completion. His name is what is giving him the rep. Not the talent anymore. Sure qb's may be scared of throwing at him, but thats not based on his recent performances in any way. Plus, he gets hurt wayyy too often.
His physical attributes are certainly not what they used to be but based on his football IQ alone he can still make game changing plays on the field. Still the best ballhawk in the league but that's just my opinion and you can slate him as much as you want.

I wonder if coaches will tell Joe lime other OCs tell their qbs, don't throw at him. I think Joe can bait Reed and will try him at least once. Joe will want the win as much as Reed, the problem is Reed is a film junkie and already knows our offense. The team as a whole should want revenge for that loss last year. I would say I hope this is the opener, but I'd rather wait til later or make this a MNF game. I say Reed gets none.

Ahh, Earl Thomas, Jairus Byrd... just two I can think of who are better than Reed. There has got to be more, but those two are on the top of my head. Plus, Huff isn't much worse than Reed at this point in Reed's career. But like you said, to each his/her own.

Zero . Joe will make Ed's head bobble like a
bobble head .

If any receiver catches the ball near Reed he's guaranteed to gain 10 -30 more yards cause he can't tackle anymore

Joe knows Reed's tendencies? LMAO

Joe likes to chuck it as far and as hard as his arm can handle, and Ed is well aware of that. I say atleast 1 pick or none but he will definitely affect the passing game on that day.

I will say 1. BUT... Jonathan Joseph will have 2! The guy owns Flacco, and that was WITHOUT Reed back there making things even more difficult.

And with all that said, I expect this game to look a lot like the Ravens/Jets game from a couple years ago. Almost all defense, and no offense. Assuming Ravens get Elvis Dumervil, they're going to be a nightmare up front. either way, I think they'll be improving their run defense with Canty and Spears and whatever linebackers they get in the draft. Schaub is horrible and the Texans havne't made any big improvements to their receiving game which is long overdue.

Plenty of turnovers and 3 and outs in this game. If the defenses aren't scoring, it will probably be very low scoring.

Except against Denver.... and New Engand... and San Francisco...

I'd say Reed gets beat deep a lot less than Ray Rice fumbles, but I don't hear you calling for his head?
Trust me I complain about Ray Rice just go to the Indy and Denver playoff playoff game thread,"fumbles the ball too much" "cant hit the whole to save his life". This thread has nothing to do with Ray Rice therefore I have no reason to bring his name up.

To be honest? JJ Watt will probably bat a ball and Ed Reed will come down with it. Or Joseph will pick it and Ed will get his hands on it.

I highly doubt Ed Reed picks off a ball just like that. A deflection, sure. If Jow throws to Jacoby or Torrey it'll be behind Ed Reed. I'm more or less scared of JJ Swatting balls up in the air though.

Like Arthur Jones did Tom Brady. But Jones Jr. said it was due to reading Brady's tendencies of how low he throws the ball in certain situations. I don't think Joe throws low.

I change my answer.

Ed WILL get a pick, but he will (as always) try to ladderal it, and we will pick his pick.

:D

0, unless we meet in the playoffs. Then I think its safe to say at least once. Joe is great, but Ed tends to have balls kind of float to his hands. wouldn't say that it's out of the realm of possibility that Joe Flacco goes through his career without being picked off by Ed Reed.

Absolutely zero. Ask not what Reed will do to us... ask only what Flacco will do to him. 4 Td's against the Texans from Flacco, and at least 1 given up by Reed, in a statement game of the ages. It is the year that Reed gets exposed as an over the hill vet living off of only name recognition. 2013. The year Reed gets exposed.

Ok... when was the last time Joe had a good game agianst the Texans d.... we may have won but was belittled by Ed after the game... do I go with at least 1.

I'm hoping for ZERO. I remember a CB that QBs were scared of throwing to when he was in Oakland then he went to Philly and got exposed.
In Philly they had man to man corners playing zone coverage.

Torrey had one good game during the playoffs and that was against Denver who leave their CBS alone and hope they don't get burnt. What did Torrey do against the Texans last year.

It was actually Pernell Mcphee who deflected Brady's pass. :)

In Joes defense Cam Cameron wasn't exactly helping the offense grow. I think the offense as a whole remembers getting curb stomped and shows up next time they play the Texans. I don't think he throws a pick but NO ONE knows Reeds tendencies.

And Ed belittling Flacco... hmph... funny, I thought he was a Raven at that time.. I thought that you're supposed to back your teammates up and protect them, just like Suggs and Ray did. Silly me, I must be wrong

With the aging and injury plague, Ed should have retired this year, but with his reputation and wisdom, he can earn big money from anywhere.

I don't think Joe will throw any interception against Ed cuz Joe right now is a different animal. Joe will tear up that semi inexperienced Texans defense. In preference, he tore up #1 defense 40whiners.......

It's sad to see Ed get exposed, but it is how it is.......

PS: Ed, come join Balitmore Ring of Honor......

Since we face them this year, it'll be interesting to see Joe match up against Reed in game instead of practice. How many, if any, picks will Reed get? I say 1, since we throw it deep a lot and Joe isn't usually afraid to throw it at anyone no matter who they are.
Reed doesn't get nearly as many picks as he used to, so the odds are against him even getting any.
Edit: mods, I think it's time to close this.

Also, the fact that those two are gone is lessened by the fact that he has better players around him, a better line, and a better coordinator. I'm gonna leave it at that.
