Blame Joe Flacco game

I am getting really aggravated hearing everyone say it's Flacco's fault that this mass exodus is happening. Even Brian Billick has changed his tune. One day he says no his contract his nothing to do with the moves and doesn't hurt the team, then the next he says yeah it does hurt them. I guess most don't realize that Joe's contract is cap friendly and he did help the team. It's either that or let him walk. And does anyone think that they would really let him walk? He can't be so bad of a QB if other teams were interested in stealing him before the playoffs even started.

Ed wouldn't have even been around long enough to be effected by Flacco's cap number. He's retiring in a year or two.

Joe is, was, and always will, be an easy target. He's the antithesis of what people think a star quarterback should be - he barely says anything, never does commercials, is always about the game. And he plays on a team that has emphasized winning over individual stats for 5 years, and is okay with that. Most people point to his lack of 4000 yard 30+ TD seasons without having an answer for the fact that we are always top 10 in rushing yards AND TDs, while most other teams don't have that luxury. Because Joe doesn't put up numbers, people who don't watch our games consistently don't understand how good he is or what he does - perfect example being last year's Arizona game. That's what Joe is about - his play wins us a lot of games, but he rarely will get the credit in the box score.

I totally agree. I didn't see an issue when he signed it and I don't see one now. If we didn't sign him folks complain, we signed him they still complain.

Although its already gone on record that he'll most likely come back and renegotiate down the road, which is awful considerate of him, but he's only making 6.8 million this year, which was less than Boldin, and Reed wanted who are both at the twilight of their careers where as Joe has entered his prime.

We're going to need a lot of guys to step up early though in their careers in the future though before they look for the big bucks if we want to be successful.

And we'll continue drafting and developing more unknowns into proven players than any other team.

We glory in that we have 12 draft picks but we forget about our UDFA success which is also unparalleled in the NFL. It seems that each year, 2 or 3 UDFAs are making our team in addition to all of our draft picks.

This is why even guys like Canty and Spears can't get too comfortable.

We will develop more guys who down the road other teams may overpay to take.

Not to mention Kruger did absolutely NOTHING his first 2 years here, was okay last year, and then did NOTHING this year until Suggs got back. And people are acting like we just let go of Peter Boulware and Trevor Pryce combined.

The funny thing about this is that it's ultimately the front office that paid Joe the contract. I don't hear anyone blaming Ozzie, Steve, Eric, Joe, Pat, etc. for actually AGREEING to the contract. People are acting like for this price, Joe should have been told to take a hike - well the front office didn't do that, did they? If Flacco at this price was so replaceable, the front office that everyone claims is one of the best in football should have said "walk". They didn't. They kept Joe. But nobody is talking about that, they are acting like Joe walked in there with a gun and threatened them or something, or bamboozled them into giving him the money. The front office could have extended Kruger and Ellerbe and Reed LAST offseason, but they didn't. They could have extended Boldin, but they didn't. They could have extended Flacco, but they didn't. And again, if they thought keeping all of those players over Joe was better for the team, they could have done so. But they didn't. How convenient it is for some people to casually omit this fact whenever talking about Joe's contract - I'm looking at YOU, Charley Casserly - why is it the Redskins never went to the playoffs under you, and the Texans never did either, but you think the front office that's won 2 Superbowls, and has been to 5 straight postseasons and 3 AFCCGs since 2008, got hoodwinked by greedy Joe Flacco?

Not at all, you need to listen to the media/ talking heads, then read comments at the bottem of online articles. It's all Joes fault, he's not even good, and winning the Super Bowl means nothing because we are going to suck next year. I think that is what I've gathered so far.

If anyone wants to "blame" anyone, it's blaming Ozzie Newsome for his brilliant "right player, right price" mantra and quiet, confident stubborness.

Ozzie goes to all the practices and he knows how much players are worth. He told them how much their worth. GMs who didn't attend all the practices and probably didn't watch every snap of Ravens football made another estimation of these player's worth.

Let them talk and don't even pay attention. I turn on NFLTA almost every night to get the NEWS. When they start babbling with their opinions, my ears automatically shut down. Same with NFL Live, NFL 32, NFL AM, etc.

Also, I knew Joe Flacco was our franchise QB, was worth as good a contract as any other QB and that he'd never get the credit he deserves in 2009, after he led the offense to score time and time again and was so clutch to come all the way up to fg range to beat the Vikings and we lost a game to the undefeated Minnesota Vikings due to Steve Hauschka.
