I like your thinking here. Not sure if Starks is much better than McKinnie, but I suspect he will be cheaper.
he stopped terrell suggs alot when he played with pittsburgh now he will help Flacco plus he is younger which means he will be in the league more years to come

he said he is not giving us a discount this year lets sign a cheap vet who is better in the running game and passing game like Max Starks
Not to high on Starks. Mckinnie is not taking a discount for us, but his market will do that for us. He knows our scheme, and should be pretty cheap. If he is not we won't sign him, and maybe we do sign a Starks.

Given the fact that he has drawn little interest on the open market, I doubt Mckinnie will be expensive anyway. And didn't Max Starks have weight issues as well?

Edit: Wrong person, I think.

Guy is a Turd, will probably come in unmotivated and out of shape again. If possible I would rather see a rookie or 1-2 year player in his place.
How many decent LTs will be there when we draft? I say sign Fat Albert Mac to a contract and hope for the best.

Harbs was also sending text to reed. Means nothing.
I wonder if Harbs texted his brother about taking Boldin off his hands too!

Another option is to draft a RT and move Mikey back over. Oh no! We already tried that and we all know how that turned out.

I'm really concerned about re-signing him. Won't lie. He's a big risk, haha.
I would take him back if the price was not too high, I know he is looking for more but I don't think the offers will be pouring in. He may have to come to that reality soon.

LOL Yea not sure I want to go there again. That is a last, and I mean last resort.

Personally, I would love to draft Reid Fragel. I think he can be had in the 4th round with pick #129 or 130. I love the way he plays and he can still learn to play better. He is athletic & has great size. A converted TE to OT. I think this kid will be a stud and he is very underrated with guys like Armstead & Faulk out there.

He needs to get better, but that's fine. Get a stop-gap and let him learn behind them.

Wouldn't that be McKinnie? IDK who else would be out there, maybe Vollmer but he's played mostly right tackle his whole career.

Could be. It depends on how much he wants. That's all. If we can get him cheap, sure. Just doesn't sound like it. I'd take Starks because I see him as being cheaper, probably get him vet min. I don't see McKinnie going for that.

I rather start fresh and draft a LT.
I think we all would, the question is can we find a guy who can step in day 1 and be the starter in September 2013? I don't think so where we're picking in the draft, so our best option is probably to get a guy who could start in 2014 with proper coaching, and sign a vet to a 1 year deal to ply for us next year. Problem is our best bet might be McKinnie.

They can keep building their line off our FAs, I guess.

With all the draft picks we have this year, I can see us trading up to get Lane Johnson. Since McKinnie isn't drawing any interest, we can sign him after the draft if we don't get a stud LT.

It's probably the most likely thing, but seems like these days Ozzie trades every year and he did trade up back in 2003 to get Kyle Boller.

Wouldn't we all, but that means moving up to draft a quality LT, or risk Joe the pancake next year. If we are not going to move up alot in the draft, than we need to draft a "potential LT" which we will need a guy like McKinney until he is ready or if he doesn't pan out.

I strongly disagree that LT is our greatest weakness on this team. I understand nobody wants Oher there, and we could definitely upgrade Oher, but there are players who could be upgraded more than Oher.

He sat out the whole season. Cut him.

Ha, wow! No, he didnt AND he's a free agent. Quickest way to be wrong twice. Only 8 words...impressive!

I'm surprised he's still talking to Harbaugh. I heard he was offered the part of Jabba the Hutt in the new Star Wars movie.
You mean Cody didn't get the role? He must be upset let me call him.

To get Johnson we would have to trade up more than 20 spots into the top ten. That would require a future 1st round pick. Except for a franchise QB, Ozzie will not make that trade.
I think if he had the opportunity to give up multiple 1st's for Clowney he would do it... And I would commend him for it. My point being that it doesn't necessarily have to be a franchise QB.

What's the only thing better than a good franchise QB? A good franchise LT. I wish Oz would get over the Kyle Boller debacle and just go get a guy that could be on this team protecting Joe for a long time.

What do you mean by the Kyle Boller debacle? We drafted Suggs and Jarrett Johnson in that draft first, so it wasn't that bad. However, the year after that was awful. Its really not that easy to get one, when you draft at 25+ year in and year out.

I don't know how likely it is to happen, but I'd LOVE for us to try to make a trade with Jax for Eugene Monroe.

The Jaguars clearly have one of the weakest squads in the NFL, and would love to get more draft picks. With the second pick in the draft, they are guaranteed to have the option of drafting one of Joeckel or Fisher, so replacing a player of Monroe's quality wouldn't be an issue.

Monroe is just as good a run blocker as he is in pass protection, and in my opinion is in the top 10 LTs in the NFL. The problem is that he was the 8th pick in the 2009 draft, and at 25 years old, he'll be expensive.

I'd happily give up a lot for him though. He really stood out in a poor Jax team, and is proven NFL quality who will be around for many years to come.
