If anything, I'd say it helps because we have more money left for Elvis. Money is what he'll be after if he leaves Denver.
Nope. Dumervil wants money. No Ed Reed means more money to work with.
You guys beat me to it. I have a greater belief that we will sign Dumervil now.

I see what you're saying, but if Vincent Jackson and Carl Nicks went to the Bucs last year, I don't see why Dumervil would be put off by all the departures.I'm not talking about the money aspect of it. Sure Reed going to Houston frees up cap space, that's understood. I'm talking about does Dumrevil see the Ravens as even less as a contender with the latest departure of Ed Reed. Like many analyst have stated, with all of the free agency moves, cuts, and trades would Dumervil want to come to a team that they perceive as rebuilding and may struggle to get to the playoffs?

But he's made it clear that he's in it for the money, which we have more free now that we're not signing Reed like others have said.

Ray Lewis- BEST ILB of all time...no question...best field general...no question BUT couldnt drop into coverage anymore. He made ALOT of tackles after his injury BUT where were they.....3-5 yards past the line of scrimage ( sorry but true ). Plus he missed some tackles that he wouldnt have a couple years ago. Outside of leadership ( which is huge ) we didnt lose much.
Paul Kruger- Great player and good pass rusher. However he was not an every down End and benefited from having Suggs on the other side. Mark my words he WILL NOT do what he did here in Cleveland. Easily replaced by Upshaw.
Dannell Ellerbe- Was good in coverage and at stuffing the run. However, he shinned this year with a great coach in Lewis and Im not sold that he wasnt a one year wonder....again lets see if he is a huge upgrade for Miami.
Cary Williams- Showed flashes of being good but showed why more things that were bad. He is an AWEFUL tackler. He never wrapped up and alway tried to shoulder tackle EVERYONE. HORRID. Plus he got beat alot in coverage. EASILY replaced by Smith or Graham. No lose at all IMO.
Bernard Pollard- Hard hitter and great tackler. However he caused ALOT of penalties and is prob a hit or two away from a suspension. If the rumors are true of him being disruptive in the locker room...then even better for us. I loved the way he hit but its not condusive to todaies NFL ( Unfortunatly ) and was NOT good in coverage. Again already replaced by Ihedigbo plus we will prob draft one.
Ed Reed- Again..greatest FS of all time....AWESOME is the only way to describe him and I was sad to see him go ( if infact he does sign with Houston.....it aint done yet. lol ) However, he is hurt ALOT and is getting older (35) next season. Ed still got his INT's last year but they seemed to be more because they were thorowing at him instead of him flying out of nowhere at picking the ball as of old ( I hope that made sense ). He has lost a step and again is not a good tackler. People litterally jumped over him this year. That wouldnt have happened like Ray a couple years ago. Still sad that he may be gone....shouldve retired a Raven.
We still have Suggs and Ngata, who when healthy are still the best in the NFL at their respective positions. Webb will be back healthy....so we have one of the best cover DB's in league. Smith stepped up last year and losing his position last year seemed to be a wake up call. Graham was huge last year and will be better after a year in the system. Our Dline was beefed up to stop the run with Canty and Spears plus add our young guys from last especially Brown. I honestly think we will sign Huff to replace Ed and per all the rankings last season Huff graded out better then Reed. So in conclusion....we draft some Mike and Sam LB's and a FS we are going to be just fine and possibly better then last year. Remeber....we lost guys from a D that was NOT that good last year. IT's going to be ok and to follow up on the Dumervil question....why wouldnt he want to come here and be on that HEALTHY Dline.

If we add Huff and Dumervil, we aren't rebuilding. We're reBUILT.

Add an ILB to that lineup and I will agree with you.

On the OP, I think it increases it. I REALLY think Oz's plan all along was to shed exactly who we've shed and to replace them from within while adding pieces like Dumervil (they didn't target him but he has kind of fallen open to them) and Huff to replace Kruger and Reed (who, taking production into account, are upgrades at those positions).
The more I look back on the messages and reports on the FO, the more it seems like the Ravens showed "interest" in Reed out of some loyalty/appreciation/whatever you want to call it and because fan outcry would have been high if they hadn't. But I think the plan all along was that Reed was heading out. It was only a matter of, would his replacement come from the draft (with Reed mentoring him while here) or an established safety in Free Agency if Reed left.
