I Wonder What the AFC North Rivals Think About the Ravens Now?

113 posts in this topic

The fans of these teams are loving it and talking all kinds of trash. The actual teams and organizations, however, all know better. They know it's still our division until another team steps up and takes it away.

I already kind of knew it anyway, but this off season has made it glaringly apparent that the majority of nfl fans have very little actual nfl knowledge and their opinions come strictly from headlines or sound bites from the talking heads.

That's why I never make vast and uninformed retarded assumptions about other teams, because i know that i don't know their inner workings as much as the fans of that team do, or i at least do actual research before forming an opinion on a situation.

Very well said man, there's a lot of little details about each team that only the respective fans know about. Like early in the season one of my buddies was upset that Pierce was getting all of Ray Rice's (His fantasy RB) carries and I had to keep telling him that Bernard Pierce is the truth, he may be the future.

Cinci will screw up
Pit is going to suck
The browns are the browns

Oh, the city of SF is now making it its sole purpose to bash you guys. The think we go 5-11 after this offseason. Saying "we overpaid a backup QB" "Boldin, Pollard, Reed, Ellerbe, and Birk is too much"

While they sign Glenn Dorsey and declare all pro
Get a WR that only has a year or two left
And get a 38 year old kicker.....

"While you rot in the NFL cellar, we will drink like kings. Just give us the Lombardi already"

But back on topic, who cares?
Hahaha. Those silly 49er fans. Do they not realize that our "backup QB", against their #2 ranked defense, posted the best Super Bowl performance since their own Steve Young?

Interesting assessment. The Browns have a glaring problem though and it is Weedon. To compensate for that IMO they would need a defense like our 2000 D and I don't see it. For that reason, I don't see them making the playoffs or taking 2nd place within the AFCN.

Steelers are hurting but IMO their season hinges on 2 things. Can Haley & Ben co-exist? Can Ben stay healthy? I think the answer to both questions is NO but remains to be seen.

Bengals, eh who knows. So far they have proven they are still the Bungles.

I don't know about that. They have Richardson and a strong OL with probably one weakness on it. I think Weeden can be a good game manager. I do not see him being great. But then again, I don't see much difference between him and Schaub except Schaub has more starting experience.

I don't care what they think of us - our problem in this division has always been scoring points on our opponents, and I don't think we'll have that problem anymore. I'm very confident in what Jim Caldwell's new offense will do for us. Besides, aside from Q all of the players we lost were on a defense that was middle of the league in YPG given up and just barely made the top 10 in PPG given up

Most fans of other AFCN teams are laughing and think the Ravens are going to suck for years after this exodus. Just look here at the Bengals board:

http://boards.bengal...ad.php?t=110444

http://boards.bengal...t=110199&page=2
LOL the all-jail team cant talk; AJ green and Andy Dalton will most likely be in purgatory(reliant stadium) for the rest of their careers in the playoffs.

First off, congratulations on the Ravens winning the Super Bowl. It was well deserved and hard fought and no amount of 9ers sour grapes will take that away. They got beat in the biggest game and the Ravens are the ones who beat them, the Ravens are the champions.

Now, I don't think any Bengals fans are discounting the Ravens this year and they aren't discounting the Steelers either. Many, myself included, do believe that the Ravens won't be the same as in the past though and the unknown is what has expectations high in Bengaldom to win the AFC North this year.

We all know that both the Ravens and Steelers have great organizations and both know how to win. Both teams know where to put the right personnel, who to get for what role and just win games. The Ravens losing the guys they lost this offseason is going to change the look of the Ravens, but again the Ravens know how to win. They may have a down year every once in a while, but they fix their problems.

I'm sure Marvin Lewis has already penciled the Bungles in as the Division winners, as he probably does every year. The Steelers deep inside have been humbled although they won't admit it. The Browns already have their paper bags out. I don't get the love the Browns get around here. Weeden isn't that good, and by the time he is it will be time to retire. They have a few very talented players on Defense but have holes they can't fill that keep it from being great. They have a talented O-line but outside of Gordon bad skill players. And the jury is out on Richardson, he'll get around 300 carries but will he do anything special with them? Given their average draft position over the last 5 years they should be way ahead of where they are now.

Except the Browns. They're the Browns, they'll still find ways to lose
Hey now. Don't forget the Browns just signed that Kruger guy to a fat contract. He is gonna right the ship. He said so himself! ;)

You know, I agree with that assessment.
Weedon, while not great, didn't rattle easily, and the Browns hung in there to the end in almost every game last year. I thought they were a much tougher team than their record suggests, but maybe that's a given in the AFCN.

Trent Rchardson's the real deal
And who's to say what Kruger might grow into given the opportunity?

Andre Johnson. Little and Gordon have talent, but they also drop more than their fair share of balls and are young. I'm sure Weeden trusts them, but Shaub basically knows if he lobs it within yards of AJ, it's a completion. Not to mention Gary Kubiak is at worst top 2 or 3 in the league right now in terms of developing quarterbacks and playing to his quarterbacks' strengths. Chudzinski did well with Newton, but he can't claim what Kubiak has accomplished yet.

I expect our divisional rivals have been rather enjoying seeing so many players heading for the departure lounge in Baltimore. They shouldn't laugh too loud, or get too comfortable, though because Cincinnati, Pittsburgh and Cleveland all have their own problems too.

Even with all the departures we've endured, we still have enough good players on our roster to be competitive next year.

This. What Kubiak can do with his offenses is unreal. That and have the zone stretch run blocking scheme is devastating when you have the Oline who can run it properly, which Kubiak does.

Our AFCN fellows are laughing their butts off at the disrespect heaved upon us by the NFL & MLB by making us open the season on the road knowing full well they would never be treated this way. And they're right.

I didn't say none of them would have the issue, I said none of them would be sent on the road to open the season. Guarantee it. We'll never know because, as up and coming as Cincy is during the regular season, they have this playoff issue.

Our rivals were hoping we would stay old, and not inject youth and speed into the lineup.
They saw the mighty Raven defence struggle last year, and uncharacteristically not be able to stop the run. We had prided ourselves on not allowing any RB to gain 100 yards on us in the past, and suddenly it was happening all too often.

Only the truly stupid will look at the exodus and say "they will suck! They will be lucky to win a game!"

Those that know the game will see how we have adjusted. And they will be afraid.

Better to let a player go a year too early, than a year too late.

As we saw with Gregg, Heap and Mason: we let go of guys at the exact right time. Everyone goes into the season thinking they have a good shot to be better than they were the year before. The Steelers, everyone is counting out the Steelers but they really shouldn't: The Steelers draft well and have some young guys who haven't made a name for themselves:

yet.

Furthermore, after a year with heavy injuries, guys tend to recover and comeback. They get Decastro back. Polamalu might be able to stay healthy. Timmons. Worlids. They're probably going to draft a real stud who can contribute right away. Plus, they're the only other team in the division who has a Quarterback. Of course, I favor Flacco over Roethlisberger, but Ben can still make plays and had a good 13 game season last year even behind his shambles of an O-line.

I'm going to be excited to see Steelers v. Ravens, and the Bengals haven't worried me since they lost JJoseph. That guy and their cover-2 really had Joe's number his first few years. I'm not worried about the Bengals at all.

Okay, okay so the other QBs in our division are most likely not real happy right now.

What's happening? Any snow on the ground in Canada? In MD it's coming down right now!

I know Roethlisberger isn't happy. In 5 games against Pittsburgh, Dumveril has 4.5 sacks and 2 forced fumbles and has been a constant presence in Roethlisbergers face.

Cleveland has alot of young talent, but it doesn't help to switch regimes again. All of those high draft picks have added up but they still have to learn how to win ( they played tough in many games last season but found ways to lose close ones ).
Bengals seem like they should be ready to take the next step. Win a playoff game.

Division could play out similar to last years NFCW. Where all the teams compete well against each other regardless of records.

Ok I was on steelersaddicts.com (ya I no for what you ask?) looking to see what they had to say about the doom signing and they brought up how Harrison was IN baltimore when we finished the deal with doom so 2 questions

1.did we just say thanx for coming but no thanks and give him a slap upshaw powerd open hand slap to the face (which I would find funny as hell) or are we still considering him

2.second statement that caught my eye was them saying they would HATE to see us convert him to ILB with suggs and doom on the outside because they feel it would be a nasty combo (would be killer on 3rd down if nothing else) do you think the ravens have even thought about it/ would he be better moving inside than Albert?
