Geez...feel kinda bad for the old guy. But yeah, No thanks.

Some of it may be karma. In 2008 Urlacher threatened to hold out when he still had some years on his deal. He went ahead and caused a big stir in the press and compared his salary to that of a "chair builder/maker" and proceeded to get 18 more million guaranteed shortly thereafter.

He stated a few months back how he doesn't care about the fans or media, threw Cutler under the bus in '09/'10, failed to speak to the media for years from '07-'10 in general, and has created another stir on all the radio channels due to this current incident.

He isn't the Saint that alot of people assume he is. His enormous ego was on display during the Bas Rutten incident.

I don't really have a problem with the age thing, since we could use his leadership qualities having lost Ray and Ed and half of our defense for that matter. That said, he doesn't fit in the 3-4. For that reason, I'll pass.

Didn't know any of that...guess I'm glad I didn't throw a sympathy vote his way. ;)

I watched a couple Bears games last season and he got run over, badly several times.
I think we have plenty of guys currently on our payroll that can do the same, but for less. ;)

No problem man. For sme odd reason Urlacher's negative stories are always shoved under the rug. Him leaving his new wife and infant child for Paris Hilton in 2002 for example is never discussed. His messy child custody suit with another woman in which he was sending nasty texts is never mentioned either.

Here is the link to is 2008 contract dispute:

Talking trash about Cutler in 2009:
http://articles.chicagotribune.com/2009-07-30/sports/0907290976_1_jay-cutler-brian-urlacher-bears-wide-receivers

Bas Rutten incident in 2008/09:

Throw in the media freeze for years a few years ago, the stuff a listed above, and his recent comments in December where he mentioned he doesn't care about the fans and I am confused as to why anyone uses words like "humble" or "leader" when it comes to Urlacher.

I wouldn't want to pick him up even for the offer he was insulted by (what, 2 mil?). I almost feel he should pay the Ravens so he can contend if anything at all. He's not a good player any more and he's not a good person.

Urlacher was terrible last season and his overrated for many seasons now.

When Ray was 34 he was a 1st Team All Pro. Urlacher at the same age was the 2nd worst ILB/MLB in the entire NFL vs the run. PFF had him at -13.6. He also has missed a ton of tackles last year (I think the number was 15 but don't quote me on it).

Urlacher is terrible at taking on blocks and doesn't provide anything as a pass rusher as he hardly ever applies pressure on the QB. The only thing he is useful for is some zone coverage at this point.

His leadership qualities are overrated as well. His defenses have only been elite in 5 of the 13 seasons he was the leader of the Bears and most Bears players would argue that other players (Mike Brown, Briggs, Peppers, Tillman) have been the real leaders on the defense.

Even when he was allegedly elite he would get embarrassed by numerous players. James Stewart, Jerome Bettis, Brandon Jacobs, juked by Brady & Rodgers, Ryan Torain, Addai and Rhodes in the Super Bowl, etc on a consistent basis.

Anyone trying to put him in the same sentence as Ray is delusional.

He isn't worth it.

He got juked by TOM BRADY last season.

No thanks.

It's a sad day when you get juked by a guy who ran a slower 40 time at his combine than Vince Wilfork.

When someone told me that a while back, I called shenanigans and went and looked it up. Vince Wilfork: 5.08seconds ... Tom Brady: 5.28 seconds.

Tom Brady only beat Rich Eisen's (who is 43 btw) 40-time by 0.75 seconds and Eisen did it wearing a business suit and tie. :D

I like linebackers that have a set. This guy is soft. Terrible at stopping the run. No thanks, even if he was cheap.

A certain sect of Bear fans will claim that he is a top 5 all time middle linebacker and has been the premier middle linebacker of the last 25 years!

We're trying to build a Superbowl champion, not a retirement home for big-name players, particularly at his position. We don't need a dominant inside linebacker in today's game.

I don't think he's enough of a drama queen for that team. Now if Jay Cutler was somehow magically available...

In all seriousness, I don't see any kind of market at all for Urlacher. Sad to say this, but he's a dinosaur - a run stopping ILB in a league that now wants pass rushers and guys that can cover dynamic receivers and tight ends. Urlacher is going to be 35 years old - it would actually be more of a to me surprise to se him playing next year than to see him retire.

My earlier posts in this thread pointed out all the drama he has had for years but somehow it is shoved under the rug by everyone.

He was possibly the worst run stopping middle linebacker in the NFL last season as well.

Sounds like a Jet to me!

Brian Urlacher is more washed up than Ed Reed and Ray Lewis combined. Plus he's not a scheme fit. I wouldn't offer him a rookie minimum deal at this point, let alone the money he's going to want.

Honestly, we'd be better off signing Dansby than Urlacher. Not saying I'd want Karlos, just saying he'd be a better fit in the scheme of things than Brian. #54 is better off retiring. His body has taken a pounding and he's an injury waiting to happen.

Why would you take Urlacher when you still have Dansby floating around?? That is if you have to pick someone of free agency. I say we may already have replacement ILB's on the roster or we'll draft them with one of our picks!
