Dream Scenario

Dream scenario? Me winning the mega millions and then settling down with Shania Twain. Mmmm.

Oh yeah, and the Ravens win another two SBs in a row.

let's mix up dream and reality for a bit (outside the draft)
1. sign Pitta to a 5 yrs contract
2. restructure Sizzle, Ngata and Leach (no cuts!)
3. get Dumervil
4. get Huff
5. get Harrison too
6. send our original 7th to Raiders for Rolando
7. re-sign McKinnie
then draft well and get plenty of UDFAs

I like most of that. But Ozzie tries to avoid restructuring. I've read a couple times quotes like its mortgaging the future for present patch job. Restructuring basically pushes money into a future date making cap problems inevitable ( current steelers situation ). It's like getting a new place then getting a pay day loan to fill it up with furniture. Short term place looks great 6 months to year all the loans are due but it be afforded at that time is still unknown lol.

I especially like the rolando McClain idea.

But if it's one or two people restructuring it can work if it allows us to sign Pitta and Jones long term as well as get in one or 2 veterans to go with our 12 man rookie class coming in I think it's worth it. McClain would be good if he's released his contract does not help us he's making 8 million a year. We could sign Karlos Dansby who's much better for at least half that. Have that type of vet mentor a young lb or 2 for a couple years until they're ready to successfully start. If McClain is released, and if he can come cheap for at least 3 years I'd do it. If he only wants a year to try the FA market the following year I'd pass and either go strictly with my draft or a Dansby if he's still available.

Defense

Canty, Ngata, Spears ( Jones, McPhee, Cody/ NT/DT from draft, McAdoo) in rotation

Dumervil, McClain, McClain, Suggs (Upshaw, Mcclellan, Hamilton, ILB preferably 2 from draft) in rotation

Webb, Smith, Graham, Huff, SS from draft ( Ihedigbo, Thompson, Brown, Johnson) in rotation

Offense

QB Flacco

RB Rice ( Pierce) in rotation

FB Leach

WR 1 Smith
WR 2 from draft Hopkins, Woods, Allen, Patton, or Rogers will do
WR 3 Jones
WR 4 Doss/Streeter/Thompson/Reed ( whomever wins in training camp)

LT- from draft, trade, or cut player (McKinnie after draft for insurance, Oher's insurance as well)
LG Osemele (Harewood, drafted lineman) as back up
C Gradkowski (veteran FA or drafted player as back up)
RG Yanda (drafted lineman, Harewood as back up)
RT Oher (T from draft as backup)

K Tucker and P Koch

With 12 picks we trade up and down to use just 6-7 picks to pick serious contributors as 12 won't make this team.

favorties who may be around when we pick or where we can target them

1. Brown/Hopkins/Elam/Cyprien
2. Armstead/Patton/Allen/Swearinger/Long
3. Rambo/Rogers/Faulk/Thomas
4. Nico Johnson/ Robbins
5. Klein/TJ Johnson/ Wilcox
6. Dial/Hughes/Holmes/Pough/Williams
7. Cherrington/Okoye/Anderson

is there no such thing as reloading and rebuilding together. Our defence is essentially reloaded (can't wait to still here the argument over how old our defence is hahaha) as we've signed a lot of young / journeyman type players to fill gaps left by old veterans. Our offence hasn't been loaded up much but it doesn't need much just an LT, WR and Centre.

off your list I believe 1. will happen but since McKinnie is getting wooed by SanDiego we may lose him. I still wouldn't mind #5 and we all know Ozzie & Co draft well, I wouldn't go for Harrison until I see what Adrian Hamilton looks like. If he's still raw then we may go after Harrison and put Hamilton on the practice squad for another year.

McKinnie is in San Diego right now working on a contract if he manages to leave there without one I def would like him back. For Harrison if he's still on FA as training camp starts I absolutely pick him up. He's a quality OLB that will play in rotation duty. Can you imagine these combinations coming at you if your the LT, RT, and QB. Suggs, Dumervil/ Suggs/Harrison, Dumervil/Harrison, Upshaw/Harrison, Upshaw/Dumervil, and Upshaw/Suggs. Harrison would make a great 16 snaps a game OLB and he can play the run, cover, and blitz.
