Tough year, all of my fav players left in the same year. The nfl is making it difficult to have favorite players.

Now it's "One ticket to Reliant Stadium". Very sad to see him go. But this frees up $$ for guys like Dumervil, Freeney, etc. Plus we're looking at major bundle of draft picks for LB, D-line & O-line guys. We'll be younger and hungrier on D, with an attitude because nobody believes we'll be any good.

Even Joe Montana and Emmitt Smith didn't finish their careers their original teams. Heck, even Johnny Unitas moved on before calling it quits. It sucks, but it's part of the process. 2013 is a new year with a new team, and I trust this front office to continue on as the most successful in the entire NFL.

It's like I said earlier... We have been blogging this question for the past 3 years... Is he gonna stay, is he gonna hold out, is he gonna retire... ever since Webby got his contract a couple of years ago, Ed has wanted "more"... I love Ed Reed... Reed and Lewis were two names that you just couldn't NOT mention if you were talking about the Ravens.... But like so many other fans... I'm tired.

I say... Put Webby back there with two of our better corners... Graham and Smith... You also have Brendon Ayenbadeju... not to mention a couple of others... I like the idea of going young...

Our Defense got torched last year... couldn't stop the run... and our pass Defense was marginal at best... It's time folks..

As much as I hate to see Ed go I do believe we can improve our secondary .Ed was missing tackles and just wasn't the same player he used to be . We will get a lot younger and a lot faster and that means we'll be very competitive for many years to come . So good luck and good fortune to you Ed and thanks for all the great years. As far as the Ravens are concerned it's time to move on to 2013!

Even though I'm still hurt that he's gone. I still stick by my screen name for BR.com and nfl.com. He is and always will be the best and im pretty sure the fans will still support him as if he was still on a raven. His pitching and trynna always score on defense makes him stand out from the other great safties

After 11 years being a Raven my favorite player is leaving...Hes leaving because a team offered him more money. Hes leaving a city who loves him, and an organization who praised him for what he does on and off the football field.... for a little more money..............I understand now how selfish some NFL players can be.
Next man up!

Goodbye, HOFer Ed! Thanks for all the great memories as a Raven, just wish you would have retired as one. Best of luck in Houston, but not too much. In my heart you will always be a Raven, no matter where you go.

I agree. It's time. I have been tired of Reed's offseason act every year. Takes his time making decisions, constantly asking for more and more, missing time during the year, missing tackles.

This is a breath of fresh air. Good luck, Ed. He was rated the 56th best safety in football last year by ProFootballFocus.com's metric system. Get young, get hungry, and get better.

I knew Reed wouldn't last forever as a raven but it is still sad to see him go. No more "HEEEEAP" and now no more "REEEEEEED"

Just for accuracy, Unitas and Montana were both traded at the end of their career, not like free agency with Reed.

Ed deserved to decide where he wanted to go. If he wanted to boost his interception totals in a weak division then so be it he's a Raven in our hearts.

I will always be a Ravens fan, no matter what. But I said what I meant, and with Ed allowed to walk, I now have zero faith in Ravens team management. And yes, that does indeed mean that I think Ozzie has completely lost it and that the Ravens don't in fact have a "plan" at all. Don't care whether that's the popular opinion or not, it's my opinion, and I'm expressing it.

My goodness, the suspense was killing me. I think I checked this website about 10 or more times per day waiting to find out which way this would end up going. Honestly, I'm glad it turned out this way. Ed Reed is definitely the best to ever play the game at the safety position, as far as I'm concerned. I'm just ready to get some young talent back there and raise up a new All-Pro safety. I like the Honey Badger, but we'll see.
Good hunting in Houston, Ed.

I can't believe that a month and a half after we win the Super Bowl, so many Ravens fans are throwing Ozzie under the bus. It's honestly kind of disgusting.
