[News] Reports: Ed Reed Chooses Texans

what happened to "the 2 sides not budging"? if he really got 6 mil (we don't know yet for sure), either Houston gave in to reed's demands at the last minute or the media didn't get their facts straight and he was offered 6 mil all along.

I had a feeling this was going to happen. Ed really didn't seem like he wanted to stay in Baltimore. Thanks for an amazing 11 years! You will certainly be missed, however, it was certainly not in our favor to vastly overpay for a safety past his prime.

The ravens don't pay for past performances (as great as Ed's has been). I wish Ed the best of luck in Houston, but something tells me the Houston fans will be a little disappointed when they realize they got the "one-step-away-from-retirement" version of Ed. Thanks for the HOF years, Reed! We'll all miss you.

Good decision Mr. Reed. Organizations are not loyal to players; why should players be loyal to organizations. After all -- it's just business.
Your fans will miss you #20. Best Wishes with your new team.

It's pretty sad that after all the praise Reed expressed towards "Baltimore" during the post super bowl rally, that he would even consider ending his Ravens career. Now that it appears that he's off to Houston, it's obvious that money matters more than loyalty. I'm not only disappointed, but very surprised. I really thought being a Raven meant something to Reed more than just about any other player.

You've got to be kidding me. Can we save the lamentations and rending of robes please? All Reed has said is "It's close." This is all based on one tweet that hasn't been substantiated by anyone.

This is why I hate the free agency part of the season. This post is all icing and no cake, and everyone is acting like the voice of God just spoke to them.

I'm not saying Reed is coming back, and I'm not saying that bringing him back is the right choice. I'm just saying that premature posts like this are absolutely silly and a waste of time.

It's still hard to believe #20 won't be back there anymore. He knew bmore loved him and always showed him love I wish players stop chasing the MOST money and play for the love of it. Money dont bring happiness in the long run

Ed, I have loved you and still do. You are my favorite player in the history of sports.

However, I hope Torrey and Jacoby fly past you and burn you on more than a few TDs as we meet the next few years.

WOOP! WOOP!!

Oh well... can't do anything about that. There won't be a Ed Reed retirement party here... until he gets into the ring of honor.

He won't be appreciated in Houston like he is here... Good luck Ed!!!!!! I hope it is the right decision... next man up.

Go Ravens!!!!!!!

I hate to see him go..and not sure why the ravens wont match Houston's offer...Charles Woodson or Quintin Mikell as a replacement would make this hurt a little less.

Anquan Boldin not getting his 49er physical might be the main reason that Ozzie does not have the ready cash to meet Ed Reed's demands. Or maybe Ed is just another RAY-ven that needs to go to put Harbaugh,Pees&Caldwell firmly in charge. Michael Huff can be a star in B-mo. Good Luck Ed you were the best.

People need to stop blaming Reed and talking about how he isn't loyal. He gave his body for the Ravens for 11 years, and the Ravens couldn't give him $4 million a year? We can sign Canty to a 3 year $8 million dollar deal but not a 3 year $12 million for one of the 3 greatest players in Ravens history? That isn't right. He showed as much loyalty as he could by giving the Ravens eveyr chance to just match an offer, but the Ravens wouldn't even match. Its not like he was asking them to match a $10million dollar a year deal. Just a $4 million/year deal

This is heart breaking, but a new era has dawned in Baltimore and im really excited to see it unfold I wasnt as lucky as other fans to be able to watch Ed and Ray dominate the NFL until they were considered on the lower end of there careers. Its time for the torch to pass on and someday maybe not in my life time or any of ours it will land in the hands of the next Baltimore great, and I dont know about you guys but im very excited to see who it is. But in the mean time lets go out there and win some more superbowls! The Ravens will be contenders in January like they always are no matter what anyone says no one knows what this team is made of besides us as fans and our FO and they will do whats best for us Go Ravens!

Dumb move by Houston. Reed has 1-2 more seasons TOPS and is definitely not going to produce the way he is being paid to produce in their defense. I predict him wanting 3 years and somehow them getting stuck with some dead money against the cap.

If we play the Texans next year and he gets boo'd by our fans those people shouldn't even call themselves Ravens fans. Although this is heartbreaking i am glad he left the Ravens as a Super Bowl champ, and i hope he still gets interceptions like a boss down there; except against us. Now that we have the money after this we better get Dumervil, because we need another defensive star after losing so many good ones. #REEDFENCE

Bolden's trade shocked and made me angry but Reed leaving for Houston makes me sad. I know its business but with the millions of dollars these players have and to be fulfilling their dreams on the field you would think loyalty to your team and fans means more. I thought Reed's pride in being a Raven and the legacy he has here meant so much more. Money cannot replace the unique brotherhood of the Ravens lockerroom and loving fans.
