[News] Reports: Ed Reed Chooses Texans

487 posts in this topic

I do understand the loyalty and sadness some fans are feeling over the loss of their favorite player(s) but what woul you have the FO do, pay aged players to remain on the roster and see the NFL powers pass us bye. IMHO I think these same fans would gripe and moan at the first sign of decline in our team wins, I Bleed Purple & Black!!!!!

runamuk - I respect your opinion and encourage healthy debate - and I did not get on here to point to any one poster. I guess what I was trying to say is that there is a difference between saying, "I don't like that move. I think it was a mistake." and "John Harbaugh's a jerk."
most of what your seeing is emotion. Reed is a huge fan favorite .

Treating a "huge fan favorite" like he's a greedy jerk makes no sense...

Thank you for all YOU have done, Ed Reed. However, I have confidence in the Ravens front office and I am sort of tired of the money game Ed has played for years. I wish him the best but believe we will be better

McClains injury was a "Spinal Bruise" He is said to be fine and comming back. We really do not have rookies in our secondary. Webb back this year, J. Smith is in year 3, Graham is a stud-few years in league, chykie Brown in year 2 or 3. We will sign a veteran or two for back up on "D", not to mention 1 or 2 linebackers. We will settle our O-Line. Ozzie is not done yet. It is still early. Remember we didn't sign Leach or Jacoby Jones until just before Training Camp and that turned out really well. This team will not faulter. We are one of (if not THE best) organizations out there. Losing people does suck, but it happens every year. This is the NFL.

both of our safties are gone they have to be replaced by someone IF smith stays healthy.

I agree with you . I have posted multiple times I don't think there was an offer made to reed by the ravens . I think reed left cause there wasn't an option.

This does suck in many different ways but I understand it. Reed wants to get that money to end of a wonderful career for him and his family and honestly you cant blame the guy. Our team as we know is gone. We will have to form a new identity. Its def rough on us fans but we have to support our team now more than ever. Reed will miss you man. You were a gamechanger. You were thee X factor. But we all know that eventualy every good run must come to an end. I just wish it wasnt all so sudden and of this magnitude. But I guess its best to have it all happen at once in the long run. We will come out of this stronger no doubt. Reed I wish you the best but you BETTER retire a Raven. Anything else is unnacceptable.

we will never know the truth I posted elsewhere in the thread the same thing . if there was/is a ravens offer how come not one media outlet has it or knowledge of the details. there's also a trend . an article gets posted about "how the ravens are trying to or are open to sign such and such , and then they r signed elsewhere or they leave etc. Pollard, Reed, Ellerbe.......Mckinnie.

Even Joe Montana and Emmitt Smith didn't finish their careers their original teams. Heck, even Johnny Unitas moved on before calling it quits. It sucks, but it's part of the process. 2013 is a new year with a new team, and I trust this front office to continue on as the most successful in the entire NFL.
Aha !!! :) Amongst the howling multitude of hope and despair; 42 pages worth at this writing, there sits TheSim, Voice of Reason!
Perhaps folks should have promised #20 a statue at M&T Bank next to Mufasa 52's!

Kidding!

I have made peace with the trade of Q and the loss of good Ravens and have become excited to see what the younger Ravens put on the field in 2013 to defend their championship!!!

What's shameless and classless about it? He is not a piece of your property, some indentured servant bound to remain with this organization unitl they decide to get rid of him. Ed Reed performed at a Hall of Fame leve here; he owes no one in Baltimore a thing...

The Ravens stay ahead of the curve by paying players for current and future performance.. not by paying aging HOF players for past glories.. Ed Reed will be missed but it was the right business decision for the team. Ed needed to take the most money he could get at this stage of his career. Unlike Ray he doesn't have a career in TV. The NFL needs the "LARRY BIRD" rule so players with 10 years on a team don't count against the cap. The NFL isn't better this morning because Ed Reed and Brian Urlacher won't be playing their entire careers with their original teams. Good Luck Ed, No Luck Texans!

Boldin needs to quit dragging his feet and take the 9er physical so Ozzie's hands are untied. If Ed Reed goes to Texas how bad will the Ravens be hurt. We had the 16th ranked defense with Ray Lewis&Ed Reed playing. Our defense got better with a less than heaLTHY Suggs back and Ray sidelined. The playoff run was amazing but our defense scared, scares no one. Michael Huff would be better than the 34 yr old Ed Reed that is going to leave. I'll miss Pollard's ferocity but Ozzie isn't a fool, someone is in the plans. Upshaw is a run satopper who might be as good as Kruger on 3RD down was with Suggs healthy and drawing the offensive line his way. Dumervil?? Too much money. Michael McAdoo two years in the making. Sergio Kindle back?? Only Ozzie knows. Suggs,Ngata on the trading block?? The RAY-vens are over GO RAVENS!!!
That's been done. He took it yesterday, I believe it was. :)

Ed reed gave the Ravens everything he has. I remember on more than once team mate having to carry him after the game because he left it all out on the field. @ 34 he has to make all of the money he can because their are no more big contracts after this one. I am truly thankful for all he has done for the Ravens and the City. I look forward to him signing his one day contract and retiring as a Raven. Thanks for the memories Ed. Best ball hawk ever.

Nine players from the Super Bowl team gone; about 4 more to go and the purge will be over. One more shocker to come but the worst is over. The worst being our favorite players, not necessarily our best players.

Glad we don't have to listen to Reed cry and whine next preseason. He's Houstons problem now. He won't have much of an impact there anyway, because he'll be hurt and sitting on the sidelines most of the season. Good, no great, move by the FO getting rid of the dead weight, clubhouse disrupters and whiners.

It will be very hard seeing Ed in another uniform. I wish him well. He has my vote as G.O.A.T. at the safety position and I appreciate all the great plays he made for us throughout the years.

It's only fair he goes to the Texans. We picked up players that they didn't think were worth having and turned them into pro bowlers. Now is their chance to take a pro bowler and see if they can turn him into a player not worth having.

Everyone loves #20 and will continue to live him no matter whose jersey he is now wearing. RAVENS NATION has always loved and respected him with all our might. He won't receive the same level if live & respect in Texas. I don't know why he chose Texas over BALTIMORE or if BALTIMORE even made him an offer. What IS do know is RAVENS NATION is extremely sad to say good-bye but say it we must. The best thing for us to do us to continue to love & respect him and let him know he will always be a RAVEN to us. So on behalf if RAVENS NATION, #20, good luck in Texas, we wish you well and may you always PLAY LIKE A RAVEN

The South Carolina chapter of the Ravens Nation weeps today. My 4 favorite Ravens from this team is gone. Lewis, Reed, Boldin and Pollard. I know we have to make some changes and these changes hurt me a lot. I loved these players passion, dedication and desire to win. Reed was the unsung leader and field general. I want to know who will step up and watch the film and direct our Defense like Ed and Ray did the last decade . I hope Ozzie will not leave us for the Alabama AD job. We need his guidance to rebuild our New Look Defense. I hope we will not become a team like NE who wins with Offense and just enough D. I love the style of play we have had in Baltimore that made us know as the Baltimore Bullies. Hardnose, hard hitting D that makes teams question their sanity for stepping on the field with us. We have a great core on D to build around and I wish we had Ed for his guidance, teaching the new younger D how to play like a Raven. Good Luck Ed I will pull for you except when we play.

Geez....can you guys do anymore "Ed Reed Reflection" stories? I am sorry to see him go, but he wanted to much money for a 34 year old player... Yes....let's all thank Ed for his great run with the Ravens. Now...move on and let's get some younger blood in here and THEY will be our NEW hometown heroes!

Its ok. Its not like he is going to get 9+ picks or be very productive. My guess is he is going to try to tackle someone and go down with an injury, collect his money and retire, then go to the HOF as a Raven and the greatest safety to play the game. The texans aint squat and they arent going anywhere with shaub.
I know but it's just the fact of seeing him in another jersey that makes me angry. Plus his bust in Canton will say Texans underneath Baltimore and it's quite saddening he couldn't just go out on top with Ray.

For 11 years, he had everything a player could possibly ask for from both the organization and the fans. He ends his time in Baltimore with a dumb performance in Hollywood and an underhanded betrayal in Texas - see you around loser.
