Ravens predictions for next season

A little tough to say when we don't know who our starting LT, FS, SS, MLB#1 and MLB#2 will be. I would say at the worst .500 at best sky is the limit.

lol 8-8 really?

shoot, I always predict we'll go undefeated until we have that first loss. Of course, lately that's been in Week 2 soooo ...lol

19-0. Don't ask me again until we hit that first loss. :)

I say we go 11-5. Webb comes back, Suggs and Ngata will be 100%. BP will grow, Torrey Smith will get better, and I think we will have a great draft.

looks like 9-7 season with us being @ wildcard spot.

if we can few more winnable games : lions/steelers/bears we can get around 10-11wins

An L in Detroit? Ouch. I guess it depends on when we go there and whether or not they have already given up for the season again. I'm not counting that one as a loss right now.

LOL nah, we have had big holes before. We are not done in free agency and the draft is not here yet. I'm not worried, as there are options out there for us at all of those positions. We just need to figure out what we are going to fill in FA and what comes to us in the draft.

11-5.

Joe is a winner and now he has Jim Caldwell. I think the D will actually be better. As odd as it sounds the Super Bowl champs will sneak up on people next year. To many people are buying into all these starters leaving. Aside from Anquan, everyone is replaceable. No one can replace Ray's leadership, but whoever is there will be faster.

It is too early for predictions as the roster is not complete as of yet. However, knowing Ozzie and the way he puts his teams together, my gut tells me worst case 9-7 and best case 12-4. Either option gets us into the final 12, where we can come into our own all over again and have yet another magical post season run by Flacco and repeat as SB XVIII Champs!!!!!!!!

As wierd as this sounds, i like the direction we are headed. At first i was not happy about Q but the more time goes by i can live with it, we are going to spotlight torrey which i love and i think he has a good year with cam being gone. I also think rice is going to have a massive year and used a lot better than in the past. One thing ive said many times and now it makes more sense than ever, id love to pierce in the backfield and put rice in the slot, i think he would do heavy damage like that, ive been saying this for sometime. But there will be some learning curves going on on both sides of the ball which is understandable, we have lost a lot of players, i see us between 8-8 and 10-6 realistically. Our division has gotten a lot better and i really do think the browns have a good future with that beast of a rb they have. This is still early, but thats my prediction

Here is the thing, people thought we were in rebuild mode when we got rid of Mason and Kelly Greg and so on and so on. To be frankly honest, the analyst dont know crap, they had us losing to NE and Den by 9 in the playoffs so I have no faith in their ability to predict what were gonna be next year. What I think will happen is that the Brown will be a much better team than last year and Cinci will stick at the same level of talent and the Steelers will be the team in rebuild mode, having to fight with the two Ohio teams just make a wildcard spot in 2013. The ravens will have the best chance out of all of these teams to make it back to the AFC North championship and the playoffs, here is my reasoning:

Pit is just getting older and the talent they have dont match the talent that they are losing due to age and FA.

Cinci will be at a stand still with talent and will be just like the steelers and browns, fighting for a wildcard spot

Browns will play spoiler for a couple of teams this year due to their improved status but will still not be good enough to make it to the dance due to the many holes they have at this time. Hayden and their RB position is the only sure thing they have right now.

Looking at our schedule, we are facing a lot of teams that are either in rebuilding mode or have lost some main players on their team. I can see us going no lower than 11-5 this year due to the fact we will have the talent and offensive direction to steam roll our division rivials and other conference talent as well.

On defense people are only looking at the pieces that we lost. Ellerbe, Ray, Pollard ect..

Here's what we still have so far...
Ngata, Upshaw, Sizzle, Webb, Jimmy, Graham, Hopefully Ed, Canty and Spears.. That is still 9 formidable players on this defense, question mark being at MLB. I think Ozzie fills the need in the draft and also finds a second tier FA somewhere on the cheap to be a one year stop gap while we rebuild at that position.

I think the offense is going to have a huge year despite losing Boldin. Pitta IMO will fill the slot role perfectly, then hopefully we can get some production out of Doss in the slot as well. Still though, I think the Ravens offense will be enough to offset any lost ground on D...which I predict that the Defense will actually rank higher this season than last.

As far as Wins and Losses go

We have: Buffalo- A sure W unless we get them in Week 2 lol
Cincy- I think we split, but possibly sweep them (Joe has figured their D out..finally)
Cleveland- Sweep..every year people talk about how much better they are and they prove us wrong..I'll believe it when I see it.
Steelers- Sweep...unless Charlie Batch starts against us lmao
Jets- W
Pats- They aren't beating us here in the opening game of the season..not happening.
Miami- I thi nk they could be a lot better this year, It could be close but I still think we could beat them.
Green Bay- L
Chicago-W
Detroit- W
Minny- W
Houston-W
Denver-L

So there you go. I have us somewhere between 11-5 to 13-3..which I feel will be a completely successful season. I think 11 wins takes the division and a 1st round bye this year.

The MLB positions are the only ones that I am worried about. We will come out on top of our division and who ever knows what the playoffs will bring.

I'm excited for this season. While obviously the Ravens still have expectations to be contenders we don't have that feeling of we need to win it all right now or else Ravens World will come to end because we need to get Ray and Ed rings. It's refreshing not to have that weighing on you. I'll say 10-6.

I think we'll have a great year, yes. However, don't count out the Pittsburgh Steelers. They had a bad year last year due to injuries: sure, they have a lot of dead money on that roster and two of their best defensive players are gone...

but Ben Roethlisberger can make plays happen. I wouldn't count the Steelers out. They're the Steelers.

Plus, I'd hate to fight for divisional supremacy with the Ohioans.

I think we'll finish 2nd in the division. I thought that before all the changes. I think the Bengals will have a pretty good year.

This is going to seem very optimistic, but I have us at 13-3, losses being one Pittsburgh game, Denver, and Green Bay.

Ok I have read and listened to alot of stuff about the upcoming season and wanted to hear thoughts. I know the Ravens have lost a lot of players via free agency and we lost Ray Lewis to retirement. Now since that has happened most folks including the media are predicting an 8-8 season and not making the playoffs because we lost "all of our leadership and big name players". I think the Ravens can prove everyone wrong once again but it does get a bit discouraging. It's not like we lost anybody big name other than Ray and Anquan. Kruger and Ellerbe probably won't live up to the expectations everyone thinks they will. But I gotta admit I still worry about how the team will play in September.
[/quote]

I think many in the media overvalue how good our defense was, or wasn't last year because 1) They are used to the Ravens being good on defense 2) The Ravens had big name defensive stars on the team 3) Its the off-season and they needs something to write about.

The offense is intact for the most part and will likely improve with the implementation of Jim Caldwell's offense. The Ravens won the Superbowl with Caldwell using Cam's playbook and will now have the chance to actually implement Jim's offense. The defense will be younger and faster next season and they'll hopefully have a fully recovered Suggs as well as a healthy Ngata. Also, it will be the second year with Dean Pees, so the familiarity with the system should improve.

As far as the division goes: The Browns are...well the Browns and won't be a threat for the division title even though they'll be loaded up with overpaid FA's. The Steelers are even more up against the cap then the Ravens and are in transition on defense just as much if not more than Bmore. The Bengals have proven to be playoff contenders, but are still missing the explosiveness on offense that they would need to overtake the division.

I think the Ravens will go 11-5 and actually finish one win better than last year. Now that Cam is gone, I don't see the Ravens offense showing up completely flat to games.

Anywhere from 7-9 to 10-6. It really just depends on how the defense comes together. As it looks now, the DL is set, probably deeper and more talented than last year. The LB corps is completely gutted so who knows how that will turn out. Secondary is iffy. No Reed/Pollard/Williams but Webb comes back and I liked the way Graham plays the game. If they decide to add a guy like Huff I think they will fare ok.

Only time will tell..

Even though the LB depth has been gutted, the starters from last year will be the same except for one ILB. Suggs, McClain, ? and Upshaw should all be returning. I think the Ravens will likely pick up some veterans to fill in gaps on defense so that the FO won't be forced to draft for need.

Look for ILB Karlos Dansby, as well as Huff who you mentioned.
