Ravens predictions for next season

115 posts in this topic

Ok I have read and listened to alot of stuff about the upcoming season and wanted to hear thoughts. I know the Ravens have lost a lot of players via free agency and we lost Ray Lewis to retirement. Now since that has happened most folks including the media are predicting an 8-8 season and not making the playoffs because we lost "all of our leadership and big name players". I think the Ravens can prove everyone wrong once again but it does get a bit discouraging. It's not like we lost anybody big name other than Ray and Anquan. Kruger and Ellerbe probably won't live up to the expectations everyone thinks they will. But I gotta admit I still worry about how the team will play in September.

We make the playoffs again on the virtue of an explosive offense run by a competent offensive coordinator along with a weak conference. I have no idea what to expect out of our defense or who replaces Q or what our tackles will look like.

I wouldn't look past any of those teams. The Browns were a TD pass of beating us back last season at home. With the unknown state that the team is in I wouldn't count any wins yet.

Yes I know that. I also know that we still have Ed Reed's future in the air, we still have to address the needs on defense, and we need to find a leader for our young wide recievers.. Free agency isnt over yet and we still have to make sure we keep our RFA's, Pitta being one of them. So yes it sounds harsh but we are in a small state of unknown. We will be a new team when the season starts. Not trying to be negative just realisitic.

I think 9-7 is the floor we have for as long as Flacco, Rice & co. are here and healthy. Given the uncertain nature of the health status of every player in the NFL, a prediction now is very premature. However, I see no reason why we wouldn't make the playoffs this year.

12-4 but more likely 10-6 we win our division make the playoffs and at least make the afc champ game. Media is over reacting cuz we won the SB but our FO is treating this off season like any other off season and taking the emotion out of it.

It's entirely too early to tell. We don't know if we're keeping Pitta, who our number 1 receiver is, who our starting safety's will be, or who our ILB's will be.

We don't know what the steelers are doing this off-season, the draft isn't even here yet.

I think once OTA's start up then we'll have a better guess.

Thank you, and yeah its waaaay to early to call this one with anything other than gut instincts.

I say 11-5, to draw a number out of the proverbial hat. But we are still a good ways from the draft, training camp, the pre-season, and then its still only a shot in the dark to make a prediction. Any of these games are fought inch by inch and yard by yard which is what makes it so compelling to watch.

Oh sure its also easy to detach from these games next season emotionally, because its still so far away! But when they are scratching, and clawing tooth and nail for every inch of every yard THEN you'll be cringing, ooing, aahing, cheering, and screaming just as usual no matter if its win, lose or draw. I'll still bleed purple and black every day of the week no matter what!

Lastly, I'm upbeat about whats going on, and Ozzie always has a master big picture plan in the works. The D-line is coming along nicely, we are getting into a position to simply take the best player available in any round of the draft, and don't be shocked if we scoop up a surprise free agent right before camp. I think turning over some of the roster will keep an edge to a Ravens team that could otherwise have fallen victim to complacency. Instead we are still (in Harbaugh, and Ozzie's words) following a code of meritocracy, and the doctrine of right player at the right price.

I think we'll have a top 10 offense next season and Pitta will catch more than 80 balls. I'll feel more comfortable making predictions when the roster really starts taking shape.

Anywhere between 8-8 and 14-2.

Ask me again after the draft, and again in training camp.
true. this question can best be answered during/after training camp

16-0 why not

I like the way you think. I said in an earlier thread we will repeat and win the superbowl again next year and I firmly believe we will. regardless of which opponent we face in any game .

It'll be a season of ups and downs. People will be praising our young D when they make big plays in a game, and lambasting them when they make a mistake. Flacco will be lauded when he goes for 350 and 3 TDs and there will be torches and pitchforks out when he has a rough game. It will be fun to watch, that's for sure.

11-5, we win the division. Once in the playoffs anyone can win.

At the very least, we make the playoffs based off a weak conference and even weaker division. Anything can happen come playoff time though.

You want a record, I'd say between 10-6 and 12-4.

10-6. We have the SB curse and lose in round 2.

Get higher draft pick to win SB next year

As of now I think we are in the playoff hunt. The o looks good and the d has some holes to fill but its not like the cupboard is bare. Ngata, Suggs and Webb lead the d and Flacco, Rice and Yanda lead the o. All our positions on d except one S spot can be filled by a player who started at least one game and played okay last year. I don't expect Bynes to blow up or anything but we aren't decimated. The two new DEs remind me of the quality Cory Redding signing and we look to pick up at least one more experienced pass rusher at a discount.

I see holes at safety and LT but otherwise I don't see what all the fuss is about. It's a crapshoot every year and we have the guys to make a run. We don't look dominant but last year people said Ray and Ed were over the hill hurting us, Ellerbe was a non-factor, Boldin was overrated and all the rest so for me its business as usual. Our team has the core it needs to move forward and Oz will fill the gaps.
