I am surprised that the Ravens have enough money to even consider another free agent after landing Dumervil. I don't mind getting Huff for the short haul, but we really need to address ILB, OT, and S in the first 3 rounds of the draft.

According to spotrac dumerville will have a cap hit of 2.5 this year

Dumervil's cap hit was only $2.5 mil, we have like $5mil left. Throw 1mil at Huff and you're fine.

Plus, because of the rule of 51 if we really want to bring a guy in we can and then we have plenty of time to figure out how to work things through to get the last 2 guys under the cap.

considering our 4 comp picks and having 11 picks this draft, what I'd rather see is Lane Johnson free-fall and we use a few of our 4 extra picks to trade up and get:

Johnson - Osemele - Gradkowski - Yanda - Oher

Now that would be an offensive line for the future. Hopefully we can sign Huff when he comes here. He's really fantastic in pass coverage and would do well to soften the blow of losing Ed Reed. Huff isn't as great as a run-stopper, though, but few are. We can get a nice thumper like Matt Elam in the draft too, hopefully.

A Lane Johnson and Matt Elam draft would make me about take a victory lap around my neighborhood in April.

I would love to take Lane Johnson. But so many teams are going to look for OT.

Chiefs,Cardinals,Eagles, Saints..

I'd wait until the bottom of the 2nd round and take a guy like Kyle Long, Brennan Williams, Reid Fragel, Terron Armstead, Menelik Watson, or Chris Faulk.

I don't think that'd be a good move. You have Omar Brown - who Ed Reed gave a nice plug, and Christian Thompson (even though I believe he is going to be playing strong). Why not let them give it a go?

Ed Reed started his rookie year and was challenged by QBs because they had no knowledge of his ball skills. I say that in response to those who will use the word proven. Unproven to the NFL can be a huge benefit if the guy is actually proven on the practice field. We want teams to challenge our players. That's how Ed Reed made himself a Hall of Famer because even after he won DPOY 3 years into the league, opposing teams didn't know how good he was. Everyone has film on Michael Huff. Nobody has film on our drafted guys except us. If you don't resign Ed Reed - GOAT and HOFer, it should be because you want to give a younger guy a shot and not because you want to pay less money to another veteran free. Obviously not always going to have an heir apparent right away, but find out if your younger guys can play.

Besides, if our pass rush is effective, YOU could very well probably go back there and play free. Don't forget that Webb will be back too.

Weird, that we'll signing up older veterans, but we might need their presence and leadership since we're going to invest in 12 draft picks. Young teams like the Titans and Browns have struggled to finish games due to inexperience.
OK. That makes sense. I can run with that. But how many new people do you sign and still expect a seamless integration?

Honestly I only think 3 of those may be able to ply LT. But I don't think they'll be there. Here's to hoping.

Worse comes to worse we have a top 20 pick for one year as we rebuild.

he's the best stop gap for a couple of years... just until the youngsters mature... the pricetag he's carrying makes him the perfect fit for us and we were high on him during his draft year

I love that way of thinking, bringing in Dumervil makes sense if we're trying to get younger, but bringing in Huff cant happen bc the FO has stated we're getting younger.

Well when other than Ihedbigbo, your only other options at safety have a combined 0 starts, and pretty close to that number in total NFL snaps, your a little too young at that position and could use a verteran for 2-3 years to make the transition to youth.

I wont lie I thought bout Huff as soon as I heard the Raiders released him cuz it wont count against the comp picks next year. But when I heard the Ihedigbo signin I was like "we cant carry 5 S (we will draft a S)." I wont be surprised if we sign him cheap but it just seems like the roster goin to b over the limit especially with 12 draft picks

We carried 5 safeties last year. If there's anywhere that you want to have too many guys, it's in the secondary. I also think we'll be moving around quite a bit in the mid rounds of the draft. I think at the end of the draft, we'll only draft 9-10 guys.

Huff seems like a done deal to me, just a gut feeling. But it is such a Ozzie move, he was a good player on a bad team, sign for cheap as a stop gap, and help our rookies this year. A win win. He might not bring those game changing ints to the team but I view him as an upgrade from last year

Technically Omar Brown didn't start the year on the active roster, he was on the prac squad but was activated because so many players went to IR. I agree we will move up in draft and will only have 9 picks but as the projected roster is now its probably 46ish-50 (depending on who u think is a spot)

We don't know how well Thompson and Brown are developing, thus we need to draft another safety to fortify our depths.

If Huff wants to win, then he's making the right choice to join with the Ravens. everyone thinks he's bad due to the horrible defense of the Raiders. However, everyone should also know that Pollard was coming from a bad defense as well, but raised his playing level here. Pollard is a in-the-box safety whose aggressive hard hits made up for his lack of coverage skills. However, with the league cracking down on hard hits, Pollard could be more detrimental than beneficial for our struggling defense. Huff's skills as a FS/CB hybrid could help our secondary since we lost our starting safeties and CBs. Webb is coming from an ACL, thus it leaves us with a healthy Jimmy Smith, Corey Graham, Chykie Brown, Asa Jackson, Chris Johnson. Huff's ability as a hybrid could gives us flexibility to put the best players out on the field.

Last year we had Reed, Pollard, Considine, Ihedigbo, and Thompson. It's not out of the realm to hold 5 safeties, especially with all of the question marks there this year.

really like the fact he is a cb and safety.... if webb isnt 100% and jimmy hasnt matured his play then we have a good cb to step in with corey graham

This right here...is a solid point. Never know with injuries too. We seem to lose a CB or two every year due to injuries. Let's hope everyone can stay healthy for once.

Cowboys just signed former Steeler Will Allen for their FS spot per Rotoworld. This takes them out of the running for Huff. Yessss!

Wow. That was fast lol

I like this move. I do want to see what Omar Brown can do, but we will need some veteran presence there.

Lol, 3-year? I figured as much when his interview was short with the 'Boys. This is a brilliant move. To quote McDonald's: "I'm lovin' it".

Surprised it's 3 years. I expected 2, but hey, I'll take him! Another great move, no effect on comp picks.
