Huff is the next sign Ozzie makes
And again it would cost us a comp pick. Elvis, Canty, Spears, Huff are all players cut. Now that's patience and mastery. It's what makes Ozzie great

Is anyone else linked with Huff right now?
I think just us.

The Cowboys have expressed interest, but they also only have $100K in cap room. I'm going to venture a guess and say they're out.

What kind of deal gets Huff done? I think he could be 2013's Jacoby Jones
Not sure, but he just signed a 4-year 32 million dollar deal with the Raiders in 2011, and I think half was guaranteed. So he's already made a good deal of money - maybe we get lucky and he takes less to play for a contender?

The same article I saw said Green Bay, Dallas, and Tennessee have "interest", but nothing about any visits.

Yeah. Just looked it up. Dallas is out based on salary cap. Tennessee is out based on the fact that they just signed Pollard. Green Bay may be the only team left besides us.

If Dallas extends Romo, they could reduce his cap hit for this year (if they do it that way) and free up some room.

Hey, it's possible. Lol.

Same for Green Bay, who have their hands full talking with Discount Double-Check.

lol wouldn't include a whole lot of guaranteed money in any Romo extension

As for GB. Don't think they'll be finding any discount in that deal. No matter how many times they Double-Check it lol

Forgot about that - apparently not only do they want it done before the start of the season, but if they really are looking to pay him close to 25 million a year, I mean we pulled some magic off with Joe's contract, but IDK if they could do the same.

I banking on this one. we're the only team to offer a visit, we just signed Doom, and we can get him at the right price

I think he may end up with a 2 year, $5M deal. Definitely not out of the realm for us to do.

His big upcoming extension is one of the reasons they haven't been signing FAs this offseason. Hopefully that continues. It's not just him, either. They are trying to extend and give big paydays to Clay Matthews and BJ Raji, as well. Basically, anyone who has been in a State Farm commercial.

he's got a visit with the cowgirls today, still planned to come to bmore later in the week http://profootballtalk.nbcsports.com/2013/03/25/cowboys-window-shopping-extends-to-michael-huff/

Huff would add depth but we do have a chance to pick up a decent safety and corner back in the draft, too.

Yea but if you read this article, it says they can't do anything because of their cap space. Unless they get to restructuring some deals.

I think regardless of what you do in the draft itd be nice to sign quality veterans at value prices so you dont have to worry about drafting need, you can comfortably go BPA. Not that we would ever reach for need anyways, but even drafting a safety leaves us with Ihedigbo as the only player in our safety rotation with an NFL start.

Oh yea he is coming here, and I think we have a shot at him if he is for the right price. Were starting to get kind of tight on cap space, and I really want to see us lock up Jones and Pitta, but Huff would be an awesome addition to our backfield.

I didn't see it posted here, so I figured I would post this:
[background=transparent]Free agent DB Michael Huff is still scheduled to visit the Ravens.[/background]
Huff is meeting with the Cowboys on Monday, but is expected to escape without a contract because of their salary-cap situation. He'll visit Baltimore "later this week." Huff would be part of the Ravens' Ed Reed replacement plan.
Pretty nice news to hear. Personally, I would be happy if this is all we do in the offseason in terms of FA signings. Huff, Dumervil, Canty & Spears. The rest of our money I would prefer we dedicate to Arthur Jones, Dennis Pitta & even Michael Oher.

I'd like to add a backup C as well. Right now, we have nothing behind Gino. I think we need some sort of vet presence there.

Honestly don't care if he signs w/ us or not.

Rather look into draft class for SS (Matt Elam) and just give a chance to christian thompson to see what he got to decide to dump or keep him.

I don't look at links when I'm on my phone, which is primarily how I browse this site. I'd recommend you post links but include a highlight in your post. Not the whole article, as that's against rules.

Yeah, I agree. That's definitely up there. I forgot about that but we do need a vet C/G prospect. I think one will get cut after the draft, personally.

So you're comfortable with your entire safety rotation having the same exact number of career NFL starts as James Ihedigbo? (which is 15 btw)

The guy can start now, and if the young guys like Christian Thompson, Omar Brown or someone we draft are good enough theyll start over him and Huff can provide cheap veteran experience in rotation at both safety and corner if needed.

Huff is a quality starter with versatility and will be cheap. Has Ozzie written all over him.

Meh...I'd rather start w/ the players that we got, b/c Huff isn't really a major upgrade to what we alrdy have. To me, Id rather have us spend what we have left on B.Mac @ cheap price.

Eventually you have to see what we got on Thompson/Omar instead of them sitting on the bench while an aging safety does a 'so-so' job on that starting line-up. Also, I want to see Thompson start b/c he was a pretty high pick(4th rounder).

As we know, Huff visited the Cowboys with Durant and Allen. Reports out of Dallas are that Huff was there for about an hour and left. Durant and Allen are both still there and are taking physicals.

Dallas only has $103,000 on their cap and can't sign anyone. They probably wanted to hear Huff's contract demands and go over what they'll need from him in their defensive scheme. For it to only be an hour lets me believe they both think it won't be a great fit for them at this time. He'll be here pretty soon and I guarrantee that meeting will go longer than an hour.

I know they can't sign anyone. I just thought it was more telling that he left while the other 2 on visits stayed and took preliminary physicals.
