This might have already been mentioned but just thought I'd ask since I haven't come across anything. Heard Zibby got released. Any chance of a reunion? I'd guess with other big name safeties like Michael Huff and of course our very own Ed Reed still on the market, Zibby could be had for pretty cheap and could actually be a solid contributor (even if it's just depth purposes). Knows the system well.. Just a thought.

I would like to take a flier on him. However, I feel we have some good young safeties waiting in the wings and resigning Zibby is limiting the chance they get.

theres a reason we let him go in the first place. even when he was on the team, pollard was the starter. he couldnt even crack the starting lineup.

Yeah, no thanks. I wouldn't really want him back, even if it was for depth only. If Pagano cut ties after 1 year, that's all I need to know.

Zibby
Landry
Leonard

His problem is he dropped weight, lost strength and switched positions. He should have been a SS from day one and stayed at around 210-215, instead he's all the way down to 200 I believe. I actually thought he was a great 3rd round pick in 2008 but the team just used him the wrong way. He tackles as if he's never lifted a weight now.

We did take a flier on him...when we drafted him and started him at FS with Ed hurt. But he's terrible.

I'll pass on Zibby.

I really think he should get into boxing. He did not want the Ravens and booked out of here so why should we want him back? No way.

He said he could whip anyone on our team when he was here before. He just couldn't whip anyone on any other team.

I would say yes if we hadn't already resigned Ihedigbo but at the moment I don't think there is a need there this early in the offseason. If we miss on bringing Ed back I would still be for it, because he has plenty of game-time experience to serve as a safety net (no pun intended) at the position, yet isn't "great enough" of a player to prevent young guys like Thompson or Brown from cracking the lineup if they are truly outplaying him in practice. You guys act like he was absolute trash, but he was a ballhawk when he replaced Ed for four games in '09, had two INTs and a 3rd vs the Steelers called back due to a penalty (if I remember right, it was some kind of penalty on Frank Walker *facepalm*). He didn't fill up the stat sheet the same way at the beginning of '10 but he was still solid in those six starts until Ed came off of the PUP. I didn't watch him in Indy last year, so all of my opinions are based solely on his time here...

I agree. If he recommitted himself to football and gained weight back to 215 or so then I think he could be a nice rotational safety and special teams demon. I just don't think he will be back with us, though.

Sure let's give him the meager $1 mil in cap room we saved when we cut Pollard to absolutely downgrade at the position. Zibby was a decent special teams contributor when he was here, nothing more. He lasted the grand duration of 1 year with the Colts who didn't exactly have a star studded defense to push him out. There's only one way I can accept Pollard's departure, and that is if we can sign a safety that is a) as good as he is. and b. not much more than 1 million against the cap. That would be an absolute coup by the way. But since the deed is done, I'd rather just turn to Thompson/Digz/Omar/Draft for safety help.

Nope... Slow, small and not a playmaker. The same as when he was here the first time.

i like Ihedigbo! he is a hard-hitting safety along the lines of Pollard.

Wouldn't mind it, actually. He's no super star, but he's a solid player. He'd be a decent stop gap and good veteran presence. I don't want to sign him now, but if Reed leaves and our young guys turn out to be bums, I would fully advocate signing Zibby in camp.

There was a reason we let him walk. He got beat out by Pollard the last time he was on our roster in his contract year.

No thanks.

Possible. Safety is probably our biggest issue right now. I believe we have zero free safeties. Ihedigbo was a solid contributor behind Pollard, but I don't know how he'd do as a starter.
Instead of releasing Pollard, couldn't we have just tried restructuring his deal like we did Boldin?
