Yea that sounds good to me. I just don't want the O's to have to play a double header and risk having their bullpen spent...Edit- this is a reply to whoever said they could play the game at 12:30 or 1.

Thank you! Plus I don't want teagarden catching over wieters during a DH

Remember this is not just the Ravens home opener. This is the opening game for the entire NFL league. The rights to host it were won by Baltimore and should not be given away to another city, like San Fran! There will be special concerts, events, halftime singers. No Pass-Punt-Kick for this halftime! Bring on the Balck-Eyed-Peas or Faith Hill in person!!!

Ugh. This is really unbelievable, although it's not just on the Orioles, and I hope fans won't see it as such. Two teams have to agree along with Selig and the MLBPA.

[sup]I can't stand it. Win the Superbowl and have the Season open in Pittsburgh or New England or Denver. What a disgrace. [/sup]

Think of this as an O's Rain out. Purple Reign.
How many baseball games are rescheuled due to rain a year? 10-15 per team i bet!
Rescheduling baseball games is done all year long and is no big deal.
This is about MLB trying to pry bucks from the NFL.
The NFL really should have the game on Wednesday in Baltimore. There is Seperation of Church and Football.
I believe most all NFL games are on the Christian holy day of SUNDAY are they not?
That's because this country does not honor the things of God in any way shape or form but I digress.

They play on Thanksgiving Day and Christmas. Those are not holidays? Or holy days, if you prefer.
Thanksgiving is not a Holy day and America celebrates X-mas and not CHRISTmas, but again I digress.

We're on the road and that's that.

Maybe we could just open against the Os. Just flip a coin to determine which sport. I'd pay to see that.

Rosh Hashanah aside, the very easy solution is to move the game to Wednesday. I do not want the Orioles to be put at a competitive disadvantage in the middle of a playoff race.
Yea agree why can't they schedule the game wednesday night

So apparently Goodell has called Selig TWICE about the possibility of a double header where the O's play in the afternoon and the Ravens play on Thursday Night. Come on Bud, just move the game!

Though if we move our game to 9PM, wouldn't that mean to accommodate the traffic, the Orioles would still have to move their game to an earlier start time? I mean it would have to be moved to 3:00PM just so that it is over by 6 and you have 3 hours to help clear traffic for the Ravens game.

I don't have a problem with opening our game with the Orioles playing. Traffic will be bad, and I know the Orioles will lose a ton of money but I say let the Orioles keep their day, and just have the Ravens open their game on the day they were going to open their game.

I understand people like baseball. If we didn't win the Super Bowl, nobody would care. We did win the Super Bowl. If Goodell thinks it's either open in Baltimore on that day or go on the road, then you better believe I would just take that Thursday. Fans will speak for who they want more, and I believe the decision will be very definitive.

I bet EVERY SINGLE season ticket holder would be glad to pre-purchase a $10 ticket to an Orioles game that Friday/Saturday/Sunday... to convince the Orioles to move their Thursday game.

Think about it... that's roughly 70,000 x $10... (which equals $700,000).

Now, obviously Camden yards can't hold 70,000. But I'd say that's more money than they could expect to make from that one Thursday night game against the freakin Chicago White Sox.

And hey, the Ravens have already stated they are willing to send money the Orioles way.

But I think the fans willingness to pony up over $700,000 collectively would speak volumes. Not saying the fans SHOULD... but I bet they would be willing to. You don't win the Super Bowl often, and when you do... you should get all the things that come with it. One of those things is getting to start your title defense in your own stadium, in front of your fans.

The NFL already stole the Ravens BYE week when the Texans stadium got torn up. Did they make the Texans play in Baltimore? No. They just cancelled the Ravens BYE week!

It's not the traffic, it's the parking. Both teams have pre-paid parkers in the same lots.
Yep. One of the games need to move.

The annoying thing is since there is a group that has some traditions that prevents them from watching football on that day, the NFL is forcing all of us to honor those traditions with no football. How is that fair? This is not the fault of the folks of that faith, it is the NFL. If it were the Patriots or the Steelers that had won last year, a big market team, I wonder if it would even be a question.

Oh please. Let's just be clear here....in baseball, if that game is rained out..what will they do if it has playoff implications? Oh they will make the Sat/Sun game a double header. It really is quite that simple.

On the other hand, okay fine, they don't get approval. Then we play it on Wednesday. Sorry it's a holiday for the Jewish population but I celebrate Christmas & Thanksgiving and we play games on those days. Just an FYI , while they moved the schedule to accomodate Christmas in 2011, in the past that was not done.

In reading the article posted on our site, it sounds like the Ravens concur about not playing on Wednesday. If they can't work out something with the Os, the games going to be away. What I want to know, if this does happen, are they going to take a home game away without moving an away game here later in the season? Now that would suck on top of sucking.

From the Sun article:

"The league looked into moving the game to Wednesday, Sept. 4 – the Orioles play in Cleveland that night - but they ultimately decided against it because that’s the first day of Rosh Hashanah. "

"Goodell also ruled out playing the game on the first day of Rosh Hashanah although games have been played on that day in the past. "

Says nothing about the Ravens being the ones deciding not to move it to Wednesday. I don't think they were even given the option. The league and Goodell said no.

From the article posted on baltimoreravens.com an hour ago...

"Goodell and Ravens Team President Dick Cass said moving the Ravens game to Wednesday is not up for consideration because that's the first day of the Jewish holiday Rosh Hashanah."

Given that games have been played on this holiday in the past, it seems this is the desire of the Ravens organization.
