The guys we signed were cut from their previous teams. Only UFAs count against you, so they will not. Neither will players like Huff, Elvis, Harrison, Dansby, Lloyd, Walter...basically all the names that have been linked to us (by fans and media alike). This is why we lead the league in comp picks over the years. We play it smart.

From a 2014 compensation pick perspective ... we know the losses of Kruger, Williams, Reed and Ellerbe should all results in comp picks but these will be offset by our free agent signings. I think Dumervil counts against the 4 we lost so far ... what about Canty and Spears? Are there any exceptions based on their vet status or because of when they were cut and free to sign with any team?

I don't believe any of them count, since all three were cut by their previous teams.

Makes sense - so we're on track for another 4 again at the moment.

Cap situation looks a lot better given we have potentially 12 cheap contracts coming from the 2013 draft and another 11 as it stands on paper from the 2012. Obviously I expect some wheeling and dealing and a lot could change but this makes the overall cap situation the next few years look more promising.

I trust in Oz, Decosta and our scouting department to find out next wave of players like Suggs, Ngata, Webb, Rice, Flacco, Pierce, KO, etc.
