I'd normally be with you but I would give Ravor a break. He is a great contributor here and his articles on the cap are excellent. With that said, this could use a merge.there are like 3 topics on the draft forums that are about the exact same topic. this thread belongs in the draft section with the other comp pick threads
And yeah, I figured we would get a 4th, 5th, 6th & 7th. Not too bad. Not at all. I hope we get a 3rd from Grubbs, lol. Hopefully they are sympathetic and give us a break, and we get a 3rd, 4th, 5th & 6th.
Welcome to the Super Bowl Champion Baltimore Ravens, Matt Elam, #32nd overall, 1st round pick!
Welcome to the Super Bowl Champion Baltimore Ravens, Arthur Brown #56th overall, 2nd round pick!
Welcome to the Super Bowl Champion Baltimore Ravens, Brandon Williams, #94th overall, 3rd round pick!

Sorry, I thought this was pertinent for the main board since the announcement is expected today, but the Mods can certainly move it if they see fit.

If this was moved then I most probably wouldn't have seen it. I would love to pick up an additional 3rd rounder for Grubbs.

whats the chance of a third, I'm just assumed it would never happenRavens should expect 4, likely a 4th, 5th, 6th and 7th (but, hopefully, a 3rd, 5th, 6th and 7th)

well how much money did the saints pay grubbs? since he made the pro bowl, we might get a 3rd.
He signed a 5 year $36 million deal. We should get a 3rd round pick for him. That is Gold for Ozzie.

i would assume we would get a third rounder. thats a lot of money, plus grubbs made the pro bowl. we better get a 3rd rounder for that.

No, Grubbs did not make the Pro Bowl. Iupati from the 49ers & Sitton from the Packers made the Pro Bowl, but Iupati didn't go due to the Super Bowl so Evans went from NO. Grubbs wasn't even a back-up.i would assume we would get a third rounder. thats a lot of money, plus grubbs made the pro bowl. we better get a 3rd rounder for that.

I think he meant made the pro bowl 2011 his last year with us going into FA. That and his contract and playing time should give us a 3rd.

He did get a lot of money, but there were 5 or 6 contracts that had a higher yearly average (which is the first step and biggest consideration in determining Comp picks), so I'm thinking that that is going to knock him down to a 4th. Making the Pro Bowl might have been enough to raise it up to a 3rd, but he didn't make the Pro Bowl last year (he did with us in 2011).
Hope I'm wrong, but I think it's going to be a 4th.

That's incorrect. His 2011 body of work has no impact on our compensation. His 2012 body of work, making the playoffs, Pro Bowl status, starting as well as contract figures play the role in his compensation. If he made the Pro Bowl in 2009, 2010, 2011 and started every game in 2012 that has no impact on our 2013 compensation for him. Now, if he made the Pro Bowl in 2012, then yeah.I think he meant made the pro bowl 2011 his last year with us going into FA. That and his contract and playing time should give us a 3rd.

Unfortunately, that doesn't matter. It only matters what he does in his first year with the new team. A Pro Bowl in 2012 with the Saints would have been helpful, and likely enough to assure a 3rd rounder, but a Pro Bowl in 2011 is, unfortunately, of no help.
EDIT - Yeah, what Grim said!

I agree with you. I think we'll get a 4th. Only way I see us getting a 3rd is if the other guys who got contracts are voided compensation due to other signings. The Ravens are really good at avoiding losing comp picks, so there's a chance we can get higher late-round picks. People didn't see us getting a pick due to Redding but we somehow made the contract in a way where we would. Lol, I have no idea how we work that magic. He did get a lot of money, but there was 5 or 6 contracts that had a higher yearly average (which is the first step and biggest consideration in determining Comp picks), so I'm thinking that that is going to knock him down to a 4th. doesnt help he didnt even get the biggest deal at his position that off season with nicks getting considerably moreHe did get a lot of money, but there were 5 or 6 contracts that had a higher yearly average (which is the first step and biggest consideration in determining Comp picks), so I'm thinking that that is going to knock him down to a 4th. i was mistaken. i thought he made it as a saint, but it was actually 2011 for the ravens. so maybe we wont get a third rounder. the saints didnt make the playoffs, so i would assume we'll get a 4th rounder.
