My prob with Saffold is his health.

Same lol.
But he's a good player. Will prob come cheap, and most importantly, we will prob use that 6th rounder that SF gave us. That would make me lol

If we got Saffold then I would re-sign McKinnie for insurance. He won't be too expensive and has proven he is able to fill in. I'm just not a fan of having McKinnie for a whole season:
1.Because of conditioning
2. He's old, a stop-gap, and we need a young guy to get experience (though we don't have that guy yet)
3.He isn't that great of a LT. I know he did very well in the playoffs, but he is useless in the run game and his pass defense is inconsistent.

I might be more interested than I initially was now that we have passed the draft.

Saffold is not better than Monroe... I would go him instead.

Plus, Saffold isn't going anywhere

The National Football Post's Dan Pompei reports the Rams are not interested in trading RT Rodger Saffold.

The Ravens "continue to talk" to free agent LT Bryant McKinnie.

I have a feeling he'll be the LT next year

I mean, I keep reading you guys point out health when it comes to Bell and Saffold but at the same time we had a fat dude who played all of 4 games last year....

Got a point. Beggars (at left tackle) can't be choosers. Question: Is it possible for Ravens to sign some undrafted Left Tackle rookie to see how he does? Or typically there's no Left tackle UDFA?

There are UDFA LTs. There aren't any good UDFA LTs.

The Bucs player Donald Penn was a UDFA LT and I think he is still starting.

Agreed, really no other situation I see that could be effective.  Even in 2011 McKinnie played the entire season and he was an above average pass blocker.  We just can't run any stretches to his side or weak zones.

Same thing could be said about LB and other positions, but Ellerbe, for one, excelled enough to be signed as a starter by a team. Maybe Ravens could bring someone in.

I'm all about being realistic, but come on, man. There is history that shows you can find capable undrafted RB, LB, WR, CB, pass rushers, QB. Some of those are definitely rarer than others. There's a long history of quality centers & guards.

There are very, very, very few undrafted offensive tackles who become Pro Bowl LTs. I actually might need to look at a list to find some names. That's how rare that is.
