Ray Lewis - we don't know what we lost

70 posts in this topic

I wanted to share pretty obscure video I found on youtube - I haven't seen or heard anybody pointing to it but, although I'm not a religious person, it certainly made me a believer!

We spent so much time lately arguing about who should have Ravens kept on roster and what other players should Ravens bring in. In the process we completely lost a perspective and the fact that there is one man we can never replace.

When you get everyone on a team to buy in to one concept it truly is amazing the things that happen.

Lmao, are people seriously attributing Ray Lewis "touching" Jones as a factor in his touchdown return? "God" would care less about a football game or if he gave the power to allow a person to return a football 100 yards. I'll probably end up neg'd for this but who cares.

Youre just as ridiculous for saying God wouldnt care... who are any of us to say what God would or would not do.

And considering the Superbowl is shared by more people than almost any other event it seems like a pretty good venue for God to use a vessle to spread His word, His wisdom and His love.

I'm not overly "religious" and not trying to knock you or anyone or claiming to know any more or any less than anyone else here. Just seems to me that if God could use Ray to make another believe, in this case Jacoby, its not that outrageous to think. And if He could use Ray and his words/actions to help form a relationship with the entire Ravens team with one simple gesture (Ray touching Jacoby and immediately after scoring, which in being all-powerful it would be easy for Him to do) then why wouldnt He? 1 football play to inspire faith in over 53 men? Seems pretty worht-while.

Haha just realized i got way too into this post and probably over analyzed this a bit, but oh well.... its fun to think about. No way we'll ever know, point is it doesnt matter what the truth is; if you believe and it inspires faith in you - then its true to you and thats great. If it doesnt - then its not true and thats just as fine.

Santa Claus turned out to not be real but Xmas was a heck of a lot better and more exciting when I believed it. Whether somethigns true or not, real or not... to me thats not what matters. IF believing something makes life more meaningful, happier, better for you - then whats the harm in doing so as long as you dont force those thoughts and beliefs upon other people or hurt those who disagree?

we all know that Ray is a spiritual person and he was explaining that he did...what he felt....God told him to do in touching Jacoby. that's it! Ray didn't know that Jacoby would return the kick off for a TD after he rubbed his hands on him. Ray is a man of faith! and to him...doing what he felt God told him to do...and then seeing that result....who else would he give the credit to other than God? c'mon brah! smh! and no offense here...but it seems like you care about the neg rep because if you didn't you wouldn't have mention it at the end of your post. :D

Man does the possible. God does the impossible. The media said it was impossible for the Ravens to win the Super Bowl. Look at us now.

Glory be to God! Glory be to the Ravens! No weapon formed against them could prosper.

Yeah this is gonna turn into a religion debate real quick, never discuss or mix religion or politics with football.

Religious folk will go with the god angle, non religious folk will go with the coincidence angle, /end thread

Non-religious reply: Watching Jacoby in slow motion makes me cringe when he doesn't look the ball into his hands. We all know how special he is once he gains posession and hits the jets, but we also can't forget his performance in Baltimore in the playoffs the previous season. That's when he helped us win the game while playing for the opposing team with a couple bonehead special teams plays, including a fumble.

LOL the fallacy of god using a football player to touch others throughout the world, didn't work too well because almost nobody knew that ray had touched him, though rays touch did lead to his nitro burst of speed and parting of the red sea (of 49ers) like moses. Sorry if I don't buy into the hype of Ray Lewis, he was an amazing linebacker but I tired (as I imagine many teammates) tired of his endless rants (Flacco even mentions laughing during some of his speeches) and look at me attitude.

Good decision. He doesn't offer much as a pass rusher, but he's physical and good against the run.

We definitely need a guy in the draft that can play coverage though and then Pees needs to work in a whole crap load of dime packages with either a safety or oversized corner next to the LB, instead of a nickel look.

The likes of that man in the NFL will never be seen again. I just feel fortunate to have been able to watch the incredible season we just had .. and to have actually been able to come down for a game in Baltimore from Canada. Raven till I die!

Lol i'm pretty sure that in half of these threads (after the superbowl) even if they weren't directly related to Lewis, he was in some way mentioned. No TRUE Raven fan has forgotten nor will they ever forget #52.
