What are the chances of getting Todd Heap back?

Before this topic gets shot down, hear me out. There really isn't a market for him. I don't think it's a huge risk signing him to a small contract. He's a vet that will make our WRs and TEs better. I know he was riddled with injuries while he was here, but maybe at TE2 or TE3, he gets less playing time and stays healthy.

Zero. I love Heap but he is done in the NFL. He has been injury riddled ever since he left the Ravens.

Also, you want your TE3 to be a good/great blocker but Heap wasn't a good blocker in his prime so he won't be any better now.

I'd say zero ... he was hurt once again and missed pretty much the entire season (hurt in week 2). Year before that he only had 32 catches in 12 games for 377 yards. Love Heap, but he has taken way too much punishment over the years. Far to injury prone to be reliable, IMO.

No chance. Sure he was a better blocker than Pitta and Dickson, but I don't really see the point. Pittas got great hands and eis an exceptional route runner

He was a decent blocker, to the dude who said he wasn't. Not saying he's any good now, but he was a good blocker just a few years back at the beginning of Joes career.

Ya sign him back.... to a one day contract so he can retire a Raven.

Now this I can get behind.

As others have said, Heap is done. I think even he knows it.

Now, if we lose or for whatever reason trade Dickson or Ed somehow turns into a great blocker, I would be for signing Dallas Clark. He was productive in TB. But I doubt we bring him here. Still, that would be a signing I would like.

If he was a good blocker than sure. He'd be great to come in and block, occasionally go out for a route but unfortunately he isn't a great blocker.

I wanted to say the same thing.

I thought he had already retired. Didn't he run an ad in Baltimore Sun or something? I guess it was just a thank you to the fans.

That would be fine but at this point in his career, heap would not even be in the same class as Pitta and Dixon, especially when your talking about the kind of offense that will be run. Heap would just slow down the offense but the one day contract to retire a raven would be pretty awesome.

Todd Heap. I loved him too. But man, when you look back at guys like Gregg or Heap, you have to sort of be reminded that Ozzie Newsome watches every practice and is usually ahead of the curve in unemotional player evaluation skills. Guys who are still young, they can still play (antwan barnes), but basically at this point...

if Ozzie cuts a vet or tells a vet to take a paycut...he knows what he's doing.

Same as getting JO back. If the team goes after anyone I think they are looking for someone young or someone who can block. They would probably lrefer both.

I love Heap as much as the next guy, but sadly he would be just shy of a waste of a roster space.

Exactly why we don't want him.

Maybe you didn't see his last season in Arizona - yes his quarterbacks were terrible, but he was so slow it was painful to watch. I didn't think he had anything left then, and 2 years later, he's definitely done. He was 30 when he last played for us, and he'll be 33 now.
