though pick 54 is late 2nd... we'd have to use that 6th to move up a bit
has to be your original pick or better so it can't be 54.

Personally I don't think it will happen but if it did there are some great receiving TE's in this draft, Pitta is a great TE but he's not irreplaceable.

If the Dolphins target him, that's a pretty high second round pick. We'd still have Dickson and there are options in free agency and in the draft.

He's not irreplaceable as good as he is but I don't think it's going to happen.

We have to be able to match. If a team with cap room throws a ridiculous offer at him, he would be gone. That would truly make this the worst offseason ever.

Anyway of we somehow lose Pitta i would be absolutely livid, I'm ok with all the moves so far but that one would not be excusable.

I'm right there with you 110%!

I can understand the logic in letting him go and getting the 2nd rounder because he is 28 and it could be good value, but there is no logic in paying your QB big money and then taking his favorite targets away.

I agree.

If we were to let it happen, I'd prefer they do it only if it's a high second. Anything close to the 3rd round and we need to match it. According to Aaron Wilson though, Boldin's cap hit is still on our books until he takes his physical.

We cannot lose Pitta! He is a heck of a TE and one of Joe's best targets. I would rather see Dickson go and have Pitta stay. I just hope it doesn't happen the other way around. Come on Ozzie...keep Pitta a Raven!

Well it's not going to happen now as far as the Dolphins go. Schefty just reported this:
Former Jets TE Dustin Keller reached agreement on a one-year deal with the Miami Dolphins.
Pitta for Flacco is like what Dallas Clark was for Manning, and in addition to that, I think Oz and FO have pitta in their long term plans so I expect the Ravens to match what ever offer is out there unless its some insane front loaded offer but who would be dumb enough to front load 8-9 million into a TE contract?

Dolphins?

Man the lack of free agent receivers are making these teams a little desperate. Good thing we have some cap room if we get into a bidding war. I wonder what happens when a team with no 2nd round just bids in? What about a team with no first nor 2nd?

Im not surprised at all. The team would have to give up their 2nd rounder and we would have a chance to match the offer Hopefully we can keep him We have the cap room right now.

I would actually love for someone to steal Pitta. This draft is loaded with talent and its not like Pitta is an all-pro. He is an average to slightly above average TE. I feel he is replaceable. That said, I wouldn't want a team like Denver or San Fran stealing him. Those would be the only two Id hate to see him go to.

On business side: Pitta is YOUNG, acrobatic athletic freak, sure hands, crisp route running, and Joe's security blanket.

On personal side: Joe's BFF

All of that, it's a no brainer that Ozzie will match any price that is coming if Pitta agrees on the offer; Ozzie must work out with Pitta's contract early and the longer it takes the expensive it's going to get: just like Joe's contract.

Remember, Pitta will be in Boldin's slot which I think is the reason Boldin's trade.

PS: with all of the vets we lost recently, I am never in any kind of panic mode but if Pitta is gone, I am in panic!.....

The problem is... We don't have any options to replace him.

I trust in Ozzie through all that has happened during this and past off-seasons. We'll keep Pitta, because we can't afford to lose him. And if we don't... then maybe I'll start questioning Ozzie. You can't lose Boldin and Pitta in the same off-season. Well, I mean, they said the same thing about Mason and Heap at the time, BUT we had Boldin and Dickson/Pitta in the system at that time to make up for their loss. Who do we have in the system to make up for the loss this time? And besides, Mason and Heap were DONE when we let them go. I believe Boldin has more left, and Pitta is entering his prime so he DEFINITELY has A LOT MORE left.
