Im not surprised at all. The team would have to give up their 2nd rounder and we would have a chance to match the offer Hopefully we can keep him We have the cap room right now.

The only thing I'm confused on with RFA's is is Pitta required to accept the offer if the Ravens choose not to match it? Or can he choose to decline it and stay with the Ravens no matter what?

Anyway of we somehow lose Pitta i would be absolutely livid, I'm ok with all the moves so far but that one would not be excusable.

I think there is a 0% chance of him not being here next year though, he's too vital to the offense especially with Boldin gone now, plus him and Flacco are buddies

Sign Pitta and Jones to long term deals now so we can save us the inevitable heart attack either this season or next off season.

I wouldn't mind if the Eagles got Dickson, though. Not with their 3rd round pick, though I like Dickson and think he has potential.

The player has to accept and sign an offer from another team before the Ravens get to match it. That way the player isn't just getting his team to "bid up". In other words, an offer means nothing unless the player agrees to accept it.

No way the Ravens will lose Pitta... right?
[/quote]

right!... we got some cap room, he's joe's best mate... he's not signing anything that we're matching and nobody will give us a 2nd and an absurd massive contract to him

i would to be honest... we need LBs, safety, WR - no need to add TE on the list... he's been decent as of late and could get even better under caldwell

I absolutely love Reed as a TE here and would give up Dickson for Philly's 3rd to get him with that pick without a second thought. Reed will be an awesome TE.

Here's the first guy, whose departure might actually hurt us. No way Ozzie will let that happen. That's why we freed up all that cap space. I am not even going to lose sleep over this. It just won't happen guys.

jordan looks good, but he's the third ranked TE in the draft... Eifert gets taken in the 1st, Erzt early to middle second... can't see reed getting out of second

We are going to match any offer. No doubt. Who would let this go:

Answer: NO ONE! And certainly not Ozzie.

True, but then I would take him with our 2nd round pick. TEs don't go that early. And that ranking depends on with whom you speak. Still, there are other TEs that are really good.

"@OmarKelly: The Dolphins had a VERY high opinion of Dennis Pitta, a RFA, when he was coming out in the draft. I'm starting to think he's an option now."

This is a columnist for the Miami Sun Sentinel. If they're interested, that scares me. They've been overpaying everyone.

Pitta for Flacco is like what Dallas Clark was for Manning, and in addition to that, I think Oz and FO have pitta in their long term plans so I expect the Ravens to match what ever offer is out there unless its some insane front loaded offer but who would be dumb enough to front load 8-9 million into a TE contract?

How many times did Ozzie allow an RFA to leave? I can't remember, but if he ever had, it didn't happen often. Newsome will match, no doubt.

Have to remember pitta is 28, and early second would be a good deal. Grab Elam in the first, armstead with that pick and then Escobar in the late second to replace pitta.

the league hasn't seen RFA leaving for picks as of late... i read somewhere (cbs maybe, sorry can't remember) that there's a tacit agreement between francises not to do such deals

They must surrender #42 overall. When you sign a team's RFA to an offer sheet you must surrender your original pick or better.

though pick 54 is late 2nd... we'd have to use that 6th to move up a bit

nb: i accepted to be wrong about this already

my bad then sorry... pick 42 wouldn't be bad... but it's pitta we're talking about (joe will be pissed and we'll have only Torrey left up front)
