Ravnet

What to do...

47 posts in this topic

I need some help. The Ravens, much to my disappointment, made an early departure from the postseason this year, and now I don't know what to do to fill in the time between seasons.

Of course, I have work and family, but typical of the last 10 years, the Orioles are mediocre to terrible, and the Wizards are out of the post-season too with the loss and Gil and Caron.

So, what should I do to fill my time with training camp three months away, and the regular season almost five months in the future?

Umm...actually get outside, for once? I dunno...that's what I usually try to do...

During football season, I practically have no social life outside of the Ravens...like, I'm practically dead to my non-football-watching friends in the fall, especially on Sundays...

I can't even get into baseball all that much...and honestly, basketball just isn't entertaining enough to me...

But, I guess the consolation prize is playing EA Sports' NCAA Football and Madden NFL games...

...too bad they come out when training camp and preseason roll around, though...so by then, getting your football fix is a moot point...

At least NFLN has game of the week replays, I always save Spring and Summer for the kids because the Fall is mine!

Hey how the heck do you think I feel right now??!! I'm in BOSTON for cryin' out loud!!! :) And the tv here in quarters doesn't get cable so I can't while away my free time being a slug on the couch watching NFL Network, like I did when I was home.

So expect to see me here on the forums a lot this summer cause my withdrawal is going to be intense..specially nearer to fall and the start of the season.

As someone else mentioned, GET OUTSIDE

I think the worse part of the offseason for Football is over. We just had the draft and now mini camps will be coming up for the next couple months, so there will always be some sort of news going on with the team.

Do some traveling. Now's the perfect time! I'm like El Franchise, I can't get into baseball and can barely watch basketball. Take a trip to Florida or something. I'm in Japan now but only cause Im stationed here. Not carrying the funds like that yet. But yea when Im not glued to the tv watching my boyys play Im out and about trying not to seem too much like a tourist.

Try picking up madden online for ps2. Get a bunch of friends together and play a football game, or just toss the football around your backyard. Also the weather is finally getting better, So that means its prime BBQing and beer drinking season. Goto an O's game, if your lucky they might win. Or even a Baysox/Shorebirds game.

Y'know, NFL Network has always been there for me in these types of situations, so maybe I should've recommended that, earlier...

I personally would say enjoy your sports. Heck take it from me it has sucked the most actually during football season.. but I still cheer every Sunday for Cleveland to win.

I enjoy the array of sports such as right now.. watching Cleveland pummel Washington. (Sorry had to throw that in there. =D) And when that's done with there's the Indians... which will lead right up to training camp and pre-season for the NFL and the cycle goes on and on..

Actually...now that I think about it...the earlier suggestion of throwing a BBQ sounds good right about now...

...even at 10:51PM on a Monday night...LOL :P

With the NFL network, there is good NFL on all year now. I am not a big fan of watching the college athletes work out, other than watching the rcvrs workouts and drills but they always have good games and news on. Also do some fishing once the weather gets nice.

Me personally, I try to go to as many Orioles games as I can (even though they aren't that good, I still love em') and I don't know about a lot of you but I am a huge wrestling fan as well and WWE puts on 3 shows a week and 1 PPV a month.

There's a wrestling thread and an Orioles thread in the Off-Topic section; you should hit those up.
