Wes Welker: $6 million per year

23 posts in this topic

I guess Wes Welker wasn't even worth 6m p.year for the patriots.

I don't think they will ever have that kind of production from any WR. It sucks for them to low-ball him like that.

Good for Donkeys picking him up I suppose :D

O my goodness... Peyton got a real slot reciever. That's terrifying.
Stokley?

Stokley?
You think Stokely is better than Wes? (Though i shouldn't have said a 'real' slot reciever. I should have said elite or something)
I know they were always on the same page. Manning and Welker have no connection.

Oh man, the Broncos are running the AFC now. Also, how furious will Brady be? The Pats couldn't even sign his most productive receiver for 6$mill? Maybe Welker just went to Denver out of anger over the whole drama surrounding his contract talks with the Pats. They certainly don't seem to respect him.

Wow after Brady gave the Pats a pay cut, they let Welker walk. That will stick in his crawl. Not happy he ended up in Denver. The Broncos will be scary good!

I LOVE how Wes Welker essentially pulled a "Ray Allen" and signed with Boston's/New England's rival for less money.

Funniest part is that the Pats are paying more for Welker's replacement.
Yeah, for Amendola. That's hilarious.

Thomas, Decker, and now Welker. Peyton just raised his fantasy football status.

Amendola got paid, but I doubt he will play out his contract. The man is made of glass and will get on the injury report often. The cold won't help either. Patriots gambled on Welker's replacement and we will see of they win or lose.

Picking a guy with injury concerns is pretty dumb, imho. The Pats offense already has two cornerstones in Gronk and Hernandez, that struggle with staying healthy and now you add Amendola into that and subtract the most reliable piece of that puzzle in WElker?
Maybe Amendola proves me wrong, stays healthy and will have same kind of report Welker had with Brady, but I sort of doubt that.

I heard Brady is not happen that the Pats ran his security blanket out of town. True that both TEs have injury concerns. Patriots are investing a lot on three injury-proned weapons along with a struggling defense.

Didn't he make that deal with the Pats to free up cap space specifically to keep the guy? Tom got screwed by his own team on this one.

Well my first pick in Fantasy Football just got a lot easier. Manning is salivating just looking at the receiving core
Ugh, and we have to play them AT Denver next regular season. Talk about trial by fire for our all new defense.

Manning when asked for a reaction about the addition of Welker...

He seems into it.

The broncos will once again have a great regular season record. Peyton will probably break passing records. They'll most likely have a first round bye.

But when the playoffs starts who will choke?

Peyton throwing a crucial INT? Or Welker dropping key passes?

That's what I was thinking. They could destroy any defence in the NFL or choke the hardest. I like the Broncos, but I know what I'm hoping will happen.

I remember reading an article on the net a few months back about how from what the writer had heard from people, if given the chance between staying in NE or leaving for the same money, Welker would pick up and leave in a heartbeat. I guess he was right. He said that Welker has felt completely disrespected by members of the organization and especially Belicheck. I guess he finally had enough.
