Wow leads me to believe this is in our future....And with the First selection of the 2014 Draft the Baltimore Ravens select Jadeveon Clowney University of South Carolina
We don't even get Clowney; We get Matt Barkley who is still sitting in the Green Room.

Gallows humor I guess.

Ozzie I trust you drafting most positions but Wide Receivers you should get them in free agency. The 2 best wr we had are Boldin and Mason both free agents.

Definitely surprised to see Pollard go, but I think Ozzie wasn't too impressed with the 17th ranked total defense. Pollard played as tough as anyone on our team though and left it all on the line in the Superbowl...sad to see him go.

Flacco must be sweating bullets right now. The defense has dwindle down to nothing right now, and the offense is missing major pieces in Boldin & McKinnie. I can see making the cuts on defense and keeping Boldin but when you make cuts on both sides of the ball, that's questionable. The only thing I could think of is, Newsome is making moves to bring in a free agent Wr.

Who's next? Reed? Leach? Sizzle? Man nothing will ever surprise me again in the offseason. Super Bowl was a gift and a curse we're losing everybody.
Reed is free agent... Leach might be next... Sizzle didn't get cut last year when he could've so he'll be safe for this coming season

okay this came as a surprise. BUT i think we just need to keep calm and trust Ozzie. when has he ever let us down? the same stuff was said last year when we lost key starters and fan favourites, people said we had a weak squad at the start of the season and that we would struggle in the playoffs then we turned up and won the superbowl! These moves may seem crazy now but Ozzie knows what he is doing and its time for the young guys to step up and become Ravens. Just keep calm, Ozzie got this.

Unless they are just that serious about their youth movement, I really don't get this one. The Ravens are not only losing talent, more importantly they're losing leadership. And for only a savings of $1 mil?

I'm at a loss. I'm...I don't know what to say. The only words that come to mind are inappropriate for this website.

I was going to go into a rant but their has to be some rhyme and reason to this. I keep waiting to hear Leach is gone as well cause it really would be crazy to keep Leach based on the housecleaning that has already concerned. I am getting worried year after yer that Ozzie is getting old at this, like Al Davis, and misses the forest for the trees. Having said all that, this is a great year for free agent cornerbacks, wide receivers and safeties. Also, the draft, which we have 12 picks in, is very deep in defensive players. The key to Oz, like in New England, is load up on draft picks, use them as trade leverage and also use them to move around in the draft to get which players we really like. I addition, Oz likes to scour the rosters for final cuts at the end of preseason. It isn't over yet, but Oz sure likes to keep us guessing and I wish I was a fly on the wall cause it's driving me crazy. Oz, give me a call and let me know what's going on, I am anxious to see what you have up your sleeve, otherwise your getting a whole bunch of fans on the bay bridge getting ready to jump.

so what about brandon ayandbenjo why is he still on the team??? and leach?? we can easily draft a te/fb for cheaper.

B/c they both play special teams. Leach is a huge part of the reason Jacoby got so many return yards. Him and Anthony Allen are both key blockers on special teams. When you have worth on both offense or defense and special teams you are worth more money. Hence, also keeping David Reed.

Honestly, guys there is a reason we don't run NFL teams and Ozzie does. Hearing the doom and gloom from fans is pretty freaking hilarious. Especially since most of you will be singing Ozzie's praises in a few months when you realize he wasn't just cutting people for fun but actually had a plan for the offseason.

1 million in cap? Is really worthy? Hope Sizzle and Ngata get healthy this season, cuz we will have trouble to replace the swagger we lose with the Bone Crusher gone

Pollard plays like a Raven. However he is almost guaranteed to be suspended by the league on multiple occasions moving forward. In a pass happy league you simply cannot afford to have a starting safety that you know is going to miss games -- especially for a team with annual playoff aspirations. If a suspension were to come in the post-season against what you know is going to be a team with a quality QB it is game over. As much as I have enjoyed Pollard playing here, I agree with the move.

Respectfully given,
LoS

I ddon't like losing Pollard but again everyone needs to just chill out and relax. People who are saying we will go 4-12 next year are clueless. Even with losing Boldin we still have one of the best offenses in the AFC. We are set on offense and we will no doubt pick up a LT or re-sign McKinney to take care of our one week spot. As far as defense, I am confident we can re-load in the draft and FA. Just remember our defense was not great last year even with the players we have lost. Kruger and Ellerbee couldn't leave here fast enough for the money so what does that say about them. They will end up like Bart Scott, Ed Hartwell, Adalius Thomas, Jim Leonard, etc. We will be in the playoffs for sure next year and once you are in anything can happen. Lets give OZ and the FO a chance before overreacting.

Like most fans I am truly confused. I know the GM and head coach won't have a press conference to explain, but can one of you "football smart" fans explain to me why we released Pollard? I understand the free agents yesterday.

Ozzie to Bisciotti: "Steve - you know what? I think we have made the playoff 5 straight years and won a SB. Don't you think it is time to start a trend where we don't make the playoffs for the next 5?"

Bisciotti to Ozzie: "In Oz I trust! Go for it!"
That's the way it looks.. Lewis, Reed, Kruger, Ellerbe & Pollard are gone. The D-Line is not stout, you see what happen in the Super Bowl when Ngata went out. When we release players in the past we had depth and we knew their backups could pick up the slack. The only position we can actually say will be ok is Krugers position. What position on defense out of the starters that left are you comfortable with?
