Pollard was one of my favorite Ravens, sad to see him go, but I know that the mastermind Oz has a plan.
The sky isnt falling, the Ravens will make the right FA pick ups. Guys who we've probably barely heard before who we'll be in love with.
Also, we have 8 picks in the draft with at least 3 more coming for JJ, Grubbs and Redding. We will load up in the draft and in Free agency for cheap! We gotta pay our own, Pitta, Torrey & Art.

I was onboard (or at least rolling-with-the-punches & trusting in Ozzie) with every other move thus far. Pollard was our best defensive player in 2012, played the SuperBowl with multiple cracked ribs (& no one knew), completely under-rated, a "Patriot-killer" and QUITE inexpensive. . . . .plus still very young. I love my team; I trust Ozzie; I DO NOT understand this move at all. . . . He #Play'd Like A Raven

So, originally the plan was go all-out to sign Ellerbe and solidify the middle of the D. OK, we sign Canty (really effective when healthy, but often hurt), and the Boldin trade seemed to make sense when we were still targeting Ellerbe. But now that this is all playing out, it feels like there was no real plan at all! Now, our fiercest offensive player (and locker room leader) is gone for a measely 6th round pick, our best pass rusher is now going to be pressuring Flacco twice/year, our hardest hitter is gone, and aside from Ray Lewis, our most prominent tackler is now in Miami. What the heck? Oz!!? We've significantly weakened the team....I guess it's back to hoping we make the playoffs, and not expect another Super Bowl run for a while. We're now going to have a tough time beating the Bengals for the division crown....ugh

The Ravens have just released Bernard Pollard. Now that`s a shocker, apparently the Ravens know something we don`t. I will just wait and see what Ozzie`s plan is behind this. Be patient, we go through this every year and keep in mind we have many younger players we have not seen much of and maybe the Ravens thinks some of them are ready to step up. One expert predict the Ravens will be a dangerous team next year because they will have a team full of hungry younger players bend on proving themselves. Keep in mind the Ravens are one of the best teams in developing young talents, we have watched many of the younger players bloomed into a great football players and lose them later because we cannot pay them all big money after they finished out their 3 - 5 years rookie contract because of the salary cap. Relax and wait and see what happens. We`ll be fine because most of our offense is pretty much still intact. It`s the defense that needs work on and let Ozzie do his magic to shore up the defense within the salary cap. It takes weeks/months to put the pieces together till training camp starts. Have a Coke and a smile because we are in good hands with the one of the best front office in the NFL. Thanks to Pollard for all you have done. it was a joy watching you. Best of luck in the future.

Why don't we just release the entire team and start afresh? What in the world is going on with the Ravens? Are we just tired of fielding competitive teams??

The Ravens have been working for the past couple of years to change the "bully" image... reduce penalties and fines... and find a more balanced team.

I don't get it, why Pollard? if you were trying to cut someoen for cap space why not Leach? his cap is higher and he's less useful. *sigh* This blows Pollard was easily one of my favorite Ravens.

Is Ozzie planning to cut ray rice next? seems like our best players are on the chopping block

this had better be one heck of a plan!! Rebuilding is clearly taking place. But at least we kept our quarterback, and with these moves it will boost his jersey sales for the team.

I will caution most you of you to one possible scenario... Ozzie might have something up his sleeve, but it might have nothing to do with 2013.

And if, and I don't think we are, but if we are rebuilding, I honestly can't think of a better time to do it.

Are you serious?
[/quote]
I was not serious, just confused. Seems like Ozzie is cleaning house, dismantling the Super Bowl Champions.

Very Very Sad

We must have very high hopes for either resigning Ed or massive confidence in Christian Thompson/Omar Brown/James Ihedigbo. As others said, I really wanna see the explanation here because this makes even less sense than some of our other moves...

one of the dumbest moves i have ever seen, you release one of the toughest players in the league who optimizes what a raven is..just so you can save $1 million dollars, but turn around and sign David reed for 2.3 million who barely played the last 2 seasons..im confused did we win the superbowl las season or go 2-14...i can't tell the difference right now
