I guess I'm confused. The only way I can understand is that the unknown player who told this reporter the information probably saw a small disagreement and over-exaggerated. I doubt someone straight lied about it though. The fact he has been through 4 teams in 8 years despite his great play really says something.

Agreed. Something's not right but I doubt we ever learn what that is.

Wonder where he's going to end up. I know one thing, if I was the NE Patriots, I'd pick him up. Better him on your sideline than in the opposing secondary waiting to jack your team up again.

Pollard is the hardest hitter in the history of the Ravens.
I disagree. Ray Lewis is easily the hardest hitter IMO.

Don't play with fire. He will somehow turn this around on Flacco.......

The other difference is one is proven to be factual because its on film and the other is standard hearsay.

Not so sure about this. I loved BP's play, but that crap has no place in a Ravens locker room. I'm guessing this(or similar incidents), along with his poor coverage skills, were the reasons we were his third team in 5 years.

In any event, we will never know the true story. A lot goes on behind the scenes we don't know about. Either way:

Thank you Pollard for playing through cracked ribs, for hitting hard, for helping the Ravens take home another Lombardi. Good luck in the future, as long as you're not facing our Ravens.

"we won't change everything like we did after we won the superbowl last time" -Ozzie apparently
I don't recall Ozzie saying that. But I do remember him saying that he won't restructure and re-sign everybody to make another run and repeat because when they did that after the previous Superbowl the year after the salary cap was in hell and they were forced to make tough decisions on those players.

When he left the team. Ray Rice went from awesome to 'bad at hitting the hole, no breakaway speed, not clutch,' when it was reported that he wanted AP money. Not confirmed, just reported. Of course he went back to awesome status after he signed for less. I really only peruse Ravens boards so it may be an overall fan thing but Ravens fans sure are good at pretending a player was horrible if it even seems like they won't be/aren't Ravens anymore.
It's not that people pretend a player was horrible, they just prefer to look at the negatives when they are leaving. If Ray Rice had breakaway speed he would have a lot more touchdowns. He does get caught from behind a lot. Also, he cutsback way too often. Remember when Ray told him to follow Leach, I'm sure that really helped him.

Yes but the guy's positives severely outweigh his negatives. He's not Chris Johnson fast. So what, he's way more durable. He cuts because that's his game. When it works he gains a heck of a lot of yards (4th and 29). When it doesn't it doesn't. To me that isn't a negative.

Didn't he kind of show that in his playoff performance this year? Make no mistake, it is one reason that Leach has not been a cap casualty. Rice's run production goes way down without Leach clearing the way. Sure he had 4th & 29, and we all know that he's capable of that performance. The point is that for some reason around here, anytime you tell the truth about a players' abilities once they've been cut or moved on, now you're just hating, even though you've stated that same truth during the season. Because people come around acting like this is the only time it's been said. People said those things of Rice before the AP money thing came around. Just like now. People have talked about Pollard being a liability in pass coverage, about he wouldn't be as effective without Reed back there with him, long before now.
Sure! He fumbled in the playoffs, twice! The fact that he always seems to do this is weird. Yet without him NOT doing it and being an all pro during the regular season in order for us to get to the playoffs in the first place shouldn't be understated. The point that we apparently disagree on is that this ONLY happens during game threads or when it seems the player is gone. When a poster made a thread early in 2012 about Ed Reed being a liability he got at least twenty negs. NO ONE agreed and yet now everyone is in agreeance with allll the points that guy made. Why?! Because it looks like he's gone and somehow fans have to make right with that.

I have been looking at the Broncos forum looking for info on Dumervil and it is hilarious the things they're saying about him. He's a horrible run stopper, he's only half as good as the worst pass rusher in the league, blah blah. These are posters with gifs of Doom sacking premier QBs like Brady and Ben . This is what fans do to steel the blow and that's okay but denying it just makes it worse.

I'm pretty sure your point would be that he was the best player on our defense and didn't deserve to get cut.

 No, my point was originally that rumors of his cut being about berating other players were largely unsubstantiated and that explanations starting with, 'Not so sure,' solidified that stance.

Pollard picked-up by Tennessee. I really wonder why we didn't try to trade him. Time constraints? We coulda gotten SOMETHING for him! What do you all think the reason was?

The only team that apparently even made on offer to Pollard was Tennessee, and that's where he ended up signing. It appears he doesn't have much trade value.

There's a good chance Pollard wasn't traded so we could get more cap relief this year. Pollard is designated a June 1st release. That means his total guaranteed hit doesn't come until next year. I think that's why he wasn't traded.

Perhaps the F/O was simply trying to clear cap space as quickly as possible, a combination with the former, or just the former.

Even if the cap space saved with his release may seem negligible, every penny inevitably counts.
