I agree entirely that those are more important needs, but I also dont think Upshaw is going to be a top notch pass rusher just yet. The Kruger/Upshaw combo was a nice compliment to Suggs, and right now, there is no combo. Its Upshaw and Suggs and nobody. Harrison should come cheap and replace the Kruger 3rd down role. Him and Suggs off the edge could be deadly, despite him being a steeler, the guy can play

Even if Harrison wasn't a dirty thug, he won't be cheap. He left the Steelers due to not wanting his salary lowered. Why would he come to us for less?

I guess I am a bit excited, but I am not sure if that is in a good way or a bad. A little bummed about the losses of familiar players, but that will happen every year. Nature of the beast. I will say that Oz does some weird and wonderful stuff every FA season. It is fun watching all the "pro" fans dicker about who they think we will pick up and then Oz grabs someone that no one here would ever have guessed we might get. With all the changes to our and other teams it will be an intetresting season, that is for sure.

End result, I typically like what the team does in FA and the draft.

In 2013 we will have a lot of different players on the field. I look forward to the season to come. Not worried about these off season moves. I for one would not like to play chess with Ozzie. That guy does not just think 3 moves aheadl, he thinks 5 or 6. This will all be fun the watch.

I'm excited for the next Tom Brady/Arian Foster we will bring in with our trusted 6th round pick. :D And all the FAs we'll bring in now that we've saved $1mill fro releasing Bernard Pollard.

Fun times. :)

I'm curious to see how everything will work out. With Ray Lewis and a number of the other FAs gone, it's time for a re-imagining of the Ravens. I wish we could have a Top-5 defense next year, but we were far from that last year. The defense will be reinvigorated with young players with Suggs and Ngata carrying on the Ravens tradition and getting everyone up to snuff. Offensively we're missing Boldin's leadership, but we could bring in a veteran player to just sit on the bench and still have him mentor our WR (similar to what we expected Bulger to do with Joe).

Next year will be completely different than anything we've had for the last decade, but that was already expected with Ray Lewis retiring. I'm curious to see how many gems Ozzie has had stashed on our roster, how well Pees handles all these new pieces, and how Caldwell continues our offense's improvements.

When you have 11 draft picks, you have to assume some of the players you had last year weren't going to stick around. What's the big deal?

Pollard's release initially hit me hard. After a day to let it sink in and get some perspective, I'm truly truly excited to see what our defense will do in 2013. Let's face it, if we're honest, our defense was bad, very bad. Especially versus the run. We could be like the Steelers and hold onto our vets until they need walkers to take the field, or put emotion aside and know when it's time to let go.

When I initially heard the story of the locker room meeting, I was concerned. Harbs wanted them to practice in pads (one aspect of the CBA that I think really hurts the performance on the field, is limiting pad practices. We see it in all those missed tackles) and Reed and I believe it was Pollard said no. I didn't like that then, no matter that they resolved the issue. I don't think we're really trying that hard to bring back Ed Reed either.

Hey, they'll be young, they'll make mistakes but you never know what diamonds in the rough we could have there. Just look how our previously unknown Corners performed when seeing field time this past season.

I keep hearing everyone going on about SF's 14 picks....we have about 12 picks ourselves. I think it's going to be a very exciting season coming up.

[/quote]i agree with you I don't think the front office wants ed back and some rumors are suggesting we r both right I wasn't excited at first i was discussing football with a friend and she said . You know it isn't all bad young teams although they make mistakes they are fun to watch and can be very successful with the right coaching, and i lost sight of that for awhie pollard boldin and reed are some of my favorites so my initial reaction was anger and doom and gloom. she also said when you get a chance take a peak at the seahawks and the colts roster's two very young teams and then you can't argue that the youth movement is a bad thing.
