Trade a late round pick to acquire Titans WR Nate Washington?

31 posts in this topic

We could get Titans WR Nate Washington probably for the same pick we acquired for the loss of Anquan Boldin...Titans are shopping him for a late round pick.

Washington has been fairly productive for the QB crummy Titans the past 2 seasons recording 1758 yards and 11 TDs .

He would be a good #2 receiver IMO...he is owed $4.2M but he has good production to back it up. For a 6th or 7th rounder could it be worth it?

I mean if he could catch 1000 yards in 1 season catching passes from Jake Locker and Matt Hasselbeck imagine what he could do here?

Just think we give up a 6th or 7th rounder...nothing pretty much for a guy who has been very productive on a crappy passing team. He has some skill.

We trade for him and restructure his deal to better help the cap. I think it would be solid.

I'd much rather scoop up a guy like Amendola for less money and less of a cap hit, plus we wouldnt have to give up a pick.

There are better FA options that we can get with less of a cap hit.

Not many good ones...We could trade a late round pick for him and then extend his contract giving him a much lower 2013 cap hit...well worth it IMO

Danny Amendola is not going to come for under $6M a year pal...and what is a 6th or 7th round pick worth when we could get a young 1000 yard receiver who could add some decent young talent to our team

No, but I wouldn't mind trading a late round pick for Britt :P

Yes maybe. Would still rather bring in a Kevin Ogeltree

Britt is going to sign a multi year deal with the Tennesse State Penetentary one of these days...he is in an out of jail on the reg

The thing is I want us to get younger at WR not older. Nate Washington is a good WR, but really? He's as old as Boldin isn't he? I wouldn't hate the idea. A 7th round pick isn't really that bad. But still, his contract is decent at 4.2M. That's not exactly cheap.

Considering Amendola's injury history, no GM in their right mind would give him six million a year.

He is already getting offers from Tennessee, Minnesota, and Baltimore is in the mix too. I bet you he will exceed 6M per year. It will just be a Percy harvin-like deal that helps the team out incase of injury...basically low amount of guaranteed $

Yeah, I already mentioned in another post I was wrong about that. Not sure why I thought he was 33 or so.

I actually don't think this would be a bad idea if we don't sign anyone else as a free agent receiver. Washington is still a very crafty vet receiver in his route running and has pretty decent speed still. Seeing as our team just traded for a 6th round pick (and likely may have a comp pick at the end of that round our team has to use) I wouldn't mind giving up our one of those 6th rounders or a 7th rounder. The question is would Ozzie be willing to take on a 4.2 million salary? Since they wanted Boldin to take a 2 million paycut initially before the trade, I would say he probably wouldn't mind.

not sure what the hate is all about. i like this idea a lot but only if our FA luck fails. Maybe try Jennings before we make a move like this.

have we given up on victor cruz or is that just not possible anymore?
I don't think we were ever going after Cruz, so it would be hard to give up if you never got started.

I disagree, I think Amendola will end up with a two or three year deal at around four million a year tops. Unless a WR desperate team like Minnesota overpays him, I think we'd have a decent chance of signing him to a deal like that. I think his injury history is really going to hurt him, no pun intended.

Amendola is really injury prone.

Has anyone seen Washington play the last few seasons? the guy can straight up ball.
Haven't seen him play in a while, but from what I can remember from his time in Pittsburgh is that he's a solid player. His stats look pretty solid for a number 2, 3 receiver.

Seriously I'd rather draft a young receiver early and give him a nice shot to compete. Nate Washington is a good player, but 4.2 million for a number 3 receiver (after Torrey and Jacoby who I assume will start as the number 2 receiver next year)?

Why?

Too much money for a guy who has done nothing in his career
