2013: What it will depend on.

The title is a little misleading. I am not being negative

But come on, to say we are missing the playoffs is BS.

Why do we overreact as a freaking fanbase? I thought we had one of best fanbases in the NFL?

This is more of a thread (not a positivity one) to smack some common sense into all of you!

FA is only one part of the offseason...

Lets look at who we have lost in FA

Boldin- we are getting younger for the future.
Ellerbe-Ok, this stings
Kruger-Situational Pass rusher.

Honestly, even with those losses. We are still a contender. Here is why...

Ellerbe out of all three of these things stings the most. He was a potential premier ILB. But there was one knock on him. He cannot stay healthy for his life. He will be hardest to replace.

Boldin was getting older. This was inevitable

I will not miss Kruger much...

We still have a very good core.....

To get back to possible SB status. We will have to do the following three things in FA.

1. Persue a LT or WR in FA
2. In FA, build smartly on the front 7. The secondary is fine.
3. Take a chance on another KR. Jacoby might be cut/have a down year. I would reccomend going for Ginn.

Explanation-
We now have the cap to sign whoever the hell we want.

FA's on the market for LT include these players
1. Jake Long
2. Bryant Mckinnie
3. Demetress Bell

One of them is a consolation prize, the other is a selfish fool, and the other one is a tad injury prone.

We need one of them..

The second most important position on a football team is a LT. We need to protect our franchise QB. I would like Long... But too expensive...

WR: We need another solid threat for Joe to throw to now that Q is gone.... Potential targets are

1. Jennings
2.Amendola
3. David Nelson

Same deal...

2....
We are already going for Canty. That would help the Dline a lot.

A cheap guy like Harrison, Grant. Would do this team good....

3. KR/PR
Ginn Cribbs and Spurlock are on the market... Jacoby is great, but I can see Harbs doing this. He loves special teams guys, and with any of these three, you would have to kick the ball out of bounds. This would give us a clear advantage over any team in the NFL. Plus, it would provide another reciving threat if they do the same thing Jacoby did...........

Draft wise. Leave it to Ozzie, that is where he is at his best...

My Mock Offseason
Brad Jones MLB (Upgrade from Ellerbe)
Demetress Bell LT(Cheap)
James Harrison OLB(Cheap vet)
Ed Reed
Ted Ginn (Amazing ST)

Now the next season (no pressure) will fall into the hands of one player.... Jimmy Smith.

If Smith becomes the shutdown CB. It would be near impossible to throw vs us.

Webb
Reed
Jimmy
Grahm is a shutdown slot guy

With Pollard coming in to knock you out for support.

Really, I do not see why you all are so worried..

Our needs have remained the same
LT
NT
MLB
WR

We will be fine. We have kept our core.

Ozzie knows what he's doing. But, if he follows the plan (this one) that I think he is following, we will be SB contenders again.

On Offense. We need Torrey to break out. That's the ticket to that

Well I think you win the Super Bowl one year, you should automatically be considered Super Bowl contenders the next year, regardless of what happens in the off-season. Personally, I think that goes for any team. But I agree with a lot of your points.

i think we need more then canty to fix the dline, on offense we need wide recievers that can catch and contribute . the stuff on these threads lately is anger and its justified . in ozzie we trust except ...... his history of drafting wideouts except torrey is suspect. but no one is perfect . if we lose reed the backlash from boldin will look like a hiccup.

I think harrison is a good fit for the chiefs or the browns or the cards or any other team not called the ravens i can't stand that man he would be a cancer in our locker room.

Lol could you see Harrison and Suggs joining forces? *chuckle*.

Yeah I agree with most, except the Ginn part. I just don't see it.

Also, I'm quite tired of having to replace a receiver, especially this year with the receivers we had. Hoping for a young dude who we can stick to next. Not Jennings, as good as he is.

BPA. That said, if the Honey Badger is there at the end of the 2nd I might take a chance or trade up from the 3rd round pick to get him. Punt/kick returner and will develop into a good cover corner. I think yiu mentioned moving Ngata to NT in another thread and though I wouldn't mind, part of the defenses success I think comes from his versatility. I'm hoping for a NT or trade up for a tackle. If not trading back for more picks. As far as the core, I think the team is fine and people will eventually calm down like they usually do. It's always panic until Ozzie finishes setting the roster before camp starts.

I dont know. Reed is a free agent, and a bit unpredictable, so we have no control over what he may do. Boldin was under contract. The only way we lose him was to cut him or a trade. That was all on the FO. So Reed we could see leaving where it was a bit of a shock to see Q go.

Ravens nation is Philly south and too over the top. Once we go back to business and usual and continue to win, everything will be lollipops and rainbows again. We have a new general. Joe Flacco has taken the reigns and will put this team on his shoulders. Ozzie will make sure he's upright and pimp tight. He will find him another play-making WR. We're bout to draft Minter and Brown. Stop trippin', Baltimore, Ozzie got this!

I do not understand why everyone is worried about WRs. With Caldwell as our OC you can bet that he will put a lot of pressure on the current WRs in offseason camps and they will be catching balls next year.

I enjoy watching Ozzzie do his thing and never worry about what our team is going to be until our first regular season game. I believe we will be back to the playoffs next year. We have a really good coaching staff. We won't have to worry about our players having to learn yet another system next year.

2013 will depend on how well Caldwell's offense runs and how well Webb returns from injury. We can fill everything else in the draft - WR, ILB, OLB, SS, and the more I think about it, while we need a solid left tackle, part of me is wondering that if we start moving to an offense that gets the ball out of Joe's hands faster, then maybe we can get by with a line that gives us a little less time.
