Boldin didn't generate nearly the regular-season production that you'd want to spend 7m a year on, Kruger had one of the lowest PFF efficiency ratings in both run and pass coverage, and Ellerbe has been injury prone and those concerns were not alleviated this season. Furthermore, Ellerbe has had major character concerns, particularly in his rookie year if anyone remembers. Plus, they all just won a Super Bowl, creating extra price for goodwill. Case in point, they were all overvalued. And if anyone else here is in economics or finance, you can agree with me that one should never write a contract with a negative net present value.

Point number 2: The Ravens need d-linemen who can collapse the pocket and a good left tackle. We have to find a replacement for Ngata, as he is no longer an effective player. Linebacker is the least important position on defense and we shouldn't be spending money there. I'd take a pass-rushing defensive end any day over a pass-rushing linebacker because their role in the defense is less predictable. Linebacker pass rushing success is also more closely linked to scheme. We have a good secondary. If we have a strong o-line, the offense will be better than it was in the playoffs last year. I couldn't care less if it's Boldin or not; his production will be replaced

You lost me there. Ngata is still a great player, and was greatly missed in the SB.

We need an ILB to stop the run..

And Pass rushing DEs mean nothing to me in the 3-4

I guess J.J. Watt or Muhammad Wilkerson are worthless. A player that can effectively get after the QB is valuable, regardless of his position or scheme.

Those players are freaks lol.
But to put off pass rushing OLBs. You can get more of those...

I worded it wrong.
It's harder to find a three down linemen for a 3-4 who can rush the passer.

Ngata has not been effective the past two seasons. He has started strong but quickly succumbed to injuries. I think that we can expect more of the same in the future. Only an observation but it seems like Samoans seem to break down earlier for some reason. Look at Polamalu.

Run-stopping linebackers are a dime a dozen. We can find them in the fourth round or from our current roster. Most linebackers, wide receivers, and running backs are easily replaceable except for a truly elite few. Thus, it is a risk to pay a premium for those positions. They don't typically add a great amount of win probability. Focusing on offensive linemen, defensive lineman, and quarterbacks has been the winning strategy of this past decade and I don't expect it to change.

We damn sure better address LT and NT. I want a beasts in the trenches!

Haloti was injured and Kemo and Cody did not provide the kind of help we needed. He will be fine if he stays healthy and we get a stud next to him.

I'm sorry, do you watch football? Have you not noticed the sharp drop-off in Ngata's leg drive in the past two years? Even his straight-line speed has seemingly dropped off. I never see the dude stop RBs for no or negative gain and his pass-rushing productivity is not good at all on a percentage basis. So what game are you watching, bro?

Bolden wasn't a yardage machine but he could mug a DB for a ball better than most. There was no 50-50 between him and a DB. He was fearless and had good hands under duress. WRs with gaudy midfield numbers and no red zone muscels are a dime a dozen in NFL

if your going to quote my post don't get snarky or sarcastic its juvenile. we almost lost the superbowl because ngata got hurt . around here we respect each other for there opinions even if we don't agree with them . as a rule most adults do that . ngata has been less effective because terrence cody sucks and ngata has to cover up for his and kemo's short comings end of story .
