So how is this guy doing in his recovery? He was our number two guy before his injury. Only a two down player but a solid one at that. His recovery is extremely important as of now.

The last update in mid-February was "positive". Regardless, he's going to have serious competition whenever he gets back on the practice field.

Bynes, McClain and McClellan battling it out with whatever draft pick we go after to fill the position.

I guess Ayanbedajo as well but I kinda hope we let him go.

McClain can rack up tackles. It just might be after a RB picks up the first down or a WR catches a pass. There a bunch of LBs in the NFL that can rack up tackles and get overrated, but there are only a handful of guys who are real impact players - meaning they can read offenses and make a game changing play like getting to the RB on his way to line scrimmage or break up a pass. Always thought Ellerbe was a heck of alot better than McClain, especially in coverage, but he couldn't get on the field unless there was an injury cuz he was is Harbs dog house. Hes a good #2 LB but he still got seriously overpaid. McClain on the other hand will probably get us a 100 tackles, but instinctually he is garbage.

I've never been a big fan of McClain. He's average on his best days.

This year especially he struggled. He couldn't get off blocks, and he was useless in coverage. MLB is a definite need, healthy McClain or not, in my book.

I think McClain stays here, despite my dislike for him. With the loss of Ellerbe, McClain will go nowhere. He provides too much value to this team right now. His leadership and knowledge of our system will be very important.

Carr is intriguing and Jameel is a former starter but it's March. There's a ton of time to upgrade at ILB.

I'd say right now McClellan would be the heir with McClain up in the air. McClellan is waaay more physical and violent and considering both suck in coverage, I'd rather have the violent run stopper playing 1st and 2nd down.

We need to find a young stud though in the mid rounds. We need some young blood with athleticism.

Well, I think that our hand has been tipped...we will most likely be using one of our first two picks on an ILB

Yup. Agreed.

Thoughts on bringing Dansby if he can be had on the cheap? We're going to infuse youth regardless and he could bring stability to the position as we transition to our draft pick or be insurance in case McClain doesn't return to form.

Man I miss Jameel he was a smart LB, who was Baltimore tough. Dude has been through a lot and always works hard.

I honestly liked him over Ellerbe. He needs to get healthy

See my avatar and signature for what direction I want the Ravens to go.

With that said, I really think we're going ILB as well.

He's never really wow'd me, but Jameel knows this defense and he's more than capable of taking the reigns. He knows this defense better than any other ILB currently on our roster, and that's why he's the main man right now.

Even if we draft a ILB in the 1st, that learning curve is gonna keep keep that rookie behind Jameel on the depth chart at least for this season.

Sweet baby Jesus, is BA still on the roster?
