Paul Kruger signs with the Cleveland Browns

Now hold everything ... I just read something on Cleveland and Kruger and I couldn't believe it. So, I went to other sites to see if it was corroborated anywhere, and it was. And you know what, I still can't believe this is true.

"Kruger, 27, will be the focal point of new coordinator Ray Horton's defense."

Now, I know it's the Browns, but seriously. Are they crazy? I mean .. seriously. They are going to build their new defense around Kruger? I ... I have no words .. none. I'm reading this wrong, right?

Wow, they are in for a rude awakening then. He is not a cornerstone player.

Only way you come to Cleveland is either by draft or money. They're young and Ray Horton will make a formidable defense, but their QB will drag them down. Example: 2012 Buffalo Bills or Arizona Cardinals which both had good defense, but faulty QBs.

The amount they overpaid Kruger becomes more evident when you realize that the amount of money the Broncos and Dumerville have been dickering over is less money than Cleveland gave Kruger.

Browns kill me.

I laugh whenever I read "And the Ravens have to face this guy twice a year...yikes!" Lol what...?

Exactly. When he's on the field just run the ball right at him.

Thanks for helping us win the Superbowl this year Paul. I'm sorry to say it's going to be the last time you see the playoffs for a long, long time.

Kruger's departure does not bother me at all, it is Boldin's that does! What some of these players should keep in mind is that they are leaving a Super Bowl champion. I understand completely that the money is great, but at what price are you going to leave a winner.

I see him getting about a sack per million dollars. He should have an impact, but not a major one that warrants that contract. I have said to all of our FAs that have signed elsewhere, "Thanks for having your career year with us and helping us win a championship. Good for you, and go get your money...somewhere else."

A sack per million sounds generous to me. Maybe a sack per $2 or $3 million. They want him to be the main man ... best indication of what that looks like is 2012 before the Houston game (when Suggs came back). He had 1.5 sacks at that time. I don't think he'll play that bad all year, but 8 or more sacks? Not unless they put a beast on the opposite side from him.

Personally, I can't wait for the Ravens to meet Cleveland next year .. with his struggles with the run, Bernard Pierce is going to have a field day on the right side.

What I love most are the Browns fans who obviously pay attention and don't just go with media hype are trying to reel them back in, but they're not having any of it.

You gotta love the Browns' fans ... bless their pointy little heads. :D

A sack per million is generous I guess. I think he will get fewer sacks per play, but I was considering the fact that he will be in far more snaps this year. Barring an injury, which is very possible given his expected increase in workload, I think 8 sacks is reasonable for a whole season of 3-down play. That's really not that impressive if you think about it, since he's supposed to be the man now.

As soon as you double team Kruger, he becomes completely useless. The reason he was effective last year is because either Suggs or Ngata commanded being double teamed. I don't know the stats, but I'd love to see them on any time Kruger was DTed. I doubt he has any sacks, rushes, etc. when that happens.

The Browns are in for a rude awakening if they are planning on making Paul the cornerstone of their defense.
