kruger is good at something very very very specific. rushing the passer from the left side of the line. that's all he can do. he can't even rush from the right side. all he can do is play LOLB. and he is getting paid 8 million a year to do that. it's times like this that I know ozzie is one of the smarter GMs in the league.

Hahahaha. PEACE.

Kruger was always looking for the money anyway, especially outperforming himself (when Suggs was on the field) in his contract season.

Will miss the conducting celebration, though.

40$mill for 5 years? That's crazy. Congrats to Kruger on getting paid.

Yeah. I forget where I read this but it's funny and seems fitting...

Cleveland, proof that it IS all about the money.

That is OK. The consolation is that Kruger's production was accentuated by the defense he played with. I think many will be surprised when he has to play with a Browns' D that was not as talented as ours.
Also, you could not count on Kruger as much against the run, so the Browns easily overpaid for him.

Others have said it, but I'll say it again:

can we say product of our system a'la Adalius Thomas and Ed Hartwell?

Did the Colts even get a chance to sniff at Kruger at all?

Ill be the voice of optimism for Cleveland. What they have now is a good 1-2 tandem of edge rushers in Sheard and Kruger. Neither are elite rushers but both are slightly above average. Both of them are young, both are above average with their hands and body control when it comes to edge rushing and both take slight pressure off the other.

Kruger is not as bad in coverage as some make him out to be. I don't think he's phenomenal in it, but he's not bad. He has good spacial awareness in zone, brutal in man because he's a limited athlete but good in shell zones.

Kruger is only 26 so I'm sure they're hoping he develops into a more complete OLB. This isn't a bad move by the Browns, but the contract amount is a little north of his actual worth, potential included.

Actually, the Browns D is pretty good. When you draft that high year after year, eventually you build up some talent. Kruger will do well there and he'll play his butt off twice a year against us.

Can't believe people didn't want Flacco to get paid, just so we could overpay Kruger this way. I am sorry, but:

120$mill for Joe > 40$mill for Kruger

By like light years.

They would be better served investing that cash on the offense. They really need some receivers, imho.

If they can find a legitimate threat beyond Josh Gordon, they could make a little noise.

Can you imagine how good they would be if they had taken Russel Wilson in the 2nd last year and used that 1st rounder they wasted on Weedon on somebody else. Thankfully they screwed that one up.

Wow with Kruger and Ellerbe, winning the Super Bowl REALLY ups your value!!!!

I figured Kruger would leave, I am just disappointed it is with the Browns. He wont see the post season again any time soon.

Yep, and all the people saying we overpaid Joe and couldn't resign Kruger, nobody in their right mind would pay 8 million for a guy who has 16 sacks in 4 years. And as a reminder, Sizzle was out the first six games, and through those six, Kruger had 1.5 sacks. He had a dominant month in November, then cooled off again in December. Yeah he was a beast in the playoffs, but 8 million - 500k for each of his sacks.

You'd think the Browns would have learned after they threw a bunch of money at Gary Baxter way back when... Oh well

The dual patellar tendon incident certainly didn't help, but Baxter wasn't a bad player.

Forgot all about that. I was kind of a youngin when all that went down. I just remembered he didn't play there long. Ahh well, I'll make an Adalius Thomas reference next time I talk about free agent busts. :bricks:

Ah don't worry about it lol. Just referencing Baxter means you're not a young person on this board lol!

no hating on Kruger or Ellerbe from me. i hate to see them (and Boldin) go but it is the nature of the beast! so, congrats to Kruger and Ellerbe for their "new" contracts! thanks for all that you've done for the Ravens on their Superbowl run! i wish you both nothing but the best.....UNTIL....you play the Ravens!

I wonder if they really talked him into thinking the Browns will go anywhere for the next few seasons of if the allure of huge money just swept him away to Cleveland. I mean.....its CLEVELAND, Paul!!!!

Good luck anyway. Pull back a little before you bury Flacco at some point.

I'm glad he is gone. That's personally how I feel. He never had the ravens mindset as Kruger is all about $$$. This is not Ravens football.
Now he has to play for the Browns, lol HAHAHA SUCKA!!! He is gonna learn what being a loser feels like week in and week out.
Enjoy your $$, cause that is all you got coming.Gone is the respect, the winning and the looking good Paul.
Enjoy Cleveland,LOL..

And I wanna say that I never liked the guy, never.. He was a pleasant surprise and helped the team win so I don't wanna hate, it's I just saw right through him and knew he would not be a big piece of the Ravens going forward. I mean 8 mil for 4 sacks a year average, c'mon.. And he is not even a starter..
Given he played at a higher level in a contract year, with the entire team preforming at a super bowl winning level.. HELLO?? ....Can anyone say selfish... Ozzie was wise to let this guy walk..
Yet another Ravens LB that chased the $$$$.. We will be better without him, mark my words.
Man I'm gonna miss ya #52

Paul Kruger was officially introduced as a Brown and he stated that the Browns made him feel the most wanted. That he will prove he is an every down player and also that the Browns defense is almost identical or similar to the Ravens defense. Identical??
