Dannell Ellerbe signs with the Miami Dolphins

I don't think it's fair to compare the differences between two multi-million dollar salaries to the difference between a $45,000 and $70,000 job.

As you get richer, the value of each additional dollar goes down. For instance (speculating): if Ellerbe was offered $5,045,000 mil by the Ravens, and $5,070,000 by the Dolphins, he would have stayed here.

Seeing that we were only able to offer him $4.5 mil, compared to $7mil from the Dolphins, I understand why he made that choice. There is a huge difference in those salaries. But I don't know if I could bring myself to go and play for such a terrible team.

Dolphins fans are predicting a massive turnaround and even a SB run since they got Wallace and now Ellerbe. I hope they get what they paid for but I don't see it happening. Cap casualty?

Yeah, its based on ratio. Pretty sure thats how everyone would look it. Of course $5.1M and $5.15M are of little difference. Whereas $100k and $150k is a massive difference.

That was my initial reaction, you know how everyone here posts something right away without giving thought to why it happened. Then I thought about it and realized 7M was too much for him.

Doesnt matter what level its at. Money is money and this is a business. 100% guarantee if you were Ellerbe, and these where your offers, you'd be off to Miami as well. They need to make what they can, when they can.

LOL Seriously! The guy just won a superbowl. That is the highest team accolade there is. He is going for money and for 5 year $35 million, I'd freakin walk to Miami.

Yea! Wallace will not be their cure all, hell they had Brandon Marshall and couldn't do squat. Ellerbe although a very good player, is not a defensive cure all not by a long shot, and they just tied up 20 million per year on those two positions alone, and I believe they made a couple other big signings. I will look for the Dolphins to make huge salary cap purge in the next 2-3 seasons.
