DE Chris Canty agrees to 3 year, $8 million deal

Solid pick-up, if we do sign him. Perhaps he'll split time with Ngata. Personally, I think Arthur Jones cemented a spot as a starter, and his 2nd round tender supports that. Ngata, however, has been constantly banged up the past two seasons. I expect Canty to be one of our rotational guys, not a starter.

i grabbed ages off the roster from this past season so both 33 now i think thats young but ....
it depends on postion and we need veteran depth i actually think this is a solid pick IF we sign him.30 somethings are aged esp if your getting hit allot.

I think we would see more Ngata/Jones at NT. Canty would start for us IMO.

I think Jones can do the job at 0T. I really like him in that role. McPhee/Canty, Jones/Cody, Ngata/? Would be a nice rotation. You can put Tyson in there, but I think we draft a guy.

from the video that was posted vs Dallas, he looks like a strong dude and Dallas was double teaming him a lot. the play where cook gets called for illegal hands to the face shows how powerful he is. i like his size. if hes cheap, bring him in.

Great point. I could see that happening!

Was due $6.25 million this year - almost exactly what we saved by trading Boldin.
Not sure if he has other offers on the table, but would be a great signing if we could get him for less than that.
I'm looking for any bright light after yesterday's loss.

When we played the Giants, you expected that D-line to cause a lot of problems. Pierre-Paul got owned by Osemele, Tuck was out I think, Umenyiora made a few plays, but it was actually Canty that was busting up all kinds of plays. I think the guy is under the radar from the bigger names around him, I'd love to pick him up for a reasonable price.

I see him as more of a inside pass rushing, Trevor Pryce type. It's hard to play low and anchor against the run with that kind of frame.

We always win free agency, because we do not blow a big wad of cash for a bunch of bling players. The teams that lose FA are the ones that grab those high priced guys that they cut a year or so later, and still never see the play-offs.

Is he really 6'7? Dang! He'd be a good pickup for our DL.
And McBean is 6'5'' and 300 lbs with some change. We could get a lot of beef in the front 7.

isn't McBean a UFA? I thought we only got him on a 1 year contract last year.

Yeah McBean is unrestricted, but I've heard quite a bit about him coming back on another 1 year deal.

Initially I took it that you were trying to hint that the Redskins were FA winners, but I see that you are using them as an example of a bling buyer that still loses. I was trying to be kind and not name names.

Are you subtlety hinting that The Redskins have "won" free agency at some point? It must have been in the far distant past because two play-off appearances (both losses) in the last 10 or 12 years does not sound like much of a win to me. Besides last seasons appearance could easily be attributed to their finally drafting a decent QB. Although that is beside the point. My point was that the Ravens can be considered FA winners, since they tend to pick up some decent to good talent for below market prices.
I'm hinting that Washington is the poster boy of what not to do in the off season My point is that Washington regularly 'wins' the off season Super Bowl with big money free agent signings, but when it comes to actually playing they games none of their signings work out. Dan Snyder thinks he can just throw money at players and that will create a winning team. It just doesn't work that way.

Yeah I misunderstood. Changed my post to reflect. That is one example. These owner GMs are really not too bright.

Exactly Namdi joining Jenkins from that eagles dream team today case in point

Canty's a pretty serviceable player. He had a down year, like all the Giants, but still has a lot of experience that can be wielded.

Apparently he has offers from Chiefs, Packers and Titans.

I really have nothing against the Skins. Most of my family live near Washington and are Skins fans.
