Besides these guys, he's also got the following players who are still with the team:

This is an under-rated factor in Flacco's performance. He doesn't get the luxury of always having familiar weapons who contribute a lot. There is a revolving door of receivers that Flacco has to work with, and the ones that go away typically show after they've left that they didn't have anything left in the tank anyway. So Flacco has had a history of working with untalented and/or washed up receivers that switch out on a nearly annual basis.

Hopefully this tune will change with guys like Pitta and Torrey Smith staying here a while. They will reach that 3rd year in 2013, and all signs look good they'll be the first ones to stick around for a fourth year in 2014.
two things are glaringly clear one we need to improve developing our young wideouts, and consistency at this postion will improve this offense . not bashing the coaching staff just making observations.

I'm not sure exactly what this thread is about but I can tell you that Joe has always given his receivers a chance. If you're open, expect the ball. He doesn't have guys he clings to. That doesn't mean some receivers are more reliable than others. But if Dickson is open and Pitta is not, the ball is going to Dickson.

I think we should add at least one more receiver and tight end in the draft - this is a good draft for both positions, very deep and we can find good players in every round.

i don't care who they pick at wide reciever i get we need speedy guys but if they can't catch then what's the point. we are not going to a track meet. torrey smith had a great game against bailey older. but could not beat culliver ....one on one what happens when he gets double teamed by two young corners? not being confrontational ......boldin could beat dbs and drag them along for the ride. beyond pitta i see nothing in depth .and god forbid we run up against sherman or revis ....
Boldin barely ever beat DB's. He's the type of receiver that you throw a jump ball to him in the right spot. If any receiver gets double teamed by two corners, he won't produce. I don't care who it is.

In 2010 Dickson received more targets and catches then Pitta, then there was a shift and in the next couple of years Pitta emerged and as a result Dicksons got less targets than Pitta.

I'm not saying that Joe has favorites but in critical moments these will be his four "go-to-guys". During the last 8 games of the season (playoffs included) it was evident that Q was Joe's go to guy in dyer situations. Now that we've lost Q, I believe that in critical moments he will note where each of these four receivers are, so that the play is made.
exactly my point so if torrey gets doubled and pitta does who's up next . do we have any depth because we haven't seen anything from our young guys and that was my point.

Joe doesn't have a go to guy. If you look at the season as a whole, you can see different players having great games, not just one receiver constantly. Even Boldin, who caught fire in the playoffs, almost disappeared for much of the regular season, while us thrived.
I think that talent-wise Pitta will emerge more and more as Joe's safety valve, just because of his incredible pass catching ability and Torrey as a big time play maker, just based on his progress. I hope we can use Rice more in the passing game as well. He did a great job on those short passes.

You've pretty much summed up everthing that I've said. lol

and if you're telling me that at the end of the season that Q wasn't Joe's go-to-guy

He began to realize towards the end of the season, that if he gets into trouble, all he needs to do is locate Q and give him a chance

You know what? no hating on Doss, he has elite hands and I expect him to bounce back with a vengeance. Everyone should be allowed to have one bad game.

Completely agreed!!

&& I've been telling all of the Doss haters that, that also was the biggest game that he's played in. Sometimes we as fans forget that players can be nervous and I think that was it.

Well if those two get doubled team at once which i highly doubt would happen, that would leave jacoby one on one with a backup CB. I like jacoby's chances with that. Teams don't double team all that much. Especially two corners. But anyway, i hope tandon Doss breaks loose and shows potential but for now its torrey, jacoby, tandon and maybe laquan. I really wish we could of let Q finish his contract..

Trust me, Ozzie isn't stupid. He isn't going to let Pitta go, atleast not easily. Some team is going to have to fork up a second round pick and a pretty nice contract. I think with pitta, ozzie would open the bank more. Now we have to be cautious of signing dumervil until Q takes that physical because of the cap.
